[Q] shut down mobile network - HTC Wildfire S

Hey guys, Know someone a way to shut down the network?
After i install a new rom, the phone connect to the network [data] and uses it, before i can install the setings.
I use only wifi , so i dont want to get charged for using data.

?
Just pull notifications panel down, and turn off mobile network.

I mean, after a new rom and boot, you will have the opportunity to set you settings, like which country, synchro, google account etc. in that list is also connect to wifi.
I am wanting to skip the settings and strait to turn off network, before it is connecting to network and costs me money.

This should help...
1) Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2) Select "Phone information"
3) Select SUB Menu then select "More"
4) Select "Disable data on boot"
5) Reboot and Enjoy!

ah, thank you sir!!
One question then, this setting, does it stay after a new rom install?
Well it doesn work after all.
Did a new rom instal and it connects right after i logged on my sim code.
Too bad then...

Can you disable carrier data connection?

I dont want my Tilt 2 to connect to the data connection EVER! Is there a setting I can change to keep it from doing this? I only use wifi and refuse to pay for a data package.
Mike
settings /communications / data connection off should do what you are asking for
Call your carrier and have them block all data. That is the only true way.

They will not go for that, I am trying to stay under the radar for the whole manditory data package thing. are the phone and data all on the same radio setup? could I flash a wrong setup for data or anything?
Mike
Look up MoDaCo NoData, it disables data connections (such as MEdia Net and AT&T ISP GPRS). That, or go to Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced Tab>Select Networks Button and change both to My Work Network. That should block network connections over AT&T's network, since "My Work Network" is set not to connect to the internet, nor does it have any communications settings. Hope that helps

I did have them set to "my work network" copilot GPS still tried to get out. I will look for that NoData.
Thanks

This is how I disabled DATA connection on my T-Mobile branded touch pro 2.
Connections folder > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Drop down menu to T-Mobile Data (on programs that automatically connect to internet) > Edit > Select T-Mobile Data again > Edit > NEXT > Access Point Name : epicx.tmobile.com > Next > Next.
That is how I've been doing it on my previous WM phones (MDA, Wing) and now the Touch Pro 2
MMS will still work via data btw...It is just using diff server

It may try to get out, but it will not succeed. I just tried with Opera and it couldn't connect.

can't use mobile internet

hi, when i started my phone today i noticed that i diden't had any internet connection, and i did try to reboot it and shutdown 3 and start it up again but it dosen't work, and i don't see any internet connection in the status bar only connection for calls :S
Two things.
First off all, check that you haven't disabled mobile internet. On a Sense ROM you can do this via the Power menu, or via a widget.
Assuming it is enabled, check your APN settings are correct.
Regards,
Dave
I cant get any reception at all... I have lost all receptioon .. on my Orange UK phone .... I'm in south wales.. normally it's fine here
Same here a couple of days ago. I just went into the menu wireless & networks, use mobile network when WiFi not available. For some reason this had been unchecked, not by me though - checked the box & happily carried on.

Yes - there's you problem. You should have an active APN here.
Press Menu then "New APN" and add in the APN details for your carrier.

[q] editing MMS Connection Settings

hi,
how do i edit connection settings in the messages folder to make my ROM usable with my provider's MMS settings? everything is greyed out and inaccessible.
i have the info needed from a working phone...
you need to check your APN settings
i dont have that option in wireless & networks

what option? if you mean "it's not there", that's the whole point, you need to add it >menu >new APN
you need to check with your telco as to what their MMS settings are
in mobile network settings what i get is data roaming, data roaming sound, enable always - on mobile connectivity, and system select (cdma roaming mode). thats it
i see the settings if i go to the messaging menu (inbox) then press menu - settings - connection settings. but they're inaccessible
Do you have a CDMA or GSM phone?
cdma...................
you really should have mentioned that, it's really very significant!
you need a ROM that supports CDMA phones, you can't just put whatever on there

[Q] SGH-1747 mobile data connection problems

Hey guys,
First of all, sorry but I'm a complete newbie with this phone, however I've tried to do the necessary research and I think i've hit a block. First of all, my phone is a SGH-1747 (from the title) Samsung Galaxy s III 4G LTE or just Samsung Galaxy s III LTE which is network unlocked with original carrier being AT&T. I updated the phone to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 via Samsung Kies and everything went smoothly. It was originally my aunt's and I asked her to ship it to me here in Australia. So my current provider is Vodafone Australia and yes I do have a micro sim and can use the phone for almost everything except for the problem that I'm experiencing.
Okay so firstly I thought my problem was that everything I go on google play store via my mobile data (not WIFI), I was unable to update / download certain apps and it would give me a "package file is invalid" error. I've done researched tried clearing cache, cookies, data but nothing seemed to work. I also thought it might be something to do with only unable to download apps that are a certain size, seeing as I could download SOME smaller apps (like google apps updates, but not all) but it got to the point where I tried accessing apps that require an internet connection, and it won't load because of error "not connected to internet or you might be disconnected". At all times I am able to access the internet via internet browser and even search for apps via google play store. I also thought it might be app-related, so i tried different apps, no bingo. I can however download all these apps / updates when I am connected to WIFI at my house, can even access the games. Also thought it might be related to Vodafone not supporting 4G so I tried to change around the network modes but It didn't really make much of a difference... I've also tried factory resetting many times with no bingo.
So now i'm at the point where I don't know what's wrong with it. Do you guys have any ideas? Even vodafone people were unable to find a solution after spending about an hour trying to fix it with them.
Even with the sim unlocked you may need to manually add the correct apn for your specific carrier. Not sure what the correct apn for vodafone is, but im sure its listed somewhere on this forum or via a google search. Go to your settings>wireless&networks>more settings>mobile networks>access point names. Press the menu button and press add apn, enter the correct configuration. Before exiting the apn menu make sure to press menu button again and choose "save". On the following screen pick your newly entered apn, wait for the button to stay green and then exit. You should see the data icon appear in the status bar. Reboot the phone and it should work.

Thank you very much. Apparently when I got my sim, it was adding a proxy and a port number. According to the actual vodafone website there wasn't anything you're supposed to have in that and only that port and proxy was supposed to go into the MMS Proxy and MMS Port. Props to Vodafone for not knowing how to fix my problem even after spending 1 hour on the phone with them.

How to switch 3G Only

How I can switch my Fire Phone to 3G Only Band? Some App or somthing? Who help? :what:
Go to the dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#* and tap "Phone Information". On the next screen, you can select 'WCDMA preferred' from the drop-down menu. However, I'm not sure if the phone will automatically reset itself back after a restart or whatnot.
Yes. I discovery that. Its simple and easy. Now for me, a very good phone.
Is there anyway to turn off 3G ? for use 2G GSM only mode , I want to use EDGE option since my area has the weak 3G signal.

You follow the same steps I gave in my previous post. Instead of selecting WCDMA preferred, you select GSM only in the drop-down menu.

Thank you it works great without reset the phone.
And easier and lazier way is to install the app "Phone testing", it is the shortcut to the same menu. On Motorola phone the app is required because that dialer combination doesn't work.
