I want to learn how to flash themes but don't know how....I'm running clean gb 1.0.5 ei22.....if it says acs does it mean it must be flashed with acs recovery? And what are some good themes
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No it can be flashed on any recovery
All you do is wipe cache partition and the dalvik cache in the advanced section. Then flash the theme.
If you like ICS go get the ICS 2.1 theme by GituSum, Shake and Bake by TravisMoreno. There's a lot just look at the themes section and look through the post they have screenshots of what they look like

You can use acs recovery if your on bml but not if your on mtd... any theme can be flashed with cwm 5.0.2.7... Well first determine if your on bml or mtd as the steps are slightly different... if bml- download theme and place on your sd card... boot into cwm... wipe cache and dalvik cache... choose install zip from sd card... find zip and flash... reboot... now for mtd... same steps as before but before choosing install zip from sd card go into mounts and storage in cwm and mount /system... now choose zip from sd card and flash... now unmount /system and reboot... all the themes are pretty good but its all about personal preference when it comes to themes... look in the themes thread for ei22 themes and look at screenshots to get an idea of what they look like... hope this helps!

Everytime I try and install a theme using these steps it just gives me a black screen and will this work on cm7????

NO! You have to download themes, usually the market is a good place to start and you use theme changer in your apps drawer to change between them.
Don't know .... never tried it I use the theme chooser not themes I don't know that they do.....

Try another browser. Some of those links will take you to the market. I viewed them all on a laptop to see the screens better. Try Dolphin or Skyfire.

I figured this would fit in the themes section best, my mistake if it was better placed elsewhere. It seems that all the flashable theme zips I could find on here are coming up with a (bad) error in clockwork, anyone know why/how to fix it?
I'm running syndicate 1.02 with xtreme kernel 1.2

Seems like your downloads aren't complete. erase your prior downloads, wipe your cache/dalvik, re download the wanted theme and attempt to flash
what happened too them? Almost every theme I download now fails when installing the zip..
is everything ext4 now??
Im pretty sure all themes are compatible with rfs

The theme apk's in the zip will be for both RFS and Ext4. But the zip file for ext4 must be coverted to use edify scripts. So you can not use a zip designed for ext4 on a RFS system or RFS on a ext4. From what I have seen #'s of downloads is ext4 is 4 to 1 ratio. That number might start to change with some the problems with ext4 causing FC's and random reboots.
Something nice is on the way rfs. Probably a week at the most. in the mean time if you like pink

Can u change the names on the backups I do with cwm without messing up my backups
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
have u tried restoring one of those backups? Did u see if it still worked with chaning the name?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
No I haven't tried
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Yes you can change them. There cannot be any spaces or un-supported characters like "/", "*", etc...
You can use underscores or camelCaseNomenclature to help make it flow / read easier for multiple words or numbers.
I have had trouble with this and always got md5 errors. Use ROM Manager to rename them as they are made. It works great.

Worst that would happen is an md5 error. Reboot would bring him right back.

When I install rom manager and run cwm it ask for my phone Samsung epic 4g or Samsung epic 4g (mtd) which one do I choose and does rom manager work for this phone being I bricked a phone before messing with rom manager
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
if you are on a mtd rom choose mtd. if your on a bml rom choose the first option

You choose Samsung Epic not MTD unless you have done the conversion or on a MTD ROM. If not on MTD then Install Clockworkmod at the top of the menus of ROM Manager. It installs the officially supported CWM on your phone which is uses regardless of the recovery that is on your phone. You should also find and flash CWM 5.027 zip so your phone's recovery matches for 3 finger salute. And yes it works fine now that the Epic is supported.
If you are on MTD ROM just hit menu key in ROM Manager and pick manual recovery or something like that and then choose Epic-MTD and clockwork 3.xxx.
When I try to go into Recovery to install the black infinitum theme, and it's on Android System Recovery? No option to wipe dalvik or advanced menu at all so I just rebooted.

Lol, any fix to this? I want to have cwm.
Unless you want to brick your phone I suggest you wait until a proper kernel and recovery are released for CM9.

I would first recommend reading OP's fully before you flash.

It doesn't work. It won't let me install it for some reason so I pushed it to system and changed the permissions and it crashes
Edit. It was an issue with tapatalk download. Got it working. Thanks for this!
