[Q] Exchange is receiving emails when push is set to Never? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have my corporate email set up on my GNex and it works fine most of the time. About once a night, though, it will pull emails onto my phone and alert me of them even though the push settings are set to Never. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have an exchange account set up to check every 30 min but I always get push notifications of new email still. It's really annoying cause I really don't need it to push me the emails for that account.

Automatic mail receiving

Hi!
I have one simple question
How can i setup my mail to receive every mail automaticly, without pressing send/recieive button when i expect some?
You could set the settings to check the Mail-Inbox every XX Minutes. These settings you can easely change going to your account settings for you mail. If you have the ability to sync with an Exchange Server, maybe from your work or Enterprise, you could use Direct Push. This lets you get Emails immediately. But this depends on what you want and what is possible for you.
Always notice that battery drain is higher then without it.
Thx for replays
I know that i can set the settings to check every xx minutes, but I need to get mail immediately. How can i set up direct push?

First we need to know what is your Service provider for your email. If it´s something private like [email protected] or [email protected] i think it won´t be possible, because they don´t have Direct Push functionallety. Some days ago, Google Mail startet a free Direct Push Service. If you have an account there follow these instructions: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
If you don´t have an Gmail account you could search if your Service Provider has a additional payed Push Service for you.
Another thing you could do is to setup an Google Mail account and automaticly forward all you messages directly to your Gmail account. Then you would be able to recieve immediately your emails from your other account over Direct Push.
Hope it helps a little bit.
I had [email protected] mail adress, but i can use every mail adress I want. So i setup gmail account and it is working i sent few mails to my other email adress and it is working, and when i replay from computer to phone and on the phone click send/receive, i see new mails. But i dont get any notification that i get new mail. Maybe a stupid question, do I need to have wifi on? And how to get notifications for new incoming mails now?

If you want to recieve mails without having to press everytime Send/Recieve Button you can change the Settings for your account on you Phone. There should be an Option to automatically recieve mails every xx Minutes/Hours.
Or take a look at the Google Sync page i´ve posted before. Then you can setup Direct Push for real time reception, without having to press Send/Recieve Button.
Hi, is it possible to set the email can be download in specified period automatically (say from 9:00am to 6:00pm)? Thanks!

With activesync and push mail you can. It has a special setting for 'down time' where you can tell it to only check mail every xx minutes or hours
Now i have synced google mail with active sync and everything was allright, but again, when i send email from a different account to my gmail account on the phone, i dont get mail, and i dont get notification (email notification is set to on btw), i need to press send/receive... What is the problem now?
is your data turned on? IF you're using something like HDTweak to turn off data after a certain amount of time it's not going to work. Your data connection should always be on for PUSH to work.
you need a push mail you can download (emozemail) its free i tested it its verry good you can receive a real time mail automatically and instantly
I didnt find where to turn off data in HDTweak..
And i didnt changed anything in that so is it turned off?
And btw, phone is trying to connect to internet every i-dont-know minutes with gprs (dont work) and then with wifi and then nothing happens. I get notification for maybe 1 out of 10 mails now..

Help!!! Email (MS Exchange server) wont push or auto download!

So I set up my email on the TP2 and everything works ok except for the fact that I have to click on Send and Receive to retrieve my email! I have another Gmail account that downloads every 5min but the Exchange account does not have that option and the mail is not being pushed to my TP2. Any ideas? or is there a way to set the MS exchange account to also auto dl every 5 min??
oh forgot to mention that my iphone has no issues with the mail being pushed to it

If you are having your device connect every 5 minutes, this is not push e-mail. This is called pull e-mail. Push is when the server side sends the mail to the device. Pull is when the device connects, checks and grabs new mail. Pull is more resource intensive and drains the battery much faster as a result. Push isn't determined by the device you are using, but by the service you connect to. If your exchange account isn't supporting push, then the device won't either.
As for your iPhone doing push, it isn't the same. Apple maintains an IMAP connection to the mail account for you on their servers and push new mail to you when they see it.
This is a VERY simplified explanation of what actually happens, but hopefully you understand. An easy alternative to having a similar push experience to your iPhone is to use SEVEN. It works in the same manner I described. They check your e-mail for you, and push it to your device when new mail arrives.

Exchange push bug

I have an email in the stock mail app using exchange activesync. I decided I didn't need it to push the emails so I set it to check every half hour. I just noticed that it is still pushing all email to me instead of checking every half hour. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Mine is set to 15 min and works properly.
If you enter the mail app, it refreshes right away.

I'm not in the mail app. If I send an email to the exchange account I will get a notification almost instantly that I got an email in that account. Shouldn't it be waiting until the half hour is up and then check for email and then I get the notification that email has come in?
It sounds like yours is still pushing. Maybe your exchange server is enforcing some kind of push policy.

For me it's pushed automatically but notification is not playing for any emails

[Q] Sync/Push Question

Hopefully this is a simple question.
When I have Sync for Exchange "Disabled", should I still be receiving e-mails? I have them set to "Push" under settings.
I have disabled Exchange Sync at night and I still get woken up in the middle of the night with emails.
TIA!

thats because you need to change the email notificatin alert sound to silent. the sync has nothing to do with it.
Thanks. What I'm asking is if sync is turned off, shouldn't that stop the emails? I can't turn off notifications because I need to receive text messages for call outs.
I miss the peak hours setting in setup in pre cm9 roms.

If you have it set to "push" they will come. Why not just put the phone on silent during you sleeping period?

Issues after updating to kitkat

Hello,
I have a note 3 and galaxy gear. After updating to kitkat I have this problem with the phone constantly notifying me of new emails, even though I have already acknowledged the email. Prior to updating, I was able to swipe the new email notification and It would not renotify me until a new email was received, now after about every 15 mins I get a notification to my phone and my gear saying there is a new email even though its the same email as before.
The only way to stop my phone from renotifying me is to delete the email completely. I have ensured that Gmail notifactions are off, and am only using the email samsung app.
This was working fine before but now I am going crazy and not even wearing my watch because it is so damn annoying.

update.
I have removed the gmail account from the 'accounts' area of settings and re added it. I am still getting a notice of new emails every 15 mins (the sync setting) regardless of having a new email or not.
I cannot find anyone else having this issue... and i have 5 email accounts tied to this phone, and only the primary/default account is having this persistent notification issue.
Any ideas?

I have also cleared all data and cache for the email app.... as soon as I add my gmail account it starts notifying me every sync of the first email in my inbox.
I guess I am going to go to tmobile and get a new phone unless anyone has any other ideas.

I checked my gmail settings from a computer, and it shows IMAP and POP enabled.
For some odd reason it appears the issue may have been resolved, and I have not modified anything since again deleting the data/cache.
Should POP be disabled and only IMAP enabled? the phone is set up to utilize IMAP not POP.

Your phone had a hiccup. Not a hardware issue. It happened from time to time. It self fixed itself when it got caught up.
