Wifi not finding networks after Cy4noobsMod - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Today I installed the Cy4noobsMod and I used the wifi for an extended period. I turned it on and off to test the power control widget and after that it wouldn't find any networks. I tried adding the network manually but it would just turn off the wifi.I tried rebooting it but that didn't work.
Anyone had this problem before or know how to fix it ?

Maybe you used titanium backup?

Yes I used titanium backup. Why would that be a problem ?

I don't know I couldn't repair it so I just reinstalled the rom and now everything is working fine

.
I've had the same problem, I finded out the original cyanogenmod, wich the cy4noobsmod is based on, is much more smooth and stable, so Im not using this one any more, and don't know how to fix it, just flash the original cyanogenmod 7.1 ported by phiex

i have question. I had created nandroid back up. Soon. I will change the rom. If i dont like the rom. I will restore the backup. Is there any problem restoring you're back-up? Should the data of apps installed in sd card must be on sd card? Is my setting will stay the same? Is the arrangement of the home will be the same? .Thanks

Restoring your Nandroid backup brings your phone to the exact state your phone was when the backup was taken. So everything WILL be the same.
Oooh . Like time machine?

what about kernel, firmware and root?
after restoring nandroid backup will we get old firmware, kernel and unroot?
that's one of my questions too
how about i created a nandroid back up. and formatted my sd card. then i only move the nandroid backup. should the apps will work properly without their data on sd card?
Yes, you will get back to your old firmware and kernel and root.
And its exactly like the time machine. It'l take your phone back to the state it was when you made the backup. If it was rooted, it will be rooted; if it wasn't, it wont be rooted. -_-
And yes, the Nandroid backup includes your app data so even if you format your SD card, you'l get back your app data from the backup.
That's the answer that i want. THANK YOU!

[TUT] How to easily restore data when changing roms.

Hey fellas.
I don't know if this is wrong section or not, but i have something to share.
Are you a sort of person who changes ROMS alot and finds it buggy to keep restoring data and installing the apps again.
This Thread Is going to guide you how you can easily restore your apps and data easily.
Note: Only tested on Gingerbread.
Note: I have only tested this on the same CM7 versions, like Restoring between Apocalypse and Miracle V4, and Official CMs. This might not work for other ROMS which are not Cyanogen Mod like Adrenaline Rom, Stocklite, Lewa, Joy Os and many others.
This is not any sort of personal mod but is something included withing our Ace.
For this to work you ofcourse need to be rooted and have Clockwork Mod Recovery.
Guide:
TO BACKUP DATA AND APPS.
1. First, On your ROM. Install all the apps that you need on other ROMS, and all the data you need on your current ROM
2. Reboot into recovery.
3. Glide to Backup And Restore.
4. Make a Backup.
Now when you install another ROM, you ofcourse need to wipe data and cache and stuff.
Guide:
TO RESTORE ONLY DATA AND APPS.
1. On your new rom, Reboot into Recovery.
2. Glide to Backup and Restore.
3. Select Advanced Restore
4. Select the date of the backup you made above.
5. Restore data.
6. Reboot.
You'll see that all your apps of the previous rom are now working with the new rom without wasting lots of time in installing.
If you end up in bootloops, or hangs try restoring cache too.
And If your device is not booting and is stuck at splash screen. Try adb reboot recovery or pull out battery, boot into recovery and to full restore.

tested with a lewa backup restoring to a fresh lewa install. bootloop.
same with cm7 - lewa and cm7 to cm7 :/
I use titanium, but for post rom flash i use gobackup, handles contacts, messages as well as apps, but also remembers your widgets, folder layouts etc. By far the quickest solution following a reset.

Yes you can even n use titanium backup but I heard people have issues with it, and in titanium backup the restoring is way slower plus the apps need to be restored manually..

Can work on cm9 as long as you're using same version. Like it works for CM9 and Paranoid Ancroid.
titanium backup seems to be best
as I switch between CM and Stock ROM.........
thanks for this tip:good:

No...as I know ace supports only like 3 recoveries. Clockwork mod is the best. You can backup data using titanium backup by touching menu button then batch and click run next to backup all user data and system apps. Then you can restore them the normal way. But in recoveries you have to backup everything.

I have both titanium and go installed and I find go superior for restore post rom flash
I have the titanium apk saved on my sd card, install that first, use that to install gobackup and s2e, then use go backup to restore the rest.
Go saves contacts, but also call history, messages, as well as your launcher and widget layouts as well as all apps, and it seems much quicker to restore things than titanium is. The downside is less options when restoring, but for a quick reinstall its the quickest. I use titanium for the other features such as freezing apps, restoring old backups, data etc.
You do know that this is just basically flashing a rom over another without data wiping. This method can be buggy 50%.

where is flashing a rom over another without data wiping? The rom is installed in the usual way, cache cleared, factory reset etc, install the rom. and then restore your apps. Its worth noting that the op just said he has tested it in CM7 based rom, so hes not changing rom source.
that said, several people in the thread, myself included have said it does not work with their cm7 based rom. I tested and got bootloops.
And honestly there is no point when there are perfectly good backup packages like titanium, go etc to use.
Can you confirm this is working with amarulls script installed.. ?

Titanium works the best!!
I tried carrying out some tests. And, it works perfect across CM7.
I flashed cm7 nightly, two of the RCs, and some stable releases and this method works great.
It's also a lot faster, because I am a gamer. And installing the games again, then copying data to appropriate location is very time consuming.
So this method works best for me.
I will try testing if it works on Lewa, Joy, Mokee OS..etc.
But, as long as the base is CM7, I don't think there is any problem that can come across.

[Q]uninstalling apps is very slow on any rom

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to find out if anyone else already experienced the same issue than me. When I'm uninstalling an app via the system app manager, it takes more than a minute to uninstall it (even small apps - few kb). This happens on every rom or kernel. I formatted my sd-card and removed it as well without success... I have no clue what to do or what causes this problem. I hope ther is someone who can assist. Would be great... thx in advance....

Is that 3rd-party app or you mean Settings-Applications?
I mean settings-apps...
But I tried 3rd party apps as well just to be sure... w/o success

So I returned to Stock Firmware and tried again to uninstall apps ... it seems that on stock rom everything is working fine ... I could uninstall them very fast ... it took just one or two seconds to uninstall an app.... But when I turned back to a custom rom ... the issue returned back ... that's a little strange ... what can I do ... now...???
To be honest, I am out of ideas. Which custom ROMs are you trying?
I used a lot FXP CM10... ultimate hd... lxp cm10.1 & 10.2 and others... lupus kernel, fxp kernel etc... as soon as Im using a custom rom, I get this speed problem...

would this work? twrp data restore?

if I backed up my current phone in twrp. put that file on another phone (not an xs) and selected to restore data only.
would that work?

Which rom.
It depends if framework of xperia s and second phone are similar.
I personaly wont advice that, you can brick or some part of phone wont work due framework.

Since u r restoring data only, i think its concerned only with another phone's recovery being the same one which u used to backup(in this case its TWRP) and also i think it may be this one thing related.. Both should have same version of Android OS running.. I mean if u did a backup of JB 4.1, then u should restore it in 4.1 only.. Most of the apps won't work in ICS and 4.2 JB as well.. U can give it a try and give a feedback of what happened.. Make sure u have another backup in the new phone, just in case..
that's what I'm wondering. both are on 4.3 and obviously as it's data only and nothing system related. surely it should work? maybe get a couple of force closes on contacts etc. but majority should?

Which rom are you using?
If rooted then i would advice to clean dalvic cache and install the rom again.
Then install whatsapp and avoid restoring backup. Once you have whatsapp running u can restore backup. Also check for .nomedia files and delete if any
