I went into all ATT, BestBuy and RadioShack around the town and none had LG Nitro. In BestBuy they don't even have a mokup and guy I talked to thought the phone is not out yet.
So I was wondering, why is that? Maybe it's because the phone is so f.up hardware wise, and we should expect a recall?
AT&T is being quite funny about the Nitro. I ran into the same problem with it in Boston when it came out. No one had a display model or stock. I had to call around to 5 stores before I found one. No clue why that is.
Why what's wrong with the Nitro hardware-wise?
The AT&T store is the only one local that has it in stock. I bought mine at Best Buy, but it was a special order. Dunno why they aren't pushing the Nitro. What is messed up hardware wise?
Broken compass is a huge blow (for me), mic in headset that works on 4 different android phones doesn't work on nitro, notifications also don't play through headset.
Horrible battery life if you use phone more then just keeping it in standby. Oh and have usb port on top - is a nonsense!

Don't you already have the phone? Now you make it sound like you've never supported the phone, while you've been doing so from the beginning [email protected]
Compass is not broken, it just takes a while to find it's bearing (although the GPS catch is the fastest out there) Mic works perfectly on my headset (I use the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi, and also tested it on the ibeats and beats pro and both worked fine). Notifications have always worked on every single headsets i used with this phone, with mic or no mic (sony, logitech, altec lansing, sennheiser, panasonic, etc). Battery life have improved in time over a months period, and now I just charged once and I can keep running the whole day using it for various things. And USB on top? works perfectly for me since I can line up the 3.5mm jack with the usb when I'm in the car and can put the phone in one of the cup holders. In case someone wants to mention the usb cover, it's not flimsy at all. as long as you don't try to yank it off, it does not even look like it will break anytime soon.
Now back to topic...I have a feeling AT&T might have some kind of an agreement with Samsung to promote their phones more aggressively over their other phones, maybe so they can get the Note and the Nexus in their roster. I actually noticed that AT&T makes no attempt to promote the LG phone other than during the announcement even from the first days it was released. In one of our malls here, there's 2 AT&T spots, one is a small kiosk, the other is a big store. Only the big store has it on display, and even now, 2 months later, the small kiosk still doesn't have it displayed. Same thing with a Radio Shack here in a town near me and in Brooklyn. I went in to look for possible cases for the phone, saw that there is no dummy phone shown, asked the guy where's the Nitro HD, and they're like huh? what phone? I had to speak to the manager and he said oh we do not carry that here.
I doubt it's hardware issue. If it was a battery issue, AT&T can issue a bigger better battery replacement instead of losing business. Or it could possibly be that they do not promote the phone to avoid having to deal with customer complaints about the battery, of course it only applies to those who don't wait and see how much better the battery is now. I still say it's something to do with an agreement with another maker.

not quiet understand you there. Yes, from the day one I was bashing this phone for it's flaws, simply because it's not worth the $600 price tag. If it was sold for $200 in retail, I'd love it.

Really? Do you have anything to compare it with? I'd like to see how it works for you. For instance load up the google navigator and select "walk", then open the map and see how "you" will spin and point in all kind of directions while the phone is stays still.

Some headsets don't have problems, I agree, but some, that work on other phones don't work on Nitro. Lack of drivers? Maybe, I don't know, but it's a fact.

Again, I'm comparing it to my use as I've been using 3 other phones in 4 years period, Nitro dies in 3 hours.

Perhaps, however don't expect any kind of gadgets such as docks or webtops for this phone. And do you know why they put that cover? It's to protect the usb port from dust and crap, because most people care the phone in their pockets, upside down...
Hmmm got home today at 9pm, looked at the phone and couldn't believe my eyes, it shows 4G LTE icon. Either I didn't notice it at 5pm or they added Tampa Bay to LTE network between 5 and 9 today...
Let's the throttling war begin
I just missed it! I was in St. Pete/Tampa over the weekend and was shocked they didn't have LTE (yes yes, I know they weren't on the short list of markets)... Congrats on getting it now! I live in Boston and work in NH and its such a huge difference in speed between HSPA (at work) and LTE (at home), its ridiculous.
Starting to wonder if i should stick with the 900 or go to a titan II.
My first Lumia 900 had an issue where when people called me they would get an echo and feedback. AT&T replaced the sim card several times with no success, replacing the device fixed the issue.
now, on my second Lumia 900, the speaker seems to randomly stop working. The keys during texting will stop making noise, ringtones aren't audible, and music isn't audible either. Sometimes, before the sound goes out completely it will start to stutter or lag. I've had mixed results in whether or not a restart of the phone fixes this issue. I also find that they auto rotate on the phone is not very accurate either.
Anyone else having these issues? possible a firmware update can fix this? I have only a couple of days left to return this for another 900 or go to a Titan II and i'd have to return this one to get another lemon.
Pre-ordered mine. Picked it up on 4/6. Never had a data issue or the the issues you describe. I do experience the "phone not waking with camera button", which a soft reset always fixes. Checked diagnostics and the button responds fine, so I know it's software. No purple hue. The back button occasionally (1 in 10) opens the multi-task screen, but again this appears to be a timing/software issue. The vibration sound is different, but that doesn't make it bad. Just different. Overall, pleased with my phone and certain that Nokia will deal with these little nits shortly.

We all know that not every phone is perfect. I don't think you're talking about that. Reasonable people have reasonable expectations.
I've replaced mine once. Not even my request...walked into my AT&T store to show my wife something...and the guy that sold me the phone asked to see it. He did something...and said, let me replace it. Apparently the vibrater was loose,,,or rather, more loose than it should be. I didnt notice it.
I did not have data connect issues. The purple screen impacts me only if I switch to low light...which I do not and most likely never will do. I do have a wifi data issue...but the impact is rare.
The guy next to me at work has the Titan II. He likes it...but its too big for me. I can tell he's not way overjoyed with it....but it suits his needs. We both work in a place that does Mobile software....so we both know our phones have a shelf life of...until the next big thing.....so most problems, for me...are almost always liveable....
kev.schu,
I did not have any of your problems. I started a thread about my purple screen saga. I went through three phones. Actually I think 8 were tested but I only had three in my possession when I left the store. Your sound issues seem a little outside the norm. That is not a quirk I have really heard about. I would be kind of inclined to seek a remedy.
I was bothered about my purple screen but others are not. Some people are bothered by the rattle but I can live with mine. It does sound ridiculous compared to other phones but it's not a deal breaker for me. Otherwise I'm happy.
I went through six devices. But it was because of the vibrate rattle. None of them had any other issue with the exception of the purple hue on my latest one. Being that it's software related I rather stick it out with this phone and have an issue Nokia can fix, than be stuck with the rattle. I'm telling you, my girlfriend and I got the same phones on the same day, hers was quiet, and my first five devices clicked like the world was coming to an end on vibrate. I would ask reps, and other customers in the stores and NONE of them had the problem. I guess since I kept taking the ones with the rattle before they were able to -_-

What do you mean by "clicked?" Mine buzzes like a small electric shaver. It only "clicks" when you change from photo to video in the camera. But it's just one audible click. I've heard the rattle varies from phone to phone. It's allegedly not an all or nothing deal.
Let's see, this is my 3rd one. My first one went into a boot loop when I ran the update from my Mac, I am guessing I may have done something wrong being it was my first experience with Windows Connector. My second one had the the purple hue and this one is perfect (keeping my fingers crossed).
None of the three had any other issues. Tomorrow is the end of my 30 days and there is no other device out there that I want over my Lumia.

It clicked... Like click click lol, when it would begin to vibrate, and on short vibrates like with the ringer, it was just clicking...

I haven't had to replace mine, but my dad has had to have his replaced four times now. Once for echo and feedback issue when on calls, twice for purple screen and once for the rogue voice control popping up at random times even when the phone is not in use.
After playing with the phone some more it turns out it is some sort of short circuit issue. Whenever I put any sort of pressure on the back of the phone the sound would stop. This also meant that even setting it on the table on its back, would make the sound stop working at times. I took the phone back showed them the problem and replaced it.
I exchanged my black one from launch dare for a white one yesterday. The original had issues with the capacitive buttons and vibration noise but I actually like the vibration because I could always tell it apart from other cell phones at table. The white one is working perfectly

I bought mines on the 21st and haven't had any issues. Knock on wood. However my gf got the phone last Wednesday and hers had the purple screen issue as well as the horrible vibrating issue. We took in to get swapped and they all had the purple screen issue. However one of them did not have the vibrating issue so we wen with that one because I know Nokia is going to release a fix for the purple screen.

Actually had to replace mine the same day i bought it.
Couple hours after i bought the phone i locked it and put it in my pocket. Couple hours later i took it out and it was completely dead. Held down the power button, tried different button combinations but couldn't get it to do anything. Only activity i could get is when i plugged it in to charge it would vibrate.
Haven't had any issue with the replacement though
I'm very tempted to get a lumia 900 instead of an htc one x but man it sounds like there are some serious quality control issues...
Are you guys still happy with the phone or is it annoying at this point?
I am very happy with mine. Not going back to Android anytime soon.

since your considering the one x then it becomes a matter of preference. Sense 4 is one the the best Android experiences so far. Having said that, I've used a ported Sense 4 rom for some time on my last phone and I still think WP7 is a better experience. Replacing your phone is pretty painless, I didn't have any troubles.
I'd buy it through amazon though (half the price at $50), so shipping back and forth woudl be a massive pain...
Returning my first one tomorrow.
Capacitive buttons just stopped working. Reflashed FW and everything, but they won't return. Kinda makes it hard to get around the phone.

I exchanged by black Lumia 900 for a white one because of the purple screen issue. It doesn't have the quietest vibrate mode but I can live with that. I got my Lumia 900 for free during the rebate period. I could not imagine paying $200 more for an HTC One X. With the mandatory data fees these companies charge I don't ever see myself paying $200 for a contract phone.

I assume you don't have any form of backup for it? The tool I wrote last fall has served me well to backup and fully restore my lumia 900 after I "play" with it and mess things up. I don't update the thread anymore because I don't have the time to handle all the problems international folks were having and now someone else wrote a tool that does the same thing.
Ok that was a tangent... anyway, I wonder if restoring to a prior version would help? I know you said you tried a different "firmware" but this would get you the original config on the phone. Seems odd those buttons just stop working. It will SUCK that all app settings will be lost when you get a new phone.
I wish I had more time to dev. I would love to get an app that could be sideloaded with highest privileges to take all application isolated storage data and skydrive it.
Hey guys...
So I noticed since day one of getting my kick ass phone that if I had the volume say 75% or higher on the ear piece that I would get what sounded like distortion. I chocked this up to the speaker not being able to handle the volume, and quite frankly neither could I - at least for the people who like to yell into their phone... Anyway, I found today that it seemed to be more pronounced, even at what I would call moderate volume. After messing around a bit - I am fairly convinced that the speaker in the phone is loose! If I tap on the back of the phone right on the camera, I can hear whats sounds and faintly feels like a vibration. So naturally if the speaker is loose and some point it would start to vibrate, which in a sense could sound like distortion.
So... with that said - anyone else notice this with theirs? Normal? I'm thinking not but thought I would ask. If in fact it needs repair, how has one gone about getting theirs fixed? I know it is under warranty since it is maybe 30 days old bought from the Play Store. Will they send a new unit or does it go in for service and I have to find some clunker to use in the mean time?
Thanks - you guys are a great bunch to be a part of
... and gals
Update--
In case this helps someone in the future...
I was 2 days past Google's 14 day return policy
So after 18 days! The problem they found was that my phone would not take a charge? WHAT?
So the status said that they were sending me a replacement. I was concerned that they might send someone's refurbished phone and being that mine was only 16 days old - I would hope that it would be new. So... I called CS and asked if the phone they were send was a refurb or new and he assured me that is was new. I hope.
So, one last question...
Anyone that has gotten a replacement phone lets say within 30days of buying it new... was it a new phone or did they in fact send a refurb?
I just picked up the new Nexus 7 yesterday, and tried out the microphone today. In either Camera (via video) or Google Now, it basically just picks up constant noise. It's not even "noise plus minor sound" - just all noise.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas if there might be a fix apart from replacing it?
I assume I have to get a replacement, but since it's sold out near me and I'd like to avoid going through a replacement wait when I can't get a new one quickly, I thought I'd ask.
I just returned it - I thought better to not wait, since they might be sold out later once it actually gets "released". No need to worry about finding a solution for my sake.
My new one has a working microphone, so I'm just chalking it up to hardware defect.
Has anyone noticed any hardware defects with their models yet?
my raising volume button seems to get stuck pretty often, like maybe 30% of the time. That is, it fails to raise the device volume. The button to lower volume seems to work fine though
Wow, do I gave the only defect?... Does anyone know the replacement process / policy if I didn't purchase the sprint protection plan?
Haven't noticed a single thing - everything running absolutely perfect and definitely haven't had that volume issue.
I'm not sure what you do if you didn't get insurance but if it is an actual manufacturing defect I'm pretty sure you can go through Samsung themselves. (I've only ever used Asurion or Squaretrade myself never through the actual manufacturer)

My battery cover doesnt snap all the way on...REALLY annoying for my OCD...i need to try and call sprint and see if theyll let me swap just the back i dont want a whole new phone.
Also using the cable it came with i only get USB charging...using my old Note 2 cable i get AC charging...the actual charger works but the cable doesnt seem to. I must have gotten a crappy package. At least the phone itself seems fine lol

All of my hardware and software keys just stopped working minus the home button and volume up button. Becoming really frustrating especially since ive only had the phone for 6 hours.
Hiss in video recordings
I recorded some video last night with no problem. Today, I discovered a hiss in all new recordings. I restarted the phone to no avail. Will be exchanging the phone for a new one tomorrow.

Darn, that's slightly frustrating.. I was so excited and happy for this phone, even this lemon is so difficult to part with ;P
Beautiful device though, Samsung really hit it out of the park this time!
I am having an issue with my Wi-Fi. It will not stay connected. I have to reboot the phone just to get it to come on. Then when it comes on it will not stay on if I am not using the phone. Other than that it works fine.
If I charge the phone for an extended period of time, it will not wake. I have to perform a battery pull to restart it. I have tried with the quick charge settings on and off, and I have tried with the included Samsung charger and a Palm charger. I'll probably take it back to Sprint for a replacement.

I have a white model from Tmo and it's absolutely perfect so far. I would imagine that anyone of you having serious issues with your note 4 should bring it back to your carrier right away without delay. At least call them.

Just a reminder. Do a *#0*# test on your phone before walking out the door. That won't catch every defect, but it will catch quite a few.

Dialing *#0*# on ant Samsung phone puts the phone into self-test mode. You can test almost every sensor, button, and speaker on the phone. It's fantastic for testing the AMOLED screen too. The only thing I don't think it tests are the microphones.
My white one has a bum barometer sensor. It reports a value, but it's stuck at 29.870 in Hg. Doesn't budge at all from that value. Best buy is going to exchange or when they get more in stock. Other than that, no gap, no issues whatsoever.
Damn, I'm having a lot of trouble exchanging my phone.. All the sprint stores I've went to the past 3 days have all said they are out of stock..
Has anyone else exchanged their phone at sprint yet? Should have bought my phone f4om best buy :/ don't like dealing with sprint
