Only problem is that is not MIUI, it's CM7 with MIUI flavoring, a.k.a. "CIUI". I haven't run it, but from what I can tell it is not the same. Which would make sense since duplicating a closed source ROM that is as intricate as the real MIUI would be extremely difficult. But at least CIUI will look nice. Unfortunately CIUI will not mean a thing for MIUI. So if someone ports CIUI to the E4GT, then you'll have the look alike with WiMax 4G, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for any WiMax love on the real MIUI.
Its says on the op its cm with miui theme

What do you like about it? Are most of the bugs fixed such as will it run smooth with hardware 0004? Is it secure I know it has a wallpaper hub for downloading things wondering if it is virus spam spyware free?
I have used it in the past didn't like the bugs. I liked a lot of the features tho was wondering how secure and stable the latest build is.
Reminds me of CM with a twist.
I like MIUI a lot. I got bored of CM7 but didn't want to go to Sense, so I tried it out. My first flash was fairly buggy, so I went back and wiped multiple times & flashed again. Everything has been running smoothly since, no bugs. I feel it's secure. I only use the Theme Manager for certain elements, the rest of the theme I provide myself. You can also get themes from the miui-dev forums or at miui.us. The UI is constantly changing with each release, making theming a pain in the butt. Try it out and I think you'll like it. When CM7 stable came out, I said I was going to switch back. Still haven't.
I really want to try miui, I've heard alot of great things about it. But the lack of 4g kills me If and when it is ever apart of that rom I will be trying it out for sure.

I have 4g in my area but rarely use it, so it doesn't bother me. The Chinese don't have wimax, so they don't have a reason to add it. Unfortunately this leaves us without it as well. I've heard that the devs on our end have asked the Chinese if they could work on it independently. If the rom was open sourced I'm sure it would have already been implemented.
If it ever does get 4g, it will definitely be more widely used.

Did they fix the cam issue for 0004 hardware yet. Wondering if its secure I love the features wish the menu layout had more to it lol evo has loads of potential.

Lol ya nice fire wall and call blocker fast Rom I checked up on it 4g be nice to try haven't used it yet TN is slow rolling .
MIUI is the best AOSP ROM to me... I tried CM7 but the battery life was horrible for me, with MIUI out the box the battery life is great, now when I undervolt and use SetCPU I can get over a day on one charge.
so i thought i would give this a shot but i was thinking maybe we can create a thread with a bounty to port 4g on miui i am wondering if maybe this will get things moving a little quicker cause i am loving the miui best rom i have found however it is missing (imo) the most important feature 4G maybe this will move things along tell me what you think
Eh, I'll bite.
When you get the source code from the Chinese who code MIUI, let us know.

I was gonna say, but Github you got ahead. MIUI is closed source, not like CM for example that is open so until they can open that code for us to tinker, there is no 4g.
do you think that there will ever be 4g or we are just sol on 4g period

If you can somehow convince the Chinese to release the source, which I highly doubt they ever will your pretty much SOL.

I've had 4G on MIUI for years now.
To be honest, it's never going to happen and I doubt anybody is even bother trying to get 4g to work on miui
I'm assuming that MIUI will NEVER have 4G. There is no reason for the Chinese to work on it and we can't get the source code.
If it happens on MIUI, that would be a nice surprise, but don't expect 4G
Bounty would be a waste of time..

Yeah, it's been claimed to be worked on for some time now.
Eventually it will have to be on MIUI as all the networks are moving to a 4g platform.

Or no more MIUI ports. It'll stay in China. I doubt that they care about users in the US. Most of the donations go to the devs doing the porting/translation, not the Chinese developers working on the original. It would be nice if they'd release the source, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

That's great to hear Deano. I've heard in some places this phone has been hard to come by, so like you said...matter of time.
just a matter of time until the phone is readily available to all. there should be a donation thread to get a good dev a phone.
Anyone know if CM is working on an E4GT port?

I know Bubby was talking to someone in the Marketplace about getting one. They don't seem willing to make a deal with what he is offering though...which is totally understandable, I'm just stating this due to its seeming relevance.
Only problem with asop you will probably lose your samsung camera video codecs and other usefully programs/tools that Samsung have tied into the their framework. But atleast you can always revert back.
Once CM hits, MIUI will be able to start their port. MIUI is based off CyanogenMod.
cannnnnnnt wait for CM on this beast, even though stock is pretty darn impressive

Not necessarily. The galaxy s 4g doesn't have cm7, but they have miui running on stock kernel. Also, making an aosp kernel shouldn't be as hard as it is in devices that ship with froyo and the kernel can be based off of the galaxy s2.

So now that CM7 is official and nearing from my opinion a completion and MIUI is being worked on and becoming more stable I was just curious on what others had to say about a Sense Rom. I know it's been talked about before and ports have been released on here but they never seemed to kept being worked on. So is their any chance a Sense Rom(even sense 2.0 or 2.1)would be considered as a next project to try and run on this Phone or is it something that simply cannot be achieved?
Just curious don't flame me lol
I would love to see sense but others would rather see everything work on aosp roms first

Yeah me too I mean i thought MIUI was never going to be ported let alone ever stable but with its newest release today it fixed the big issues...along with CM7 i.e. Wimax. I came to sprint in May and this Epic 4g is my first phone with them(bought it cause it had a big enough screen and a keyboard) and prior to that on T-Mobile with the HD2,MYtouch 4g and 3g slide...I've always had HTC but took the risk of switching thinking that this phone would easily have a sense rom..huh I really hope someday it would be successfully ported on this awesome phone
There was some sense development going on awhile ago by Xboxfanj. I think he's still working on it, but his time might have been occupied by getting MIUI stable enough to be a RC.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
well now that miui is RC and stable (enough)..hopefully him and other dev's will look into seeing if sense can be worked at. I know CM9 might be next after CM7 is finished but hopefully besides that this will be under consideration..It would be awesome if it worked
Ok I'm gonna start working on this again. Wish me luck.

OK so I have had my evo for about two years now and when I first got it I rooted it. then a while later ics came out and so did ics roms for the evo. but every time a rom would be stable enough for daily use there would be no more updates for it. even though there would still be bugs with it and it continues to be like that. so i mean whats up with that. would it be that its just not worth it to work on it or the devs don't have time? I just want to know out of curiosity.

From what I've read, I don't think the evo hardware can handle many of the features that came with the phone. I'm assuming that is what you are talking about though (4g, ffc, etc).
The problem is, HTC no longer supports the OG EVO. The source for drivers for things like 4G and the FFC were never officially released, so this is why those items in ICS and JB ROM's don't work. If you want a fully-functional ROM, stick with a Gingerbread ROM. Everything works-period.
Sent using my HTC EVO 4G and a magic wand
I also see this a lot too. I wish I knew how to develop so I could make a driver that works for the front facing camera. That is the only thing holding me back from ics and i want it so bad. I think what happens is the dev gets a new phone and wants to work on the newer one, which there is nothing wrong with.

Yeah I want to know how to develop also. I've been working on learning coding and what not. Like the basic stuff haha
The ffc needs a proprietary driver. The one that works on GB can't even be modified to work on ICS(easily) it needs to be about 90% rewritten to function. Writing one from scratch would almost be easier and its not easy and extremely time consuming without a team of devs experienced in coding camera drivers.
We are legion, for we are many.

Unless you can make a compelling argument with Htc and convince them to release source code lol (hypothetically) Another solution would be to buy an Evo 3d. They have fully functional 3.6 sense roms with everything working.

Exactly, that's why sense 4.0 roms on the Evo 3d dont having working 4g or 3d because htc abandoned the evo 3d and are focused on the evo 4g lte. You can get an evo 3d a lot cheaper than a 4g lte. It is a damn shame I know, believe me.
So as far as the og evo 4g goes the most up to date rom that can be used is gingerbread?

Is there any current development on the FFC or 4g drivers? Where would one start to learn about why goes into creating these drivers? Has anyone taken the time to contact HTC reguatding the matter? Are there alternative drivers that could be used?

Up-to-date, no. That would be Jelly Bean. Fully functional, on the other hand, yes, that would be Gingerbread.
