Hi all,
Somehow my google wallet app on my nexus 7 stopped booting and instead gave me a compatibility app error. I activated my tab using VPN to receive 25 dollar credit and this caused that all US-Only apps appeared permanently on my app drawer. They were never frozen unlike on my GNex, which wasn't activated via VPN. Therefore I was able to boot all the US-only play apps without using VPN, I even setup Google Wallet via my local WiFi. But now nothing works. Even when connected via US VPN and marketenabler set to US Google Apps keep denying. The apps did not auto-update afaik. I updated my rom yesterday but Google Wallet still worked this afternoon. On my Gnex wallet also works, although I have to unfreeze it first and then use the VPN/Enabler method. Anyone a solution for this? I'm running ParanoidAndroid. Maybe it has something to do with the UI settings?
Bump

Not sure if this belongs in Q&A or Themes and Apps but I'm asking a question so here goes...
I had to restore my device last night back to stock, I forgot this would wipe my data, it's been a while. So when I went to reinstall my apps I could no longer find Verizon NFL Mobile in the Market, other Verizon apps show and install fine. So I went to the android market from my PC and tried to push the app to my device but was told my device isn't compatible and was grayed out???
Another strange thing is that it was listed as already installed on my market account from the web browser?? I was eventually able to install it using the Google Wallet trick.
Has it been pulled from the Android Market or is my account screwed up?
Thanks in advance.
noticed this as well, i wiped data to update to another ROM and it was not in Market, had to restore via TiBu
Weird. I have the app, when i try to use it there is a screen to download an update, i select download and it says it's not compatible with my device. WTF!!
There are alot of complaints from nexus owners on their review thread. It will probably get worked out soon.
Sigh, thanks guys. I thought I screwed something up with my restore or market account. I know the season is over but they need to work this crap out.

Ok, So i'm running CM9 on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus and I have google wallet installed, I can open it, even got my free 10bucks when I setup my google prepaid card however I try and use it at paypass locations and can never get it to scan.
Any advice? NFC is turned on btw
I had this happen to me once also, but rebooting the phone fixed it.
i'm not sure if this is the right place to be asking this, but here goes.
so i had a modified version of Google Wallet installed on my rooted Galaxy Nexus. well, i then started to prep the phone to be sold, so i wiped the phone, and flashed a ROM. not realizing until after that i guess there's some weird authentication things with Google Wallet? or something?
well anyways, i didn't make a nandroid backup because my primary device is my (non-rooted) Galaxy S3.and so my Galaxy Nexus was more like a music and games player with a working Google Wallet.
i haven't tried this yet, but would i be able to install Google Wallet again on the phone, then unlink/reset it, and then wipe the phone?

google wallet is unique to the device b/c of the 'secure element'. If you didn't break the secure element, then a re-install of wallet should be fine.
You may have just encountered the secure element error where you didn't restore Google Wallet completely before you wiped your device. If that really is the case, you won't be able to use Google Wallet on it ever again unless somebody devises a fix for it.
I tried to install Google wallet to the phone on the same ROM and different ROMS.
I'm getting the your device isn't supported error now. I've tried 2 different APK files, and I can't download it from Play store.
Any suggestions?

Device isn't supported just means that you are rooted - doesn't effect functionality...
Correct unsupported device is normal, that means your phone is rooted and money market is not responsible for any loss of money because they feel that a rooted device is less secure. The secure element issue is when your device is broken and the wallet will never work again. At this point your perfectly fine and just like everyone else. If you flash stock and lock the bootloader your unsupported device message should go away.

the only thing that weirds me out though, is that i had Google Wallet working on it while rooted, but now it's not working.
before, when it was working, that dialog would come up, but then still let me use the app. now it's just auto closing after the alert dialog.
guess i shouldn't worry about it too much since i'm trying to sell it.

You can remove all devices, and as soon as the device opens the Google Wallet app, it blows itself up!
Just got a Note II from China.
Now I found out that the ones from China are crippled regarding everything from Google.
I installed the Play store 3.9.7 apk, however something is killing it.
It starts and 5 seconds later it is killed.
I got my S3 fully functional and copied everything from /system/apps/ with Google on the name (Google*apk).
After installing Google components I was able to login withing a Google account, install and use GMail and Youtube.
Contacts are synced fine with the account.
However Play Store still does not work.
I bet there is a background process watching and killing it.
Any suggestions?
I believe there are some host file entries blocking connectivity to google. You can try to remove these, or alternatively flash a non-Chinese ROM onto it.

nope
only localhost on /etc/hosts.
You misunderstood the question, anyways.
It is not a conection problem.
The google play app is killed after start.
my bet is that there is a watchdog looking for it in the background.
Just to make clear. I am not in China.
No firewall (outside the phone at least) problem.
Install the csc folder and the host file from a non chinise phone to get around it

Long time ago I used to use "Market Unlocker" to do so, that eventually stopped working. Then I used VPN Apps that used to work flawlessly until recently. I'm on takju 4.3 rooted with Play Store 4.2.3. Is there any successful method to do so?
My VPN still works for me.

Google seems to use a combination of factors to decide which store to show you both on device and on the Web, including IP and SIM card of all linked devices, billing addresses and others. I find it difficult and unpredictable - occasionally my account shifts to USA for a day or two and then back to Canada.
