I'm on Calk's 2.6 ROM and cant seem to fix this issue where in my e-mail the words are cut off mid way and carried on to the next line, any ideas how to fix this?
No issue with K-9 mail app, only with stock e-mail app, I prefer to use the stock app.
No custom kernel or theme, just the ROM

Can someone port the new Gmail app to make it installable on 2.1? (I'd love to have the ability to select text in Gmail).
P.S. Yes I tried extracting it from a 2.2 ROM and just install it but it won't install
I want it too
also +1
though i'm not sure this can be done easily
You can select text in the default HTC email app. Not the same, but I have used this method a number of time, actually better because it lets you select specific text as well as all text...
Maybe worth trying?
Hi,
I have updated my unrooted stock ROM to the new 2.2 stock Froyo this weekend (by using the normal system refresh).
I have done a factory reset after upgrading the operating system.
Everything works but the "People widget". If I click someone it asks for the default action. For example I select "call mobile". After the call the small mobile icon appears for the contact (indicating the default action), but if I select another contact and add a default action again, the default action for the first contact disappears... It asks again for default action when I click on the contact.
I have:
-Removed and re-added the people widget from the desktop
-Removed and re added the group (the people widget use)
-Created a new group and added people manually by using the "+" sign of people widget
...none of the above worked.
Please help me what to do.
Thank you for your help in advance,
Andrew
Do you have any idea why people widget acts like this?
Anyone? Any Idea? Suggestions?
Resolution
I was having the same issue, but I believe I was able to resolve it. When I logged into Gmail from my desktop pc, I noticed a contacts group called "Starred in Android". I added everyone who's listed in my widget to this group, and that seemed to do the trick. At that point I simply had to set the default action for each contact once, and now my phone remembers it
(BTW, I'm not sure this is Froyo-specific, as I seem to recall the same problem before I upgraded).

HTC Evo, Froyo build 3.26.651.6
The suggested "Starred in Android" fixed my problem.
Thank You for the Solution. It definitely was an annoying problem.
The awesome Sense text selection seems to work in some third party apps (such as Handcent SMS), so is there a way someone can get it working in the GMail app?
I know the method that Google has implemented is due to be changed in Gingerbread, but by all accounts it's still not as good/unified as HTC's Sense method.
No not possible unless someone reverse engineers it. Either flash a Sense ROM or wait for Gingerbread.
I am on a Sense rom - and the Sense text selection works in Handcent, a third party app.
I guess I don't understand why it can work there, but it can't do so in ALL third party apps, ie where I want it in GMail?
Is there any good app out there for sending my business card info, or just sending my contact info to someone rather than having to type it all out. I am on the go alot and I plug peoples numbers in and would love to be able to just shoot them over my selected contact info through like SMS. But doesn't seem to be anything out there to do that. I found one app, but only info it will send is Name - Number - Email. I want something that will send all the info in the contact info of my phone, including my website etc... The app I found which is very limited and I don't like is called "Share Contacts Via SMS"
Thanks
bump it up
I use Handcent for many features including this one. You can attach a contact as a vCard or plain text, and you get a checkbox next to each item to include (numbers, emails, addresses, photo). Can't believe this isn't in the stock app!
If you do this a lot and the problem is just re-typing it, you can create and save a template with this info. In the stock SMS app, go to Menu->Settings->Templates. The icon in the upper right will let you create and save a template. Then when you are in the conversation/new message screen, Menu->Insert Template, pick the one you made.
But I would also recommend checking out handcent. I don't use this feature but it's a great app that packs a lot of good stuff.

Click to collapse
This is in the stock Messaging app? If so, I don't see anything regarding templates.
Yeah, I don't see this template option in the stock messaging app. And I don't want to use handcent. Any other suggestions

Oh? I have a themed version of the stock app installed, though I stopped using it a while ago myself in favor of handcent. Perhaps the capability was added in by the person who themed it. I know his version of the dialer adds t9 dialing, but there's no note of added functionality on the mms link.
If you like or just don't mind the theme, the one I have is here.
I cant find an email app that works as good or better than teh stock email app for the t989.
Problem is I removed it and cant get it back.
Can somebody provide me with it?
Thanks
Also
Id like to get the calendar and calendar widget that comes with this rom
Thanks
