[Q] HTC desire Z camera color problem - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone ,
since i rooted my phone i have problems with my camera , it keeps giving weird colors while making a picture or on camcorder, like you get purple, green and other diffrent colors who mess everything up, but sometimes the camera goes back to normal without those wierd colors in my screen... btw when i take a picture the colors are embedded in the picture too , and no this is not a camera effect i checked that all. Did this happen because i rooted my phone? more or less i've regret of rooting.

No it has nothing to do with rooting . what rom are you USING? Have you tried reinstalling the camera app or at least clearing the camera app cache?

Can some one please check. I rooted the phone and the buttons were working after that. But they stopped working after I installed unlock sgs app from market. Did anyone faced any of these issues.
Problem is all the 4 buttons didn't work no LED light and no function.
I have the kernel version of 2.6.35.11. Which one you think is good.
took the battery out and restarted. But no effect. Still same. Any help will be greatly appreciated

None of the unlock apps from the market work on the T-mobile/Telus version of the sgs2, so maybe that might be the problem? Try uninstalling it..
Or try wiping dalvik cache?
If that doesn't work, backup the apps and stuff using titanium backup and flash the rom/kernal again (factory wipe, wipe dalvik cache and other cache)
Yeah try uninstalling that app then reboot into recovery and clear your dalvik cache.

Alright well then you're going to have to do a full wipe and re flash the ROM.
Not positive that will work, but it's your only option at this point. If that doesn't work, it might be a hardware problem.
EDIT: I guess you could try clearing both caches and flashing the same ROM without a full wipe.

any idea how to do that

Put the ROM on the root of your external sd card, reboot into recovery, go to backup/restore and do a backup, wipe data, clear cache, go to advanced and clear dalvik, go to install zip from sd, choose zip from sd, then click on the ROM .zip file.
Let me know if you need help.

Damn, definitely call Tmobile and get a replacement sent out. Just make sure to return your phone to stock before sending it back. Tell them you have already done a factory reset to save yourself some time.

Hi ken,
I did the exact same thing that you did. I was trying to unlock my Tmobile Galaxy S2 with that very same app and after that ,,,boom,,, the soft buttons all stopped working... no lights at all...I'm only able to use the touchscreen but not the buttons. I've researched a lot and a lot of people have suggested flashing different kernels and I've done that too but haven't been able to fix it even till today. Please let me know if you've figured it out. Thanks.

do the buttons work when you are in recovery?? If they work there then, it is a ROM issue, if they don't work in recovery, time to warranty exchange ...

Did someone fix the problem?

AR 3D. super wipe

hi
was just wondering if the "super wipe" used for the "AndroidRevolution 3D" installation would work for installing other roms i keep on my sdcard?
Maybe a simple answer but im still learning this stuff.
Thanks
Yup, you can do that - I've used it for a good handful of ROM's myself too
x2, definitely works
Thanks for the reply )
Another question of subject a bit, I re-installed AR HD using super wipe. Strange thing is my background picture was still there. Also my set ringtone.
Is this because I flashed the same Rom or because I didn't clear dalvik cache etc?
Using Rom manager what do I need too clear on the three options apon installing a Rom??
Sorry for being nuisance.

Probably your wallpaper and ringtone is being restored from google servers. If you use superwipe, all cache already been wiped.
So super wipe is doing the correct job kool.
It isn't a problem it kept my wallpaper etc was a bonus was just strange.
Thanks for the reply.

Problems after flashing ROM!!!

I have a rooted Spice Mi-310 with Android 2.2 and I had market compaitibliy problems and for that I have done everything like changing build.prop, trying some apps like modder pro and etc.
All were failed then I talked to my friend about this and he said that you should upgrade your OS. So I thought downloading custom ROMs from ROM Manager from ClockworkMod will help and there I tried to backup my cuerrent ROM but my ROM was not in the list so I tried backing up or flashing up Google Nexus S ROM because I thought that I have changed my build.prop to Nexus S so this will work and it worked too.
And now my Camera is not working it is showing that "Cannot Connect to Camera" and now the battery is also not working properly.
Then I wanted to reset my Factory and now that also not working.....
Please help me. Helpers will be GREATLY APPRICIATED BY THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
if you can enter in clockwork mod then you can wipe data and cache...its problem with the rom that it doesnt support your hardware.....
you can get the stock rom service from spice website i think
Will it work after Uninstaling?

But should I clear cache from setting>applications?
and i also found that there is nothing like wipe data option in ROM Manager but I found it on Titanium Backup so should I Wipe Data from it?

[Q] Camera doesn't work after ROM flashing

Hi everybody,
last Thursday my phone had a boot loop, so I've decided to change the ROM.
I flashed my HTC Desire with Runny ROM 6.1.1 and since that time my camera doesn't work, flash either.
When I try to start camera app there is only black screen and phone restarts in 10 seconds.
I was trying with other ROM and official GB, but camera is simply dead.
Is there anything that I can do with it? Install some fix or update?
I have latest radio and cm7/r2 hboot.
Any ideas?
Do u test it by installing any camera app from play store?
with many apps but still the same effect
Try installing an AOSP build and check your result....what caused your phone boot loop?
Did you do a full wipe?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
What is AOSP?
Yes, I did full wipe and build the partitions on sd-card from scratch.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
AOSP is an original android rom, without HTC Sense or any other interface.(like sandvold's ics)

I don't know what caused boot loop, but I've tried cache and dalvik wipe, without success.
I will try later to flash some AOSP ROM and write here the results. Anyway I've tried already to flash RUU Gingerbread and camera was dead.
There's still no camera on AOSP Sandvolds ICS.
I think that I will disassemble my Desire and check the connections.
Wipe everything.
Boot, system, data, cache, dalvik. Then flash the ROM again. Wiping everything before flashing should be standard procedure for you.
I did it 3 or 4 times in a row. Nothing changed.

Hardware problem, try with connectors, but I think that you'll need a camera replacement.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
ok, I disassembled my phone and checked all connections. Camera still doesn't work, but phone don't switch off when I try to execute camera app.
I will try one more time to do something with software.
Hi guys, ich disassembled my Desire one more time and guess what. There was one contanc loose. On the lower main board the left board-to-board connector. I put it into the socket and now everything works perfectly!
Anyway thank for your tipps guys!
