So I've searched through the forums a bit and can't seem to find an answer to my question... hopefully some of you have the answer though. When I'm driving I plug both my car charger and auxiliary audio jack into my phone so that it will charge while playing pandora. Problem is when I do this, the phone seems to think I've plugged it into a dock, and locks the phone into landscape mode.
I 'believe' I'm running DoomKernel for CDMA V1 and the 2.3.3 system... but it's been about a month since I've touched anything on it so I could be mistaken/forgot what I did to it last.
Anyone have a suggestion on how to unlock this orientation? It even stays this way after I unplug it sometimes.

I just reboot when it did that to me. It's a glitch I think.
Never happened after I stopped using my off brand charger tho
I started using the USB / Charger thing from the factory and it quit happening
hmmm.... this answered a question i posted earlier. I was having the same problem today when i rebooted my phone while plugged into my PC via USB. It never did it before until today, right after i tried a mod, that failed, and i lost my notification bar. it freaked me the hell out, i thought i broke it! I even did nandroid restore, wiped cache, everything! just to unplug it from pc reboot it, and it was fine! I was like wth!?!?! I never did figure out why all of a sudden it does it, but it does everytime i reboot while USB is pluggen in. If anyone knows an answer please share.

The easiest way to fix this is to:
1) Unplug power
2) Wait a few seconds
3) Unplug headphones jack
4) Wait a few seconds
5) plug in headphones jack
(if it still sticks, 6) Unplug headphones jack))
That should turn off dock mode.
When you plug every in, plug in the audio first, wait for it to register (i.e. shows either the headphones notification, or music starts playing through whatever you have your phone hooked up to) then plug in the power cable

Hello,
If there is a thread about this subject, please direct me to it because I couldn't find it.
I have an XDA Cosmo running on WM6.1 (ricky's)
All was reasonably fine untill this sunday. All of a sudden it doesn't make any sound anymore and there is the headphone symbol displayed at the top. When I plug in a headphone, I can hear to that offcourse.
It is also very hard to sync it with my computer. I have to try dozen's of times.
I'm guessing that there is something wrong with the connector. Do you have any suggestions?
The strangest thing is that when I reboot my phone, it doesn't occur untill i plug something into the mini-usb connector.
Another strange thing was that it changed the colour of the homescreen automaticly overnight. I don't think the two problems are related, so any suggestions for this one?
yesterday, completely out of the blue, my phone had the speakerphone all the time on. I couldn't get it normal again. Then, later that day, the headphone symbol reappeared, so I couldn't make a call anymore.
When I connect it to my computer today, it keeps on switching between connected and not-connected for 2 minutes and then decides to be not connected. Even when I leave the room and there are no noticeable vibrations that could cause a bad connection.
Anyone has an idea? Because the phone is useless right now and I can't flash another rom when I can't connect it to my computer.
Greetings and thanks a lot for any piece of information.

turn off bluetooth
Bluetooth hasn't been on the last couple of months, so I don't think that that is the problem
This Is A Fix For One of the problems that make the screen to not turn on
I'm working on finding what cause the issue.
OKAY. I did research and test problems, solution, was able to recreate the problems at any time. Here It is.
The Problems is cause when you do something at the same time that you go in standby.
I'm Doing the test LIVE at the same time that im righting the post
Exemple: #1 Im pluging my headset and unpluging it, at the same time that im unpluging my headset and press the standby botton, SCREEN WON'T turn on anymore. (HERE, I did not let the time to my headset to fully unplug) I have to replug my headset and after that, the screen will turn on.
The Problems is that some times you do it a LOT. Like unplug replug unplug replug, and the sequence get all mest up
Now I redid it, And I was having to plug my headset ( screen open) Go in standby again and unplug Will im in standby.
Im trying to reproduce the same thing with my usb cable.
I was having the problems for like 2 days since I listen to my music in the car at the same time pluging my headset lol.
the last problem was fix with the usb cable and not the head set.
To solve the problem do the last thing you did in reverse
IF YOU SOLVE YOUR PROBLEME.
NEVER unplug went your in standby
Make shure that your phone is not doing something when you unplug any cable.
Some got it fix by the sd card. ..... Now I don't know.
did they when in standby at the same time as polling the card out ..... or maybe there is no link betwen
Any way this is how I solve my problems. Good Luck
Give me feedback Guys and Help me Finding other source of the problems.
Problems Hapen in Mightyrom AND stock rom
Seriusly I don't thing that the problems come from rom or software

Your situation suggests plugging an audio jack or USB cable back in? Reconnecting whatever you disconnected as the phone went into standby? What about situations when nothing was plugged in or no programs were activly running in the foreground? And if it failed to wake due to a running process or program (a situation I can reproduse at will), how do you go back and "undue it" as you suggest with the screen not powering up?
Please take no offense. I don't want to seem ungrateful for your efforts or observations... but I think announcing this issue has been "FIXED" is a bit premature.
Your right. its premature. But If your screen don't turn on, and you din't do anything, and flashing a new rom doesn't work then I think you have to send the phone for wanranty.
This is the first solution I found so ( even online but they was a guys that fix the problems with his sd card)..
But what I can do Ill try to reproduce the problems with other things. And everyone that come with a solution please post.
I spend hour to find that solution lol so help me

Take no offense.. But opening a lot of thread will not solve our problem.
Here there is a thread where we are tryng to solve this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619113
Maybe plugging cable can be a source of issue.. But the most of time that it happens i don't plug nothing!
So: unfortunately it is not fixed.
I have had my evo since June 4. but lately it started randomly going to the car panel. So I disabled the car panel auto launch. But the evo always thinks it is connected to a car dock. When I plug in a headset the volume is locked to a medium setting. If I use the rocker switch it has no effect on the volume even though the screen shows it going up and down. That is the main reason why I want this to be fixed so I can use headphones at the level I want. I did a full reset and when the phone restarts right into car dock. I flashed different roms and first thing car dock... This leads me to believe it is a hardware issue. There is another post but the info is limited and no solution was found. Also The hd2 had a similar problem but no real solutions were found. I would appreciate any input on how to solve or work around this... thank you
Possible work around: If bluetooth is turned on and uncheck the car dock box the volume control on the headset works

The best thing to try is to install an original Sprint EVO RUU. It should completely reset your phone to the correct settings. See if that helps. Make sure as always, you wipe everything before hand. This should let you know if it actually is something wrong with the hardware, i.e.; one of the pins on the phone connection is bent or somehow signaling to the phone that it should be in car mode.
Any word on if you got this fixed? My phone is doing the exact same thing even after a hard reset.
Sent from my Evo
If i have bluetooth turned on then everything works fine... its not a fix but it seems to work for me .... and my battery life doesnt seem that much worse either
I started having this problem when I bought a cheap ass usb cable, and I was.charging on my work pc. I got a new cable, and it stopped
Sent from the bowels of my mind....
BUMP BUMP! Wake up thread! I'm having the problem too!
My rooted EVO 4G running baked snack 1.8 is having the following issues, and they seem related as they started happening at the same time:
Cannot change headset volume (when volume rocker is pressed, graphical slider moves, but audio stuck at a low-to-medium level)
Car Mode launches sporadically without reason, even when phone is locked (had to turn off "auto launch" to stop it from popping up...it's as if the phone thinks it's being plugged into a car dock, which I don't own)
When sending/receiving a call, the external speaker turns on, I have to shut it off each time I answer a call (SO DAMN ANNOYING):
SOME MORE INFO:
This all started happening at once while I was walking down the road listening to music on my phone (i.e., no software was downloaded/changed)
I have done a nand restore to a previous point where there were no problems and the issue persists
It's not because of baked snack. This happened to me once before when I was running the stock ROM, but one day it just suddenly fixed itself. But it's been weeks and I'm tired of it.
ANY IDEAS??

Im pretty sure it was the charger i was using just like the other post said. I got a dock charger and after a week or so the problem just stopped. Im not sure if something is getting bent or shorted or what. Try turning on bluetooth for a work around until the charger straitens things out
No headphone volume/InCar App starts...solved
Have owned the HTC EVO 4G about 18 months with no problems. These issues just started happening yesterday out of the blue.
What didn't work:
cleaned charging port w/toothbrush
toggled bluetooth settings (don't use bluetooth)
Restart
HTC update
PRL update
What did work:
Uninstalling Vlingo
-Peace Out
Hi guys
I got an HTC M8s less than 2 months now and it has so many issues it's driving me insane at this stage....
It's on stock ROM unrooted with all the latest updates.
First issue that came up was not recognising the headphones after i plugged them in, that eventually went away after lots of searching and fiddling with settings etc.
Then it started going into Car mode while it was resting on the table, no input on my end no triggers set for it, hell i don't even own a car to use this function....
I disabled HTC car and that stopped.
The included micro usb cable somehow went bad, tried it on other devices, it will not charge....
Now i'm having some weird charging behaviour, it drops out of charging and resumes or sometimes it just stops charging (that doesn't happen when the phone is charging while being switched off, so i'm guessing it's not a hardware issue)
Another massive problem is that all incoming/outgoing calls go to the speaker which almost burst my ear drum first time that happened.
I have looked in every single forum out there and have tried all possible solutions, ranging from disabling google Chrome to trying every available speaker management/toggle related program on the play store but nothing seems to be working.
Some times if i plug in the headphones, make a call and then unplug them, then it works as it should for a little while. But later on it reverts to the previous mentioned behaviour.
One thing i have noticed, before it routes calls to the speaker, the screen will light up, no notifications come up and then all calls go to the speaker.
I used Wakelock to try and find out which program triggers the screen wake in order to remove it and maybe solve this issue but nothing came up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as i am at the end of my rope with this device....
I still have my HTC DHD A9191 and i never had any issues with that phone, i'm very dissappointed with HTC :/
Thanks in advance
Yanni
Less then 2 months......return it ! Not even sure what you want to achieve here besides messing up warranty ?
I am using Spign slim armor case on m8s and after using it my power button isn't working.
and I have a Motion Launch problem when phone is on my pocket it opens camera, calls someone because of the sensor.Any fix about that?

ok man
look i have htc one m8 + one m7+one max
the one m7 had the same problem of u
i will give to you one solution for try
i try it on the one m7 and its work
but on one max not work
on m8 not test yet
try this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging.
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal
if it not charge at the first time then try it again andd u will be OK
Hi Hazem
Thanks for the input, i'll give this a go when i get back home and let you know if it works out.
Should i try this when the phone is at 4-5% ? And then let it charge all the way ?
I'm experiencing these same issues as well after rooting my M8. Hopefully someone here knows what the issue is.
Well for me all issues remain unresolved.
My guess so far for the culprit seems to be the magnetic sensor, either badly programmed or a factory defect.

u must charge ur phone
turn off the phone
let him charge to full about 3 hours
and try the method
it will work
i test it on 2 one m7 phones
let me know if that work
thx
Sorry Hazeem I understand that English isn't your first language, and you are trying to help but you are not making much sence....
You are basically telling me to charge my phone, then switch it off and charge it again even though it's already charged for another 3 hours....
Ok an update !
HTC Released a service pack along with an update for the car application, after installing these and a couple of reboots the charging problems stopped and the phone doesn't seem to be waking up without any reason, as it did before.
The calls getting routed to the speaker still remain but thanks to an app called Auto Speaker, I've managed to work around this issue. Before the updates this application had no effect, but now it works as it should by turning off the speaker when the proximity sensor is blocked.
I hope I am not celebrating too soon on this and I'll keep this post updated if anything else, related to these issues, happens.
Update 2
So far so good and with another unexpected benefit, I removed my phone from the charger Saturday morning around 11 and as of now Monday 7:30 it's at 27% !
So today I tried to use the 3.5mm to USB-C adapter to use wired headphones on my phone. It's been over a month since I've used the adapter and it was working fine. Today it's not working.
The strangest part is if I plug it in one way nothing happens at all. However, if I unplug it and flip it around the phone does detect it but instead of playing music it behaves as if I plugged it into my computer and I get the "Android System - USB supplying power to attached device" where I can tap and select between "Charge this device", "Supply power", "Transfer files", "Transfer photos (PTP)" and "Use device as MIDI".
Has anyone ever had this issue? Phone hardware issue? Adapter issue? Software issue?
I started having this issues while a go and it escalated fast, now everytime I plug my phone to any source of power it turns off
It could be the adapter as well but there is a small group of people having the same issue as me
Same issue here, I have to unplug and plug again my adapter for it to work. It has been several times that I accidently started playing music loudly on the bus.

Well, I haven't had that issue......yet. I contacted Google support. They are sending out a new adapter. Not sure if that's the issue but it's the easiest place to start. Otherwise it's a phone hardware issue or a software bug.

Do you just have to unplug and plug in one to get it to work? Do you ever see the power/file transfer menu? That's all I get and only if I plug it in one way. When the connector flipped over I don't even get that menu.

I am on my third device because of this issue.
https://productforums.google.com/fo...!msg/phone-by-google/-p-F-7Rgtak/zUay6YIZBgAJ
Massive thread about it, Google doesn't have a fix for it yet.
Restarting the phone/unplugging & replugging the adapter usually sorts it out for a little bit, Sometimes it won't stop doing it, Completely random!

It's so strange. It worked for me every time with no issue at all for like 6 months. Only recently did it start having a problem.
Since you are on your 3rd device with the same issue that makes me think it is a software bug not a hardware issue. Otherwise replacing it should fix the problem.
I think the last time I remember it working was late April or early May (hadn't even tried the adapter since then until about a week ago). So maybe a bug in either the May or June update?
I'm having the same issue here. It worked up to within the last month; I didn't notice exactly when it stopped as I'd been using bluetooth headphones more often. Left them at home one day and pulled out the backup USB-C cable for my QC-25 headphones and the phone indicated it was charging the headphones.
Some folks at the other thread said the Android 9 beta resolved the issue, but I updated to the 9 release a couple days ago and I still get the issue. FWIW

Seems to be resolved for me on Android 9...so far.
My aux dongle isn't the problem for me, I've gotten a replacement and it's still didn't work.
I've started facing the same issue from yesterday, is there any solution to this?
