[Q] Revert partition SD Card - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello all!
i did partition SD Card with Rom manager and now i want to revert it because the SD card shows that it has less capasity then it should (the original capacity minus the partition).
so how can i revert it?
Thank you!

No it doesn't show the partition, its a partition called SD ext on which you can store apps and data freeing up internal memory using a script like dta2sd. Some roms have it built into them to use it if its there but some don't which Rom are you using?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925982
Also there's an app to go with it called a2sdgui and makes all the basic commands easier.

It'ssupposed to show that way!nothing wrong!
For reverting just go to settings --storage--format/erase SD card (you will lose the 200mb extra as well as all data)

Android band + windows sd

Is there any way to run windows from the SD card / internal storage (I have tmous and 1GB ext, so space is not a problem) once android is installed to NAND? I couldn't find any info when I searched.

Confused with swap

I got a 16GB class, 10 memory card. I made a partition if 1gb and 0mb swap. Is that correct? What does the swap really help with?
I tried Google but couldn't really understand it properly. Someone can explain it to me in layman's terms? ^_^

That's a good size. Now install data2sd by jikanturu and you have more internal memory.
good enough?

I tried link2sd. It says no space left on the phone. :S

Link?
Can you provide the link to Data2SD? All the ones I found were deleted off of mediafire D:
Search Data2SDInstallerNXE2.zip and you'd get your desired thing on androidforums.com
Else pm me your email and I'd send you the zips....

Swap is fake ram. With class 10 SD card you had to use at least 128mb-256mb because wfs have only 512mb ram
Don't bother with swap, you don't need it. Swap is just using disk space as RAM. But since the SD card is significantly slower than RAM (even if it is a class 10), you won't be having a good time. I've got like 120 apps installed on my phone and I still have 100+MB of RAM available. You don't need swap. As for sd-ext, don't bother with all the many different scripts, the easiest way is just to download S2E from the Play Store, it does it all for you
do we need swap? http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Swap_and_Compcache
It's up to your choice.
my sdcard has 128mb swap.

Hi, I have a 4GB (Class 10) memory card. (872 MB -Ext4 Partition, 700 MB -Linux Swap and 2300 MB on Standard Partition) and using Link2SD. I have installed 30 apps and got only 45MB internal memory left.
But I see you got more internal memory.
1. How is this possible?
2. Can I now move on to S2E? If yes then how?
Thanks.

The best way to do it would be to backup all your apps and data with titanium backup, then reinstall your rom from scratch. Make your sd-ext partition bigger if you wish, then install S2E, let it mount your sd-ext and then restore everything with titanium backup.

Connect the phone with usb cable and choose Disk Drive, default is charging only, download MiniTool Partition Wizard Home from here, install and format the microsd, if is not ok, delete partition and than create fat32 partition, now disconnect usb cable and check, should be ok.
Thanks a lot man

Links2sd symbolic links

After I link an app in links2sd I go to manage applications and I see that the app I just linked is on my phones internal memory. Isn't it supposed to be on my sd cards second partition?
Link2SD creates a link on the internal storage. The phone is not aware that it's just a link, and reports that the apps are on the internal storage. This is perfectly normal for Link2SD.
But after I link a few apps it says insufficient storage. Doesn't that mean links2sd is actually using my internal storage

Reboot your phone. You should find that the free space has increased.
I rebooted and it's been stuck on the boot screen for 2 hours
Reboot into recovery and wipe both the cache and dalvik cache, then reboot again.
I rebooted and my internal memory is still the same. Also if the links trick the phone into thinking they're on the internal storage will they also trick applications like disk usage?
Sent from my Wildfire S A510e using xda app-developers app
You can view the /data/sdext2 partition in DiskUsage. You can also check in Link2SD "storage Info".
In the settings for Link2SD, make sure Auto Link is turned on and also enable Link application file, Link dalvik-cache file, and Link library files.
Thanks for your help

Before you create a link to the SD card, the apps have to be on the internal memory, maybe you had them on the SD card and that was the problem.
Why what happens if they're on the sd card

Don't know, I've just read it somewhere. I'm sure nothing bad, maybe nothing and it will work properly, but all my app were on the internal memory before I created a link to the SD card, and everything works fine and I still have a lot of space on the internal.
I am also facing the reported issue and don't understand why does it keeps on reducing my internal memory and if I place my apps on internal memory and then link then what's the use since in one way or other I am consuming my internal memory.
Can anyone help.

Vold.fstab mod to swap sdcards not working

I rather have my 32gb as main sd just like my previous device and the one before that. I did the edit but when I reboot no sdcard is found.
There are two of these files but they seem to be the same because when I edit one the other is already edited. Folders are etc/ and system/etc.
I followed the guide like in rezound, amaze and many others. It may need manual remount command but I don't know which one is.
This is how it is originally
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard emmc /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmc_host
dev_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host
The mod is just renaming sdcard to sdcard2 and vice versa.
I'm not responsible if others try this and damage or brick anything on their own, I took the chance to see if it works. I'm looking for at least a suggestion.

I am very interested in getting this to work because the internal sd is only 4gb, I can't partition my external 32 sd card to transfer apps to ext sd. I can only get app data like gameloft games to external sd using gl to sd on playstore. Thanks for posting this.

I'm glad more users are interested.
Btw I'm currently using jmztotemc2 plus the linaro kernel. I have not tested this in full stock rom.

I've tested this and it didn't work, and had to reboot into recovery and restore and accidentally lost internal sd data.
