... I dropped my phone outside and now my sliding screen is loose when it is in the closed position. When it is slid out and I am on the keyboard, I can't tell but when it is slid closed, there is obvious movement.
Is there a tutorial on how to re-tighten the sliding portion or how to take the phone apart properly? It is probably a loose screw like my old PPC-6800 used to do and I would hate to Odin back to stock in order to take it in and have Sprint look at it if I can just fix it myself.
Thanks in advance!

After viewing all the steps I have to take to take apart my phone to tighten the slider, it may be easier to just Odin back to stock and have Sprint spend their time doing it right!

Dropped mine the other day and its loose too everytime I tap on something in the bottom left corner you can hear the top half tap the bottom half like its raised or loose.
Also shaking the phone the top half will rattle or move like its loose

You could try to buy a new slider chassis:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SLIDER-CHAS...ltDomain_0&hash=item3cc1cb125a#ht_2072wt_1396
I pulled a little to hard while removing a case from my epic and I can tell the screen is a little to loose. I plan on replacing this part myself once it finally gets in (shipping is from china ) Hope that fixes the problem for me. Might be worth giving it a try for $7 bucks.

Hopefully this isn't against the forum rules.
I'm looking for someone, I bought a T-Mobile Galaxy S2 from you off Craigslist yesterday. We were supposed to meet up today so I could pick up the box and accessories but I realized now that you don't have a phone anymore, I don't know how to reach you. You gave me your XDA username in case I needed to reach you but I'm an idiot and forgot it.
If you see this, could you PM me so I could get the box, the case piece, the receipt, charger, and extra battery from you?
Thanks
LOL and good luck.
If he sold you the phone I doubt he's in these forums any more.

Lol, well, I paid him already.
But I do already have the phone, and the case, and the extra screen protector.
The box/receipt/extra part for the case/USB charger/extra battery seems like a weird thing to rip someone off over.
Heh, maybe I'll wait until tomorrow before I go nuts. From his XDA user name I found his Twitter and Google Plus accounts and contacted him on all of them. He's pretty active on XDA.
On the downside, he did mention when I met him yesterday he was leaving the country on Saturday....
On the other downside, he did mention on his Twitter dropping his phone and it slipping under the wheel of a car right before I bought it from him....

Even though he sold you his phone, didn't he keep his sim card? his number should be unchanged...... unless he just totally went off the radar and decided he didn't need a cell phone anymore or switched providers without porting the number.
Ok I know some of you are probably wondering what type of question is this lol.. Last night I had a few drinks and dropped my phone, now I have a cracked screen at the bottom right of the phone. Called my friend (works at sprint) he said he can't swap it out just because of the screen but told me if I brick it he can swap it out, all I have to do is blame the new ota update when I come in so his manager gives the approval. So what's the fastest way to get a BLOD? Would removing the wire while running a sfhub OC do it?? I just can't live with a cracked screen ima go crazy!!!

"Hook up" at sprint is not equal to the "right" thing to do... I don't think he was jealous as much as he was pointing out what you are attempting to do could be considered/is fraud... I'm not passing judgment on you but perhaps if you're accident prone you may want to consider adding insurance to the line, which is the route many of us around here take... additionally no one is forcing you to live with a broken screen, replacements can be found on eBay for reasonable prices and to change it it's just 9 Phillips head screws and 3 cables to unplug/ replug... not super hard to do... lastly I hope I didn't accidentally mispell anything in this reply as I wouldn't want to feel the wrath of the grammer nazi fraudster...

Yes, I'm jealous because you lack the intelligence to figure out something so trivial, I'm also jealous because "YOUS" to broke to pay to have a screen fixed. Also....I'm jealous that you have a friend that works for sprint, actually extremely jealous. I only have a brother and two close friends that work for sprint.
How does one go about getting only one friend that works for sprint and then begin to radiate this sprint branded swag that clearly creates uncontrollable amounts of jealousy because of said friend?

"YOUR" absolutely right. Myself and others don't mind the cost of insurance going up because of false claims.
That's the problem with this world instead of holding people accountable for their actions, their stupidity is excused with acts such as these (eg. Ins cost goes up). Same concept as welfare. How many of us are ecstatic that our stolen tax dollars go to funding that?

I'll just keep my fingers crossed that he has rooted and flashed a ROM, so when he does brick and thinks he's pulling a fast one they see the binary and tell him to go orally stimulate a goat.

I called today and made an appointment to see a sprint technician I go in and the manager stops me at the door and says can I help you with anything now any rooting veteran kn rows when u go into a repair center to play dumb so I said hum I have an appointment and he's like okay well come here and I'll look at the phone. That right there got me worried because and untrained cashier jockey was about to take a look at my phones sub port. The first mistake he made as I watched him carefully was he jammed his fingernail in the sub port and pryed the back cover off backwards and forcefully and almost throws my phone across the room. I wanted to say something but I did not want to spark him as he seemed to have attitude as it is. Well he outs a sub cable in ( first upsidedown) and he closely compares mine to the store cable I guess he doesn't know what micro sub looks like. And he says it charges just fine and decides to finally bring it to a technician and they ran a detailed test on my sub cable and determined it was frayed on the inside so I said to myself no buggy I then decided to ask if he cud do something about this crack in the screen bezel just about the volume rocker. And he employees and talks to me as if I'm 5 years old. The worst part is because he wasn't a technician I never got the survey call from sprint to rate his poor performance
Edit pleasebignor the subs* I opined back time stock today and you all know how shifty Samsung's spell check is

I have a good relationship with the tech supervisor at the local repair center. The thing that kicked it off was when I brought my OG Epic in back when I was trying to get MIUI on it (before MIUI was release for it), he thought it was pretty cool that I was tweaking the phone like that and asked me if I could do anything with his Evo......free service/repairs ever since, no questions asked.

Physical damage can only be fixed by insurance claim. Will set your friend back 130 bucks. Now, the bigger issue is why would your friends mom stab a phone? Was he protecting himself with the phone from getting stabbed!?

Look up t989 teardown. It looks like that is not the WiFi module, but the signal lead. Seems like its part of the mother board I believe. None the less, if it's just a copper lead it should be repairable. Being exposed may be causing some shorting out leading to the damage and bad connection. Repairing may not make it perfect though.
I was trying to find a tear down video, but couldn't find one. What component would I have to change?

a link to that component anyone, thanks a lot though
I know there's a lot of talk going on here about the EMMC bug and I'd seen an app somewhere at XDA for Chainfire's GotBrickBug App. Found it and ran it but i'm not sure if my replacement board is different from my bricked return but it's not in Chains database of EMMC chips that are suspect. Can anyone decipher this?
Chainfires thread with app - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27014974
I'll edit this post with the screenshot I took after running the app.

Here is what I found from the Brick thread which is stickied in our forums.

My new Epic 4G Touch that I just received from Samsung has a MAG2GA eMMC chip revision 0xE.
From what it looks like this was a brand new E4GT. If there is anything else I can help with just let me know.

So up to now we have 2 eMMC chip versions not on the patch list:
VIS00M found on GT-I9100 (int'l)
MAG2GA found on E4GT, GT-P6800
Maybe someone with a new N7000 can state its chip version too ... cheers.

So does that mean the MAG2GA is the newest eMMC chip?

Bump.
And MAG2GA appears to have the newer f/w revision that avoids the bug from what I've heard.

Beautiful, I hope..
Thank You....
Maybe Samsung is putting new boards in later phones of the same model? My guess by this information is that they possibly knew about the issue pretty early in production because they wouldn't have just replaced chips midstream. I'm still gonna be a tad leary of doing too many wipes because Yes i did try more than 5 different roms so I'm pretty sure it was all the wipes. Funny that it bricked in the middle of just taking pictures.
Thank You....
I have the same results on my phone.

Where is Radnor?
Where is Radnor, Ohio near? Wish I had those WiMax speeds here. I work in Canton and I hit 1 spot near Massillon for about a whole 5 seconds on the way to work. Spotty 3G at most and of course working in a steel mill pretty much scatters everything Sprint has. These guys on Verizon get LTE everywhere but I'm not gonna pay twice as much as I do now for LTE.
Sorry, just noticed Radnor is the server you connected to....

Is that a fairly new phone or a refurb replacement?

Central Ohio. 40 miles north of Columbus.
Uh that's near where I live in Loudonville (Mohican State Park). Be nice if you could pump some of that here. Yes, I drive 50 miles East to work 6 days a week to Canton and takes me an hour from here so maybe they could put a tower between here and Canton also.

Just got it replaced two month ago. But they took it out of the box so it's a new phone

Looks like there may be a modification from Samsung. Mine looks to be a refurb more than likely with a new motherboard. I'd bet Samsung has fixed the issue on new and motherboard refurbs. Just got it a little over a week ago after a week and a half of being backordered. Wish I would have seen what my last chip version was before it bricked.

AFAIK the new chips have had this issue put to bed.
Those still with the ones marked known - MAG4FA, for example - are still susceptible.
Hopefully though these will be put to bed with JB.
(JB sources, including the i9100 - have so far seemed to contain the official patch.)
So do you think the MAG2GA 0xE may be safe? I'd be willing to test this chip format and I'll make sure to post that in the General section. I did however, just last night flash Snipers PacMan after I made a backup of my Lightweight v0.5, did a little configuring and did a backup again with PAC. Now I'm back on my Lightweight by restoring from CWM. Couple more times of doing that may brick me with all the wipes. We'll see!!

Considering the issue was known and fixed in the GNex - and that this is not in the official patch list - I have always considered the new eMMCs as not susceptible to the bug. That's not to say that good practices should still not be in order... but for most people the problem was proactively addressed by the community and should not be an issue.
