[Q] Getting Flixster Movies running on a rooted Galaxy Nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I rooted my Galaxy Nexus and all was well till i tried to watch one of my ultraviolet digital movies. The Movies app by Flixster will not allow me to stream to my phone because the phone is rooted.
There is an app called OTA Rootkeeper but currently is not working for the Galaxy Nexus. This app would allow the user to temporarily "un-root" their phone and then "re-root" their phone through the use of the app.
Does anyone have a solution to temporarily un-root their phone and then re-root?

Good news the app OTA Rootkeeper has been updated and now works with the galaxy nexus.
After you select the protect root option another option will appear called "temporary UN-root" which will take away root access until you restore it via the app.
Ultraviolet movies can be watched by this means.

For some reason, this process stopped working for me when my flixster app automatically updated a few days ago. I also noticed the option to download your movies was gone. Any new solutions for this?

[Q] Flixster knows i'm rooted?

Does anyone know a work-around for drm protection from Flixster and/or Ultraviolet for streaming? Installed update for Flixster and it said...sorry looks like your phone is rooted.
Thanks ...

Got the same message on my Evo4G - not sure what this has to do with anything. It won't even let me download the content I own regardless of streaming.
I sure as hell ain't gonna unroot just to watch a crappy copy of a movie on my phone. I'm wondering if jailbroken iPod/iPhone users get this same message.

Search xda or Google there was a workaround for it a while back but I use netflix so i haven't kept up with it netflix gives 2 ****s if ur rooted or not and I get it free for the next 18 months
Edit: iirc it was to backup Su in tb and freeze or delete then restore after u use flixster but don't quote me on that as I never used it just read the thread a few times

Install and use OTA Root Keeper. It unroots and reroots your device with just one click. Temporarily unroot your device while you're streaming from Flixster and reroot when you're you're done streaming...

[Q] NFL Mobile No Longer in the Android Market?

Not sure if this belongs in Q&A or Themes and Apps but I'm asking a question so here goes...
I had to restore my device last night back to stock, I forgot this would wipe my data, it's been a while. So when I went to reinstall my apps I could no longer find Verizon NFL Mobile in the Market, other Verizon apps show and install fine. So I went to the android market from my PC and tried to push the app to my device but was told my device isn't compatible and was grayed out???
Another strange thing is that it was listed as already installed on my market account from the web browser?? I was eventually able to install it using the Google Wallet trick.
Has it been pulled from the Android Market or is my account screwed up?
Thanks in advance.
noticed this as well, i wiped data to update to another ROM and it was not in Market, had to restore via TiBu
Weird. I have the app, when i try to use it there is a screen to download an update, i select download and it says it's not compatible with my device. WTF!!
There are alot of complaints from nexus owners on their review thread. It will probably get worked out soon.
Sigh, thanks guys. I thought I screwed something up with my restore or market account. I know the season is over but they need to work this crap out.

Play music not working on rooted Nexus?

I just rooted my friends Verizon Nexus a few weeks ago.
She said that her Play music app doesn't work.
It shows the library but when a track is selected it doesn't work.
Uninstalled app and re installed but the problem persists.
She gave Google a call and they told her it's because she's rooted.
She on stock 4.0.2 I believe.
Also her Spotify has a similar problem.
Anyone else experience this?
I've been on a rooted GSM nexus since march. I use the play music app everyday. Check if the music is available online or whatever it's called. Idk why but when I switched from my sgs2 to he nexus, my music was all greyed out, but in menu/settings, I just had to change the setting.

Google play video rentals won't work on a rooted phone (for the most part). Music should work just fine.
How did you root your friends phone?
Google music works fine for me rooted. Something must glitched on her phone. Root certainly doesn't matter.
She needs to go to the play music site and remove some of the devices she syncs to.
I haz no sig
Thanks for the suggestions.
Will report back.
I do have a way around the movie rentals.
Went to the Play Music site and de authorized 2 old nexus profiles.
Finally flashed a custom rom onto the phone (CM9 RC1)
Logged into Play Music onto the fresh rom and still a no go.
Library loaded up but songs do not play.
Just shows the little spinning circle for like a second
Her Play Music account works on her unrooted Transformer Prime.
Am I missing something?
She's on a Verizon Galaxy Nexus btw.

Google knows my location, play apps are broken... HELP!!

Hi all,
Somehow my google wallet app on my nexus 7 stopped booting and instead gave me a compatibility app error. I activated my tab using VPN to receive 25 dollar credit and this caused that all US-Only apps appeared permanently on my app drawer. They were never frozen unlike on my GNex, which wasn't activated via VPN. Therefore I was able to boot all the US-only play apps without using VPN, I even setup Google Wallet via my local WiFi. But now nothing works. Even when connected via US VPN and marketenabler set to US Google Apps keep denying. The apps did not auto-update afaik. I updated my rom yesterday but Google Wallet still worked this afternoon. On my Gnex wallet also works, although I have to unfreeze it first and then use the VPN/Enabler method. Anyone a solution for this? I'm running ParanoidAndroid. Maybe it has something to do with the UI settings?

Installed fine on my.. I did get an unknown sources error because it seems iheartradio comes with iheartradio for the gear smartwatch and I guess it tries to sideload that maybe... otherwise, it installs fine.
Thanks for the feedback. I wonder what's so unique about my setup. I do have the Samsung gear neo 2. So maybe there's something conflicting going on. Android wear vs tizen.

Yea, I have a Gear 1. I think it's trying to sideload the Gear app, but Android isnt letting it.
I went back and checked "unknown sources" and reinstalled it, now I have an iheart radio app on my watch..
I Am Having the Same Problem
Verizon Galaxy Note 4 with Samsung Gears app installed for Gear S watch. IHeartRadio fails to install after getting an error associated with the Samsung Gear app. I have changed security settings to allow unknown sources both in the Samsung Gear app and the general settings on the phone. No luck. Still fails.
I wrote to IHeartRadio technical support over the weekend and received this prompt reply:
I apologize for the difficulty you are experiencing with iHeartRadio. There is currently a known issue with iHeartRadio disappearing or failing to install when connected to a Samsung Gear device. We are working to resolve this issue.
However, you can still enjoy iHeartRadio with your Samsung Gear not connected to your mobile device! I know that this is not the most optimal solution, but we appreciate your patience while we work on resolving this.
So let's keep an eye out for an update to IHeartRadio.
I have the iheartradio app installed from the play store without any issues. Installed fine and works fine.
Not sure whats up with yours.
Good luck

Do you have the Samsung Gear app running on your phone and a Samsung Gear S watch connected via bluetooth? If not, your situation is irrelevant to this issue.
Im getting the same issue, and it started aftet connecting my gear 2 neo. Very strange and i hope they fix this soon.

Possible Solution
A poster on another board came up with a solution which I do no take credit for, but share here for the benefit of all.
After the Gear S software "uninstalls" IHeartRadio, leave the Gear S watch connected. Then go into the Samsung Gear S manager on the phone, select "Settings" (scroll down to he bottom), then select "Security". Uncheck the option to allow applications to be installed from other sources. Back out of the menus and then go to the Play Store.
Install IHeartRadio from the Play Store. When you receive the dialog that IHeartRadio will NOT be installed on the Gear S, select "CANCEL". Do not select "OK".
The install of IHeartRadio should complete without attempting to side load on the Gear S. Just leave the "install from other sources" option off until you need it.
I have encountered a similar problem with TripIt being uninstalled by the Gear S manager. Here, the solution is to simply install the TripIt app from the Galaxy Gear store (preloaded on the phone) instead of the Play Store. This version from Galaxy Gear appears to play nice with the Samsung Gear S manager.
Good luck!!
As was posted earlier this is a known issue which we're working with Samsung to resolve. Our next release should address this issue but there is a workaround which you can try (same as was posted above) if you'd prefer not to wait (with the caveat that we're not responsible for any issues that might arise from this workaround).
Pair your mobile to your Samsung Galaxy Gear or Gear 2
In the Samsung Gear app on your phone, visit Settings > Security > Unknown Sources
Install iHeartRadio
When the unknown sources message is displayed, select CANCEL

ok tried that it still failed...it will install the app then clean master says its safe to open then you get a message from gear manager that says failed to install the app.
now i tried to side load the app still failed if its recent but if you install from amazon app store it works fine but no gear application.
if you turn bluetooth off and install iheart from the play store it will work just fine even play music but soon as the neo connects
the iheart app fails to install to the gear watch and then removes the app again.
i even tried to go to the samsung app store to get iheart but its not in that store at all.

From what I've seen this happens on some devices, you can always try installing from the Amazon App Store (it's an earlier build of iHeartRadio for Android).
We have fixed this in our latest build, I just don't have a date yet for when we'll be publishing it to the Google Play Store. It'll be soon though!
rp is not good, Mine is fine
