AR 3D. super wipe - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
was just wondering if the "super wipe" used for the "AndroidRevolution 3D" installation would work for installing other roms i keep on my sdcard?
Maybe a simple answer but im still learning this stuff.
Thanks

Yup, you can do that - I've used it for a good handful of ROM's myself too

x2, definitely works

Thanks for the reply )
Another question of subject a bit, I re-installed AR HD using super wipe. Strange thing is my background picture was still there. Also my set ringtone.
Is this because I flashed the same Rom or because I didn't clear dalvik cache etc?
Using Rom manager what do I need too clear on the three options apon installing a Rom??
Sorry for being nuisance.

Probably your wallpaper and ringtone is being restored from google servers. If you use superwipe, all cache already been wiped.

So super wipe is doing the correct job kool.
It isn't a problem it kept my wallpaper etc was a bonus was just strange.
Thanks for the reply.

Did you wipe data before flashing the Z rom?
Fixing the permissions.. how so you so that? And I let clock work wipe the data. Is that good enough? Thanks for the help.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Ok I googled "Fixing Permissions" and it said clock work mod can fix them.. but I couldn't open clock work at all :-(
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Its in rom manager. It can also b done thru clockwork.
sent from dinc
When clockwork wiped data, did it also wipe cache?
I thought Rom manager and clockwork were the same thing.. I can't get the app to open once I flash a Rom..
As far as wiping the cache. I checked the box in Rom manager, which I used to install the Rom with, it says wipe data and cache so unless it isn't doing it right. I'm not sure.. thanks again for the help.

Power down, hold power+volume down keys till u see hboot, then goto recovery, fix permissions
Edit :wenu install a new rom backup.then wipe data.wipe cache & dalvic(under advanced). Then flash rom

Ok cool.. so install the Rom in the hboot menu instead of within Rom manager.. Gotcha. Will give it shot. Thanks a lot

Just to be clear hboot & clockwork are 2 different things.

Rom manager>fix permissions. I always have to do this after flashing but it works!

You install the ROM in the Recovery menu (black background orange or green lettering - aka Clockwork) NOT from HBOOT, the white background with multicolored text.
Two very different things.
While you are at it, flash Incredibly Reengineered. Fast and amazing battery life.

OK I got Warm Z working now.. Its very slick! Love the sense 2.0.
I got one little problem.. I can't get mp3's to play or come up as my ringtone. They are stored on the SD card.
I gonna go visit the Warm z forum after work and see what I can find.
Thanks for all your help everyone.

Have u factory reset cleared cache and also cleared dalvik?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Alright..
Firstly, reboot into recovery and wipe full data & the dalvik cache.
Second, flash a rom to which your device fulfills all requirements (eg. not D2EXT, D++)
Third, restart your device after installing the ROM.
Fourth, WAIT!!!!! if it doesnt boot after like 15 minutes then something has gone wrong somewhere.
Just to make things easy to start with, you should try using a rom that doesn't require an ext2/3/4 partition and just uses fat. Unless you are confident you can do that correctly.

thanks all ,after wipe partition and wipe data factory , worked with me.
this wipe partion deleted my ext partition also?

Seriously, you should do a little reading tutirials and guides on flashing.
You cannot flash a ROM with a different base on top of another - that's why the bootloops. (E.g. Flashing DHDport on top of Stock Rooted or GB on FROYO won't work without wiping).
Secondly, it is wiped it - ergo FORMATTED it, the ext partition is still there.

I understand that i have to see which radio can work with?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Listen, everybody's here to help each other. It's what we android users do.
A little of "Please", and "thank you very much", "you guys are great"... goes a long way...
As for the radio, the easiest would have been, to upgrade your stock system to Froyo 2.29 before running the ROM.
Stock, before a custom ROM. This would probably avoid any radio problems.
If your phone is working and you have no issues, then you shouldn't worry about it.
Some people, get a little angry, when the same problem happens over and over again, and there are posts to cover these problems.
But, I think most of us, will jump right in, and give a hand to those who ask politely. And give a big thanks, when the issue is fixed.
Oh, and all ROMs are not created to work with Desire...

[Q] HTC desire Z camera color problem

Hey everyone ,
since i rooted my phone i have problems with my camera , it keeps giving weird colors while making a picture or on camcorder, like you get purple, green and other diffrent colors who mess everything up, but sometimes the camera goes back to normal without those wierd colors in my screen... btw when i take a picture the colors are embedded in the picture too , and no this is not a camera effect i checked that all. Did this happen because i rooted my phone? more or less i've regret of rooting.
No it has nothing to do with rooting . what rom are you USING? Have you tried reinstalling the camera app or at least clearing the camera app cache?

Kingdom Rewind Sensless 3d

New to XDA, first post ever. Has anyone tried the new Kingdom Sensless 3d release and if so can you tell me if youtube is working as well as 720p video recording? Tried to post this in the developer section under the proper thread but it wouldnt let me since im new. Would love to know overall thoughts on this release as well. Thank you!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
I believe YouTube works with a workaround (wifi has to be on but not necessarily connected), but 720p isn't functional yet.
is my daily driver everything is working fine there is a lag on the 720 but the devs have explained that is do to the fact that they dont have the codes or something to build new kernels.. youtube works just fine... if you haven't try it yet just flash it... you wont regret it..
Sounds good. Thank you. And just to be sure, i boot into recovery, do a factory restore, wipe cache, then install the zip from sd card. Is that the proper method to install this or will that screw up my phone? Thanks again!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
Also, i currently have a different sense 3.0 rom installed. Do i have to flash back to the stock rom before i attempt to install a new one or can i flash a new rom over the one i currently have installed? Thanks again peeps!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
No you don't go back to stock before flashing, yes go to recovery do factory reset, then go to mounts and storage and wipe boot, system, data, cache go back under advanced & wipe dalvik. Now you can install your ROM

Thanks very much. Interestingly, when i go into recovery it brings me to a clockwork recovery screen where i cant do some of the things u mentioned. I only have the options to do a factory reset and wipe cash. Is that enough? Does it matter what order u do them in? I also noticed that in titanium backup there is an option to delete the dalvic from there. Is that ok to do?

Also, you can format system in the mounts and storage menu. The rom's install script should include this, but never hurts to be safe.

HTC Desire HD ROM issues

Hey guys,
I am using an HTC DHD for the last year, and i've encountered issues with different ROMs
These are the ROMs ive been using, varying from one to another, looking for the most efficient / best performance.
List of ROMs:
ICS
Cyanogen (many versions)
CodefireX (ace-4.2.2-SR15, ace-OpenMaster-SR19)
JellyBean
TrainWreck4.2nov18
ace_PAC_JB_4.2.2-v21.0.1_20130317-080548 - Currently using
So far the best ROM for performance is the one im using (ace_PAC_JB_4.2.2-v21.0.1_20130317-080548)
Yet i cannot open "Google play store", nor many other applications such as "Waze","iGo" even "Subway surfers" , i see the loading screen, and then the app just closes itself.
I'll be glad to have some assistance, maybe logs i can see.. any suggestion is welcome.
Thanks

The most efficient/best performance roms will be ones based on official firmware. Arhd6 etc.
As for the fc's, in application manager have you tried 'clear data' and 'clear cache' on the apps that are force closing?
You have flashed gapps?

Yes indeed i have cleared the cache, i even deleted the app itself after cleaning the cache.
here are the steps as i do the ROM installation.
1) I copy the zip file to the SD-card.
2) - reboot into recovery mod
- wipe data/factory reset
3) - Install ZIP from sdcard
4) then i chose the zip (ROM) i want to install.
That's it....
weird stuff going on...
Thanks

Could you be more specific ?
By the way the custom ROM flash guide is starting with gingerbread and some older versions, can you point me the starting step?
And a small matter, which seems to be neglected... its a Galaxy guide, should these steps be ok with an HTC DHD device ?
Thanks, sorry for overloading with Questions....
Peace.
