Hello people, just wondering if there is any App that a designed part of size of the microSD and simulate that's internal memory, something like that cause the real thing is that I am getting without free space on my internal memory....
I have moved several app to SD card but this is not enough it seems..
any idea?
thanks

You'll have to go with a custom ROM with something like AD2SDX or A2SD.
Go look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961 . If I might make a recommendation, that would be it. Just make sure your SD is fast.
I'm running the A2SD edition and have got probably around 51 games installed, 30 apps etc and still have about 50MB's free internally. I did move a lot of data using Titanium Backup though.
good luck!
I had the same issue when running the official HTC ROM. Had to decide between uninstalling apps or changing to a custom ROM.
Did the latter, and have not had any regrets since.
I rather like the Sense UI, so one of the primary concerns was finding a ROM with Sense and Apps2SD. Tried the Revolution ROM reinstalled all my apps, and instead of having 15MB available, I had 115MB - no more space issues here..
I think you should have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
Personally, I'd go for one of the Sense 1.9/2.1 or 2.1/3.0.
I'm seriously considering moving to AN-Droid - not many tweaks, but the old Sense 1.9 along with Apps2SD.
Even i am facing the same issue, low memory was making me crazy, so i finally started to process of installing ROM on my desire
Backup all apps with Titanium.
Backup your SDcard to PC.
Root and/or S-OFF your phone.
Partition your SDCARD so it has 2 ext partition (1Gb and 300 Mb) and remaining FAT32.
Flash MIUI XJ XPART, and you'll have 1024 Mb for your apps and games. And very fast and smooth ROM.
Cheers.

So when I first got my HTC Desire and installing some applications I of course came across the annoying message telling me I am running low on space.
So I rooted and installed a ROM with AppstoSD, and was happy again. Now I am back to the same issue, keeps telling me I am low. Which is true because after rooting I installed a bunch more applications lol
So my phone says I have 147MB total to use for Applications and such. Currently around 13 to 16MB. Quite annoying.
So with future Android updates or even hacks will applications ever install and run and store everything from an SD card? Because this expensive device I am locked into for 3 years is going to get pretty crappy and annoying if I have to uninstall applications I want to install other ones...
Comments?
Well as a2sd just works by creating a symlink to the ext partition on the sd-card, yous should be able to simply create one for /data/data as well. Because those data foleders are still stored on the data prtition, and those are the ones taking up space.
I Found a guide at some point, but i can't seem to find it now, but try searching around.
I have been looking around, and no luck. Why I started this thead
Anyone else, ideas, know a way?
to make app2sd work you need an ext partition. to do that download rom manager for free from market and create one. i suggest if use to install lots of apps select 512mb partition, set swap to 0mb. but keep in mind before creating the partition you should backup all data from sdcard because it will be formatted to create the partition.
and by the way please edit title cause this is Nand memory that you are refering to.

Cant edit title.
And I clearly said I have AppstoSD working, it's just not enough.
My main question was simply, will in the future, apps2sd or whatever it will be called allow for applications to be installed, stored and run from the SD. If not my nice new phone is going to get quite annoying and useless.
if you say that you started with 147mb and now have 13-16mb and have app2sd, it means that you have a rom that supports app2sd but not aproperly created ext partition. that is why you are running low.
for example if you have a working EXT and still having left only 13mb on phone it means that you have installed aboout 300to500 apps. that is because although apps get installed on EXT but always leave a trace in phone memory(something like a shortcut).

It's not always just a trace!
/data/data is left on internal memory (for stability reasons) and some apps, for example Google Earth, take up an awful lot of space there.

So you are saying I formatted wrong when I did created the ext partition originally?
That's an exaggeration although on AOSP ROMs, same everything except HTC additions (mainly Sense), I have 35-40MB free while on HTC 2.2 ROMs I'm always juggling between 15-20MB free. I have A2SD fully working, 112 apps on. I don't see it as a big issue for me because I only need approx 85 of them from day to day, but to have the rest on and not have to worry and keep deleting things to keep the phone working would be very handy. Nearly all the quality apps with great features require much memory (don't even ask me about Rockplayers update). Most of them are still using a good chunk of the internal memory even after being "installed on SD card" for some portion but the killers are apps like Adobe Flash, Maps, HTC_IME, Earth, SMS/MMS, cache, emails, bookmarks, widgets and so forth. In fact, I only keep 2-3 emails and a few bookmarks stored in the default applications for this reason.

I have a rooted HTC Desire (Partial root using unrevoked, phone is still S-ON). Now I have about 148 MB of Internal memory for installing apps. I recently installed Move 2 SD Enabler which force-moves apps to SD card (even if they dont have move2sd enabled by default). I moved most of the large footprint apps like Twitter (5MB) to SD card.
Problem is, even after doing that I have only 27 MB free. My question is this: Does the 148 MB of memory also include all system data? Technically that should be a separate 'partition' right? And if its not in the 148 MB then what is it thats taking up so much space? I have about 25-30 apps installed most of which are on the SD card and most of those are under 1 MB in size.
This has really stumped me. I have a somewhat advanced knowledge on my phone, so I would appreciate responses keeping that in mind
Thanks.
The normal partition layout is 250mb system partition and a 147mb data (internal) partition. The system partition is completely filled up if you use a sense rom. If you slim down the rom (remove some system apps you don't need) you can move some stuff from data to system but the easiest is to use a custom rom with A2SD+ if you have space problems.
If you don't have that much apps installed your space is probably taken by: browser, contacts, mapps or some other cache.
Thanks for the response. I kind of like my Sense ROM with a custom launcher - so I dont really want to move to other ROMs. I kind of ran some cursory math and there is no way everything would add upto to 120 MB. I guess I'll just have to live with it. And wait till I buy my new Android with a larger internal memory.
The dalvik cache and normal cache (browser and some apps) takes a big part of the internal memory.
Also there are plenty of sense (both stock desire and HD/Z) roms with A2SD+ so i don't get your point of not wanting to change rom.
Thanks for clearing that out about dalvik and normal cache. I didnt know they take so much space. About Apps2Sd+ I am kind of confused with all the terms floating around out there. Are you referring to Apps2Ext? If thats the case then I dont want to do it because I have a class2 SD card and I am in no mood to invest in a Class6 SD card - and I dont want to end up frying my class 2 card with ext, etc.
Or is Apps2SD+ the feature where-in you can move ANY app to SD card whether the app has built in support for SD card or not... (of course the widgets wont work in that case.) If this is what these ROMs have then I will definitely move to one of these ROMs
Would appreciate your feedback on this and also if you could suggest any good sense-ROMs - The only one I know is LeeDroid.
Also would a titanium restore on a custom SENSE rom mirror my previous ROM? or will there be broken apps?
Sorry for so many questions
similar situation here, only about 20mb of apps installed yet even moving all I can to the sd I'm left with just 20mb internal memory using a 2.2 ruu, somehow missing 100 mb even after clearing cache etc

I'm talking about A2SD+ (the one with the ext partition). The class of the sd card does not really influence performance, at least i didn't notice it when using it with the sd card that comes with the phone, so class 2 will work.
The chance of 'frying' your card during partitioning is minimal and the ware on the sd is not really a issue with the modern cards, but I can't guaranty that your card won't be affected.
For custom rom's look trough this thread under Sense roms.
Your best bet is Leedroid or AuraxTSense depending on the look you like.
A titanium backup (if done right) will restore all you apps and app data on the new phone, i believe widgets on the home screen will also be restored but i can't remember. I don't know about wireless settings, email accounts ect. because i don't back these up, but if it's green in titanium it should work. Just to be sure make a nandroid before changing rom's so that you can revert.
you can flash custom Hboot alpharev S off method i am having oxygen hboot with 338 mb for data using a2sd further i allways have more than 100 mb internal space.
this is the best method availiable
also oxygen rom is best stable Gingerbread rom.
Changing hboot is the best option for you (also form me) but not overall the best option. People who want to stick to sense need the big system partition. So S-offing and changing hboot doesn't help much.
Just like every "best option" this depends on personal preferences and if you want minimal changes from stock rom, A2SD+ is the best way.
Also changing hboot is a much riskier method and should only be done once you understand better what you are actually doing.
I dont see any point in using data++ over a2sd+.
I'm running a Desire with current Leedroid 3.07 rom, and 2.6.35.10(v5) kernel, and even with around 80 apps + games loaded I still have the following memory free...
Internal 154MB (102.3 MB) free
SD Card 30.9GB (21.6GB) free
SD Card (a2sd) 959MB (682 MB) free
So there is plenty of storage available still - so why would u want to move system data and cache onto slower sd memory. It must be more efficient to keep them on the internal flash. A class 10 card is still horribly slow.
Seems to be a lot of "must keep up with the Joneses " going on here.
I've noticed that nandroid backups don't work on normal A2SD+, if you restore nandroid, apps restored to ext will force close.
Haven't got the same problem in data++

That's the point of data++. Normal A2SD+ keeps those on SD-EXT.

data++ roms are way faster than a2sd+
yes, some parts of \system is on sd-ext but these are not important files, the ones that are not vital for speed and stability.
instead your apps run from NAND, so does the important part of \system and you have a fast phone with lots of space
i used to go with a2sd+ roms, but since S-OFFing my desire i fell in love with it... again
check this link... theory data++

Data2SD ftw
I'm using app2sd+ on my Desire with the Leedroid ROM. The ext3 partition on my SD card has over 500MB free space yet my Desire still reports low internal storage - 6MB and at one point last week it was completely full, ie. apps stopped syncing data as they couldn't write to the storage.
I have taken the SD card out of the phone and mounted it on my Linux computer to see how much space it's using:
Code:
/dev/mmcblk0p2 836M 245M 549M 31% /media/f74d2438-5eb6-4570-9ee3-fae2f7e5ef74
(where 549M is free space)
Code:
du -sh /media/f74d2438-5eb6-4570-9ee3-fae2f7e5ef74/*
105M /media/f74d2438-5eb6-4570-9ee3-fae2f7e5ef74/app
2,0M /media/f74d2438-5eb6-4570-9ee3-fae2f7e5ef74/app-private
122M /media/f74d2438-5eb6-4570-9ee3-fae2f7e5ef74/dalvik-cache
Anyone know what could be causing this, and how to get the phone to see how much space is really there?
Basically check if the android has moved any apps to the sd cards fat 32 partition by going to manage applications/SD card in settings
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
This why I dont like app2sd.
It has moved a handful of apps to the FAT32 partition on the SD card. But I don't understand why - I have tonnes of space on the ext3 partition that I created for app2sd+, why does it not see that space?
(I didn't want to use app2sd+ either but I have no choice due to the crappy amount of internal storage on the Desire)
It does it automatically so just move as much apps back to the phone as possible then run the a2sd reinstall command

what command is that out of interest?
also some apps automagically try and set themselves up to install to the fat32 partition - annoying... perhaps google should implement a way to choose where you want them installing, but i guess they think they are catering for the majority...
Once u have moved thwdpps from the fat 32 to the phone that command reruns the a2sd script movring app the apps on the phone to the extra partition
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Sorry I don't understand. If I try to move those apps back to the phone (internal storage) it won't let me because it claims there's not enough space available.
However as I showed in my first post there's plenty of free space on the ext3 partition on my SD card. That ext3 partition is supposed to be used by app2sd+ to extend the internal storage.
I'm not sure what a2sd reinstall has to do with it - I'm not using a2sd I'm using app2sd+ (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7473663&postcount=3)

This has nothing to do with a2sd+ script per se. I'd call that a bug in Leedroid implementation.

Leedroid uses cyanogenmod script. You are talking about Darktremor's, so this won't work.

You have this option in Spare parts for a year or so. I noticed it for the first time in October last year. But it only works for those apps which had hardcoded Froyo a2sd (fat32) capability.
Op, where is your davlik cache? Download diskusage and check what happens. With some 90 apps & stock hboot you should have some 90mb internal. I have about that with my setup from the sig and my 130mb davlik is on /data.
Hi,
In Diskusage->Appstorage shows 319MB for data and 314MB for Applications.
In /data Diskusage shows 132.9MB of data.
I have 5.04MB free internal storage.

Moving to Q&A
I am tired searching months for solution... my Internal memory always comes to 10MB or less.
I have:
HTC Desire with LeeDrOiD GB V3.0.8.2 Bravo
Hopefully it use AP2SD+ right
My Titanium backup says:
System ROM: 262 MB (19,2 MB free)
Internal: 158 MB (16,1 MB free)
SD card: 7,23 GB MB (25,8 MB free) ... this is not problem, I just need to erase bunch of mp3, etc...
SD caRD (a2sd): 697 MB (508 MB free)
LeeDrOiD GB V3.0.8.2 Bravo - Nice room, a bunch of unusefull apps but small, probably not big deal.
I prefer my own apss:
music - Mixing
calendar - Busssiness calendar
RealCalc
ES File Explorer
TeamViewer... Alots of them use soo many Internal memory.
Nimbuz.. Also take too much
A long time ago I have erased flash app... Easy live with that. Always fighting with Google earth update to get it right - to have enough memory before update...
LOVE HTC Desire, but that memory... As you can see I am moding user, like to have my apps and right setup.
TO eassy it, to find solutions for me, some more info for you:
I was thinking about to get different ROM.
I think I can live without Sense - using Mail widget and news widged.. but I think it can be raplaced with other market apps... I liked go launcher EX, but didnt have memory space to play with it - therfore it was erased.
I was reading something about HTC allow more freelly deal with this HTC desire memory problem... Didnt find solutions yet.
The 'solution' I found was to sell my Desire and buy a Samsung galaxy 2.
The internal storage on the Desire is just too small for many users, and the complicated and unsupported hacks to expand it with SD card storage are buggy and error prone.

I support this solution!
Yes, I was thinking about that. But I was choosing/looking for my phone soo hard and thinking that this is RIGHT form me... Unofrtunatelly I forgot about memory... My first touch screen phone... (right screen size.. not to big, not too expensive, but new technology- something better, good forum support...) I think you understand.
It is a bit hard for me to buy new one soo early. But I will have to.
OK, I take this as solution.
I ma strongly thinking about to get small or the smallest room which I can get...
Maybe Cyanogen
Any recomendations?
Redux 2 or dGB
Sent from my Redux 2 Desire
Smallest rom you can get right now is dGB. It uses only 60 MB of /system.
SwiftKeyed from dGB with Transparent XDA App
Yes, I am going to try each one.

I have no idea where did I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045824

Titanium or My Backup will do thing.
It is worth of trying and I recommend it if you want Sense ROM but you need good sd card. I had some lags so switched back to Redux 2.
Hi everybody,
I've rooted my HTC Desire and installed the InsertCoin Sense 2.1 CM7 1.1.4 ROM. It works great, but the main resean of rooting my phone is creating more space on internal memory.
So, I've installed Titanium backup and moved my apps to SD. With the 'App2SD' app I can see the apps moved to the SD card. But unfortunately the available space on the phone itself didn't change. So now I'm stuck with 8.41 MB of free internal memory.
Who knows a solution???

Great, this was exactly what I'm looking for. Now I understand the difference between A2SD+ and CM7. I've installed the latter, hence the internal memory problem. Changing to the A2SD version will probably fix this, but I read a lot about the CM7 being faster than the A2SD.
I'm gonna give it a try!

glad it was useful, also reassuring to hear that you're learning along the way!
I solved the problem and compared to rooting and s-offing the phone, this was really easy. It wasn't necessary to install the A2SD version. I stayed with the CM7 version of Insertcoin because of the speed advantages compared to A2SD.
The trick is to install a new hboot table. The original leaves little space for apps to install. I downloaded a new partition table from alpharev.nl (Bravo CM7 r2). Make sure you pick the PB99IMG file and after downloading rename it to PB99IMG.zip. After checking the checksum, I copied it to the root of SD card on the phone. Switched off the power and went into fastboot (hold power and volume down and navigate to fastboot). There you'll be prompted if you want to install the update. Select yes and the new table was installed in seconds. I rebooted the phone, and without re-installing backups, it worked instantly! Now I have 145 MB free! It sounds like an advertisement, but it wasn't any more difficult than this. No need for using command prompts or android flasher...
