YouTube app will not load video despite wifi or 3g - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Can't seem to get the YouTube app to play video. Tried two different roms and no dice. Its almost like there's no data traffic on either wifi or 3g. Has anyone else had this issue?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Running stock ROM with no problem here. If I were you, I would try another ROM or a new/old version of the same ROM. Sometimes apps get broken in ROMs.

Dang haha, but I love this rom !!! I suppose I could nandroid back to stock... Anyone else had this?? Bump!!

Uninstall YouTube. And redownload it from the market, what ROMs are you using? kernel?

Running stock and its runs beautifully
I prefer stock over custom ROMs in terms of stability and overall battery performance.

Latest build is #7-2... maybe you should update your Bigxie ROM?
Latest franco kernel is also #11. It's a very good kernel, improved from his previous builds. Update that as well.
I'd recommend doing a FULL WIPE (wipe factory settings, cache, dalvik) and flashing the ROM then gapps then kernel.

also update your radio to kk6 if you havent already.

or one of the latest UG radios. UG radios = optimized for North America. But I personally use XXKK6 over the UG radios. Up to you, I'd try both and see which one is better for you because mileages will vary.

New update kernel

With the new update for the evo can I now use that kernel on other roms that run 2.3 with sense 2.1 and will it fix the brightness issue?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Depends on the rom! Just from my experience the version MIK tweaked from the MikG v1.0 - Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0
[Kernel] - 2.6.35.10-htc-kernal_and18-2 - from the OTA:" worked for me on misfits and of course miks rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038967
It is in his OP thread.
I am running Gengersense B4, and I spent today updating to all of the new radios. The last thing I did was find the kernel included in yesterday's Gingerbread OTA, and of course, my Wifi now says "error".
The brightness problem with the leaked GB kernel is fixed, but my wifi no longer works. Anyone else with this problem?
I'm using Sac's Kingdom Rom V4 and the new kernel fixed my brightness issue (also made everything run much smoother).
Ya I updated all that crap and then my phone wouldn't sleep. Sometimes don't fix it if it ain't broke. I will probably try it again though.

Did you update to the 2.15 PRI? I know the 1.90 was quirky with newer baseband versions and was causing wakelock. I went with 2.15 today and also update the radio to 05.02, and I'm not getting any wakelock.

Is your wifi working? I'm frustrated because I finally got this rom fixed up for everyday use, the new radios were working great, and my LAST task to update the kernel fixed the brightness, but made my wifi crap out.
There are 2 kernels out one for the stock ota update and one modified for all other ROMs make sure you have the right one .
Here is a link .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038701
But I think you could find it in that link a few posts up from the mikg ROM.

Thanks linsalata28. I probably flashed the kernel for the stock rom. I need to flash the other kernel for Gengersense, correct?
I will post back after trying the non-stock.

[Q] Can't flash KT747 kernel on Slim Bean Rom?

I'm running Slim Bean 3.1.0 on my SGS3. Recently, I've been trying to flash the AGAT and KT747 kernels on my phone, but with no success.
I've tried flashing kernel, wipe cache/dalvik, rebooting, and then installing the Slim Rom file over it.
Anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

98% Sure you are trying to mix an AOSP based ROM with a TW (Stock) type Kernel. That doesn't typically work. There is an option for the AOSP version of Ktoonsez kernel though that _should_ be a better fit with that ROM.
Have fun and continue to read up *Grin*
The thing is, I'm almost positive I downloaded the AOSP version for the KT747 kernel

That's a good start, the AGAT says LJ7 based in the Post, leading one to believe it is for TW ROMS. And on the Ktoonsez it does have a download link for either TW or AOSP. One you are looking for should be named "KT747-Kernel-AOSP-JB-SPR-12-11-2012.zip". Verify that and speak up again if you are still having issues.
Yes, I'm certain that was the file I flashed, because I remembered noting that the file was 7.72MB prior to downloading.
Also, I'm sure that the Slim Rom is compatible with the KT747 kernel because several posts were made on the thread saying that
the battery life was amazing, which made me wonder if I was doing something wrong.

Reading your original post, The order should go 1) ROM then 2) Kernel ... Then Wiping Cache and Dalvik-Cache (And other wipes if needed). Reason for this is if you flash the Kernel first, then the Rom you are over writing the custom Kernel with whatever is packaged with the ROM.
That is the only other obvious thing I see at this point. Hope that helps..

See that now, thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
Please report back on how you like it, and if you really notice any differences.
It dropped 1% in approximately 30 minutes, half of the time the screen was just on, other half I left it on my desk (all while connected to Wifi).
My settings are 96/1998 on ktoonservative.
In my opinion, so far its amazing as compared to other AOSP roms I've tried.

If your using the I9300, i would check the thread for that phone. Otherwise you risk bricking it flashing something from this one.. This is for the US Variant SPH-L710.

Smoothest/Best Battery Life CM9/9.1 ROM

Like the title says, I'm tired of the 4.0.4 TW or JB ROMs, I want to go back to something reliable and smooth. Any suggestions on the best cm9/9.1 ROMs?
I'm downloading the CM 9.1 ROM with their stock kernel, so please let me know what's the best out there for ICS.
Thanks
Any reason you want to stay with CM9? I was running the latest CM10 nightly and it was fast/stable and got great battery life.

Call echo is a big issue, also there isn't a completely stable release of JB out yet.

Check with most dev's they'll almost all tell you that the echo on JB builds is due to the kernel. 4.1.2, 4.2, and the TW version of 4.1.2 all suffer from the echo, some DEVICES themselves don't have the problem.
I've had no problem with call echo on JB 4.2.2 I always use an older CWM non touch version and use darkside super wipe and darkside cache cleaner. Tried using touch CWM recovery and had an issue. I live by CWM 5.0.2.7 non-touch.

If your T989 (Titanium, its the official color name) is having problems you might wanna look into the official ported release of Touchwiz 4.1.2. It is a superlite ROM made by vincom. I haven't tried it out but before you permanently revert to CM9 you could try it out and see if it fixes your problem.

[Q] Can I flash any kernel after flashing a rom?

I use cm10 build 6, can I go ahead and pick a kernel to flash over the stock cm kernel?
Well the kernel you want must be compatible with the rom you are using and your device. For example if you are on CM10 you must flash kernels built for CM10/jelly bean. Otherwise you will get boot loops.
There might be some kernels for CM10 in the development section of Galaxy wonder.

If kernel is for your Custom ROM that you have, you obv can.
flash the kernel that is exactly for ur ROM
kernel that is for CM10
kernel that is for CM9

It's better to stay with the same Kernel, from my point of view, I guess if you shared with us why do you wanna change the Kernel, there might be a solution for your problem, a friend of mine Flashed a different kernel and it was supposed to be compatible, but still he had problems and he flashed everything back again.
I wanted to use other governors. Btw I flashed a new kernel and it seems fine as of now

Good for you, as long as everything is working smoothly, then good luck with the new Kernel:good:
is it really just limited by CM9/CM10? Like if I am using acro's cm9 RC6 and the kernel was released after RC7 was released, maybe some of the extra features in RC7 causes a slightly different coding for the kernel which of course may cause problems if you use it on RC6?
also i suppose there's no need for clearing data/cache, fixing permission etc when flashing kernel right?
sorry if I'm not supposed to ask questions in a question. I just feel this is relevant to the title and i feel that it is better when people can just read this post and learn more about kernels. The list of how-tos in the dev section has not much details on kernels

No need to do that. But just to play everything save it is better to do wipe cache and dalvik no need to wipe data

Try Chilly's pacman rom. It has CM10 plus a lot more. It's quite stable. I think you'll want the 4-20 version.
Try chilly's cm10 rom its the one im using and its the most stable of all his jellybean roms. Use aero's v15 ics kernel too and use smoothass govenor andcset ur min and max 2 higer than the original and clear ur dalvik cache using android tweaker 2 every now and again to avoid lagging and boot loops. Ive been on it or awhile using those settings and tweaks and it works great on cdma.
