hi, i just installed GTA III on my arc L15i, lags like hell, searched for fixes and installed one, lag is little bit less but still lags, tried overclocking cpu to 1.4 but still lags.
why?
Try V6 Supercharger and a couple of speed tweaks and see if the issue is still there.
My GTAIII is completely lag free.
GTAIII is litlle lagy..
My gtaiii lags when rain fall..but this is completly game for PC, not so much ported realy for PHONE...
only litlle modified..so be happy to run it anyway

Really? Have you V6 Supercharger installed?
I don't notice any lag except I have to much MODs (since 90% of all PC' MODs works for Android too ) running.
yea supercharghed :/
Version 1.0 is run great but not lag free ,u still can notice some lag.
Version 1.2 is lag like hell.
Sorry guys, then I cant help you too.
Maybe because I've a Arc S, but that shouldn't matter if you overclock to 1,4 GHz.
I just found out it runs good on iPod Touch 4G AND IT HAS AN 800Mhz CPU, there is little little lag in it but still runs good, WWWHHHYYY!!!

If they do the game for iOS they can optimize it much betterm as there are much less iOS devices than Android devices.
So it's more optimized for your iTouch than for your Arc.
Best GTA III experience do you get on the iPad 2. Believe me, buttery smooth.
But I don't game much, just bougt it to look at it and play a little sometimes.

GTA 3 is a game made for a dualcore processor...
But on my Arc i don't have a lot of lag, using arconium5.6, doomkernel v15 @ 1.4ghz and supercharger v6...
You can also delete the audio folder, or just delete the radio only
To delete the radio only, go to the audio folder, sort by largest files, and then don't delete the largest, but delete the 11 or 9 ( not sure ) files following than

The game is for Dual Core Phones, But it is also optimized to run on Xperia Play, and Only Xperia Play have Dual Channel Ram running @ 300mhz, that's why Playing games on Xplay is smoother than Arc or any 2011 Xperia out there

Okay, that's right, but every Arc or Arc S could play it quite smooth with some tweaks.
I'm not having any issue with stock GTAIII, and I've already seen a colleague with the SGS2 with more issues than me.
Future phones really need dual core processors, but imo current devices don't need it (I'm not talking about 2012 devices).
PS: I'm only posting my opinion, so don't come with some "you're a idiot" like in this very other thread.

or maybe because i use link2sd for all my apps, kept ROM usage as low as posible..delete the catch often and kill all process before playing

does n e 1 notice that the xperia play from sony ericsson is jus like all the other xperias but with a certified game pad. the xperia play doesnt have any better specs than most of the other xperias. most of them carry a cpu of 1ghz and a gpu of adreno 200.
What i expected from the xperia play when i 1st saw it was a gaming device a fast cpu like 1.4 dual core or atleast a 1ghz dual core and more ram and internal memory
when i compared my play to and ipod touch graphics to me the ipod won for graphics, i was so ashamed of sony ericsson and i think that the Xplay, for a gaming device should of been thought of a little bit more with the specs
whose with me on this???
and who thinks that sony should do what sony ericsson didn't and make a real XPERIA PLAY!!!
Well of course we hope they bring out a sequel. There already have been many threads on this. And seriously, the specs seem fine to me. We don't need dual core killing our batteries twice as fast

I think KeiranFTW and/or DooMLord could better answer what's been changed beside name. Maybe because zram is a little more accurate of a term .. I know compcache could have negative side effects, maybe its smarter now. But I'm not the best guy to answer, I just know what it is and does

Hello there
I have been using an Xperia Mini for some time now and while the phone does everything i'd expect from a low end phone it's not good for gaming and i was thinking about getting a newer better phone, and while the Xperia S's lack of SD expansion option is a downer (i have a 32GB SD card :crying: ) i like the HD screen so much and i was considering either the Galaxy S2 or the Xperia S, and i heard that some people are experiencing lag when playing some modern 3D games, so i want an honest opinion from the phone owners.
So what do you think? should i get Xperia S or Galaxy S2 ?
Thanks in advance
With the stock ICS I have been experiencing some lag in games.
After upgrading to Jelly Bean (CM10) it was buttery smooth.
Screen is amazing on the phone, so no problem with gaming.
I suggest you after buying phone, right away unlock bootloader and flash CM10, if you're into mobile gaming.

Are we talking lag on all games or just the heavy 3d ones?
I am also considering the Galaxy Nexus but the 16GB limit is frustrating for me
I wouldn't call it lag.Sometimes it stutters for a second in heavy 3D games.

Why not tx or ion?
ion has a 4.6' screen and the cool brushed aluminum back cover.
tx has the better cpu(8260A).
And Ion has a sd card slot
All games run fine on ICS, too.
honestly i don't have the funds for those phones
i am kinda between the galaxy nexus, galaxy s2 and the Xperia S. and since my last phone was a Sony i am kinda rooting for the S but the gaming performance is really important to me since the Xperia Mini really gave me a hard time with games.

On stock ics it has some problems sometimes with lag, but its rare, and only in heavy 3d games, on CM10 i had not a single problem with lags. But remember to check "disable HW overlay" because it gives some problems in few games

thank you so much, are you a heavy gamer?
just one last question, is this lag a problem with the CPU or the GPU ? , if i get the XPERIA SL with it's 1.7 GHz CPU would it be any better? and does it have the same support the S has here on the android development forum?
I don't play every heavy game. I already tried NOVA 2, played NFS: MW till the end, half of Asphalt 7, played a little with GTA III, and other 2D-3D games (2D style, 3D graphics, such as Bad Piggies and Airbag Frank (also, really addicting game, btw).
Except for a FPS dropdown for a few seconds on MW, all those games run perfectly, even on ICS firmware.

SL is like a twin brother of S, basically it's a slightly overclocked version of S .Also SL has better build quality and a little bit better screen.

Hi, i have a Xperia SL and i play Modern Combat 3, The Dark Knight Rises, Dead Space, Shadowgun, MASS Effect and other games without any kind of problem with stock ICS 4.0.4. I'm very happy with my phone, is good for gaming. Sorry for my english.
I got Xperia S and I ma a heavy gamer
here is list of games I have played so far with ICS .45 (now I am at .55)
Dead Space = No Lag, Very Smooth Gameplay with Awsome HD Graphic. :victory:
NFS: Most Wanted = Nice Graphic, Smooth Game play, sometime Frame drop a little.
Wild Blood = Very Smooth Gameplay, No Lag.
Asphalt 7 = Smooth Gameplay
Dead Trigger = Very Very Smooth Gameplay, No Lag.
ShadowGun = Very Smooth Gameplay, No a single Lag at all. :good:
Blood and Glory: Legend = Smoot + no lag
All Angry Birds Series = Very Smooth Gameplay, No Lag.
BackStab HD: gameplay is good but little lag (Remember I played an out dated version and in the new version the lag was fixed)
10. Riptide GP v1.4.2 = Best HD Racing game ever.
11. Expendable Rearmed = Smooth, no lag.
12. Temple run, Temple Run BRAVE, Subway Surfers, Agent Dash = Runs perfectly
Also played many HD game and I didn't have any problem. sometime few games lag a bit but the Lag was not noticeable and didn't interrupt my gameplay. BTW, Before I had Xperia NEO and gameplay was really BAD :crying: but Now with xperia S, Gameplay is Awesome :victory:

Since I previously owned an LG optimus black which was my very first android mobile and its lagging and lack of development forced me to trade it off
Thanks as u drop ur replies.
the xperia 2012 line has great graphics...so great in fact that some companies have not built games to support the phones need T_T
(gameloft,EA)
i own xperia s(same with xperia acro s,but not water-dust-whatever proof) so
this phone is exellent when it comes to games...what makes it so good?
dualcore snapgadron s3 clocked to 1.5 ghz...ok maybe not the fastest in market but gets the job done and really good imho..you wont have any problem with any game...
1gb of ram
This super screen.....4.3 inch of beauty (correction~SUPER BEAUTIFULL HD SCREEN~)
Games ive tested:
dead space-no lag at all
dead trigger- same
dead on arrival-same
modern combat 3 -no lags
modern combat 4(tested it with jelly bean rom)- good but not the smoothest experience... but i think thats because of the game released just now and not because of the phone
Also when the official jb come out the phone will fly at games(my opinion cause with unofficial jb rom it has better performance

Judging by the graphics, I believe it's not the question of GB/ICS/JB, but of a better processor/GPU.

Precisely. Considering it's not playable despite an overclock to 1.7 GHz, maybe it needs two to four cores, a better GPU, and more memory to run. Just saying. Haven't particularly tried it, but it does seem to be the case. If you have a friend that has a better-spec'd phone, maybe you could try it out there.

Hi. I need help on choosing which is the better device, the HTC One S or the Sony Xperia S. I know these devices was released a year ago but I want to know if it can still compete on today's smartphones esp. flagship phones.
Please rate/answer. Thanks
-UI
-Performance
-Can it still compete on today's smartphones?
-Will it support the latest Android version?
and
-PROS AND CONS of Sony Xperia S (in your opinion)
I did search and read reviews, but the reviews was posted a year ago. lol
UI: Sony
Performance: Htc One s
Can it still compete on today's smartphones? : NO
-Will it support the latest Android version? : Never
and
-PROS AND CONS of Sony Xperia S (in your opinion)
PROS: Everything......!!
Cons: Nothing...... Although there are few bugs in JB Like 1080p or 2G but it will be solved by sony in near future......
Choice is Yours...!
Thanks for answering. What do you mean by "everything" in PROS?
Does it lag on:
-playing 3d games?
-multitasking?
One S is better

On Adreno 220 you cannot expect too much.
some common games will run OK.
Multitasking.....not really..
XS has Adreno 220 and HTC One S has Adreno 225. Both are outdated.
So gaming and other graphical performances are way inferior to today's level.
What's your budget?
Why don't you think of Xperia SP?
I am just a student so I cannot afford today's high end smartphones. Can Adreno 220 and 225 still play 3d games smoothly (e.g NFS, GTA)? Because I previously own an iPhone 4 and I can say NFS runs ok (rarely lags but loads slow).
get an xs that is bootloader unlockable and have fun

No GTA VC
NFS MW, Real racing 3 runs smoothly on my Xperia™ Ion.
but if you can afford Xperia S then Xperia Sp wouldn't cost more and you will get new Android updates as well.
Not like Xperia S which is betrayed by a Snapdragon S3 chipset.
I own Xperia S and very recently tested ONE S as possible candidate for a replacement but since there is a hope that all annoying bugs will be fixed by Sony and @letama is already working on 4.3 I will not replace it until my contract ends in November.
My thoughts after side by side test:
Differences in gaming? I could not notice any big difference. Most 3d rpgs and racing games work well enough with occasional hangups or lags on both phones. Cpu and Gpu is slightly better in ONE S on paper but benchmarks and real world experience is very similiar.
Camera? Xperia S has better camera and both handsets are capable of 1080 video recording. In my opinion Xperia S is better for still pictures but for obvious reason I could not compare 1080 video.
Screen? Xperia S has better resolution and nicer feel of the screen.
Future? I don't know much about ONE S development progress. Check out their forums for prognoses about 4.2/4.3. For Xperia S there is a hope for fully working 4.3. Mind that ONE S has only got 16GB of internal memory, compared to Xperia S (32GB) and both phones have no external card slot.
As a previous owner of some HTC devices I can tell that Sense UI is a matter of preference but it is very resource consuming. On both phones I would go for AOSP rom.
There is no clear winner and it's a matter of taste (and price). As a former Sony hater (before they promised to fix major bugs promptly i.e. several days ago) now I started to like and respect my current handset (given update will fix all current problems and will allow for further development of 4.3 at xda).
My personal advice would be to save some money and get a newer handset which has best support and development effort.
And the winner is : SONY XPERIA S
