Hi all!
I've been using custom ROMs for a while now, and have always found the answers somewhere on these forums. As a "noob" and thus not being able to post in the development forum, I have to ask this question here. Actually the Desire development forums were the only part I had visited up until now...
Yesterday I installed Runnymede AIO v4.0.1 on my Desire and it's a great ROM. It runs very smoothly and I don't have any problems with it, except when using whatsapp. Whatsapp is... at most times completely unresponsive. It takes at least 30 seconds to open the application when it's running. Then opening the contact takes another 10 seconds and sending or receiving messages is nearly impossible. When the other person is writing a message whatsapp just freezes and I can't even use the onscreen keyboard.
I tried another full wipe, reinstalling whatsapp... but it doesn't make a difference. My question is if someone else has a solution to this problem?
In the Runnymede AIO thread I noticed two other posts describing a similar problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20904609&highlight=whatsapp#post20904609
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20822901&highlight=whatsapp#post20822901
As Whatsapp is very important to me, I would really like to fix this but I'm out of ideas. Later today I will do a nandroid backup of the current ROM and revert to my previous nandroid backup of Insertcoin v1.1.4 until there is a fix. Never had these problems with whatsapp before...
FYI: Running first type Desire GSM (bravo) with amoled, PVT1 S-OFF, latest 4Ext recovery, CM7r2 hboot with XD2SDX and 1024 MB ext4 on a 16 GB Class 4 microSD.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Anyone?
i really have no idea.
works like a charm for me.
uninstall the app then re-install it.or you could try clearing the apps cache first ..or try unchecking hboot some apps dont like it ..
edit you could also try looking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764163
Thanks for your input.
Today I took the time to wipe everything again and installed v5.1 SE.
Installed Whatsapp from Market and had it import the previous messages. Everything seemed fine and it was working ok for about half an hour. Then the same problems as before started to appear. First typing was slow, then whatsapp became unresponsive and eventually I just gave up trying to even use it.
Nandroid backupped everything and went back to IC 1.1.4 again...
By unchecking hboot, do you mean unchecking fastboot?
I haven't tried that yet, but will tonight. Right now I just really need whatsapp to work properly
I have the same problem. Response is very slow only with whatsapp but once I Clear all the convers it works fine. When I get alot of msgs it gets slower and slowe until it gets very difficults to use.
My device is desire hd with the same room.

I recently rooted my Desire a couple of weeks ago and installed Leedroid. I also partitioned my SD card using ROM manager.
Is there a well known problem with Flash or something running this ROM?
My phone seems to crash a lot when using Dolphin Browser and viewing flash on websites. It basically restarts the phone and I sometimes get a picture of an android up with some writing in the bottom right corner which looks like it says crash or something.
I'm sorry if I've missed a similar thread but any help would be appreicated.
cheers

using leedroid for a while and never had this issue, if your flash version is 10.2 try downgrading it to 10.1
I love LeeDroid!
So am I!!!
ok I'll give the flash a downgrade and see how it goes. Does anyone know what crash screen I'm on about?
Hi
I had the same issue. The phone crashed when i used the default web browser.
Restart to the phone seems to help but after a day ot two the problem returns
I'm getting the exact same problem and couldn't work out what it was until I noticed it happened when I when on some websites.
Like you the phone would lag and pressing saying messages would take it about a minute to load up and the only thing which would sort it would be rebooting the phone.
I was on Leedroid 2.3b so yesterday I put 2.3d on and the problem was still there.
I've just put 2.3b back on wiped my cache and I'll see how that goes but I've just been on the same websites and it hasn't crashed so I'll see how it goes and let you know then might downgrade to 10.1 is it still occurs.
EDIT: Just went on a site for flash games and the phone froze then rebooted itself.
I've had the same issue with redux gingerbread rom when using the default browser, with both flash player 10.1 and 10.2.
Its not specific to leedroid.
Posted telepathically. Oh yes.
I recently installed LeeDroid and have been experiencing a few problems myself. Not exactly rebooting, but a slowdown which forces me to reboot the phone myself.
COULD it perhaps be a problem with A2SD+ and using EXT-partitions on a class 2 SD-card? I mean, running a lot of flash-content with the Flash Player installed on the EXT-partition would be slower than running it from the phones internal memory, right? I recently tried watching an online TV broadcast as a flash-video and my phone completely froze while TV sound was still running. And my SD-card is class 2
I put 2.3 d back on my phone and then went onto the marketplace, then to the flashplayer and uninstalled the updates.
This for me has fixed it and it hasn't crashed as yet having tried on lots of flash sites.
You can also see from the flash 10.2 comments on the market place that a lot of people are having issues with it.
how do you downgrade from 10.2 to 10.1?????????????

Uninstall 10.2, install 10.1
I've posted the .apk in the InsertCoin 2.0.1 thread.

Sorry for not posting the solution, for the solution, I will post it now.
Problem:
My S-OFF and rooted Desire worked fine with different Sense 2.1+3.0 ROM's. Then I wanted to try out a fully Sense 3.0 ROM - this worked fine (despite that it killed my cam + flash), but I found it a bit slow on my Desire, so I wanted to restore a backed up ROM. After the restore, my Desire keeps booting into the ROM, stays at the home screen for 1-5 seconds, and then reboots. This cycle goes on untill the battery is empty. I also tried to install ROM's from scratch with full wipe, but the outcome is the same as above.
Solution:
I installed the official Stock RUU ROM and then it works again, I even rooted it and also run the Alpha Rev to make it S-OFF. All this without any problems...or that is almost without any problems, because my cam + flash are still not working..!
New problem
After this I of course tried to install new ROM's again, but this doesn't work any more, the the initial Issue with rebooting reappears.
Maybe instead of just writing solved, leave the problem there and add your solution for other users that might encounter the same problem.

indeed...
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters
Dear fellow Desire owners,
i really like my InsertCoin rom but it's getting on my nerves lately. It crashes or hangs frquently. I see the lockscreen but nothing happens except when I pull the battery.
This has been happening more and more. Sometimes I notice my phone has been hanging for an our or so. I then have to remove the battery to get it working again.
I first thought it was the radio so I flashed it with version: 5.17.05.23 but things are getting worse. This morning I had to use the navigation but it kept hanging. At last I reverted to a NANDROID backup I made a week ago.
My question now is: how can I find out what is buggering my phone? Is there a log or an app that can do some troubleshooting? Is it an app that makes my Desire so miserable? How can I know this? Please help me.
Thanks!
Go back to stock rom to find out if it's the rom. If problem persits, call HTC.

Before you reflash again your Desire, you can check and format your sdcard.
Or change a new sdcard and faster speed.
If the same issue, it might be hardware issue on Desire.
Because I used IC ROM from 1.1.0 to 1.1.4, every version is so far so good.
So what you're saying basically is that there's no way of checking logs or troubleshooting or whatever?
So I did a full whipe and installed v1.1.3. Which went well for a week or so, but then it started crashing again on a daily basis.
I went ahead and bought myself a class 10 8GB sdcard. I just copied everything and did a nandroid restore. See if that works... And if that doesn't do the trick i'll try a full wipe and fresh install again.
Same problem
Hi,
I have exactly the same issue, could you give me the result of your experience with your new sd card ?
It's an old post but I would like to have an answer to my problem.
Thanks
All versions of insertcoin Rom were perfect... What class card do u use???
I use class 4... Works perfectly.....
So, I have HTC Desire with rooted MIUI rom for a while.
HTC Desire, GSM, MIUI 2.1.6
It was okay until 5th January. I have about 25 installed apps and anything was fine. Few days ago I noticed strange "Force stop" in apps like Twitter, Foursquare, Internet Browser.
Then the same started to happen with random restarts of the phone. The phone simply started, then restarted and entered into bootscreen loop, so I ejected battery and inserted and so on. Clearing Dalvik Cache doesn't help.
Also when I try to enter Wi-Fi settings it freezes and gives out "Force close application?" That's just ridiculous!
I have lately updated from previous MIUI version 2.1.4 because that problem started there, but with no changes.
Can you please help here?
i have always faced similar issues with MIUI , my phone doesnt like it
so i have simply stopped using it
edit: if you still want to use MIUI id suggest you stick with a stable version for a while rather than weekly updates
Well, it really might be like that. Seems like I fixed those issues by doing a full phone wipe and fresh flash. Which release can you suggest me?
Wich releases did you try before ?

I have MIUI on mine and flash each update. The biggest issue I have is that it tries to update and always fails with an E:\SDCard error in recovery. I just download and then flash the full rom (no wipes) and it works a treat. The one issue I have with 2.16 is that SMS messages disappear below my 'Better Keyboard' where they didn't in the version prior. I've switched to Android keyboard now but have yet to see if the issue persists. That said, it is by far the most stable ROM I've ever used and I'm running 40+ apps on it with zero problems.

As far as it is, it looks fine. No big problems at all. The only issue is that I backed up 5000+ messages back to phone, I like to store them there. Sometimes seems like it is a little hard for android to hold so many sms's.
Hey xda, I recently bought the HTC Desire second-hand at a phone store in London and loved it. My friend informed me about rooting and custom ROMs and I just had to do it. I rooted my phone without problem and then flashed CyanogenMod10.1 v6.3 (JellyBean 4.2.2) onto it and all was working fine but because of the internal memory problems on the desire, I partitioned my 2GB sd into 1gb ext4 and 1gb fat32 to give some room to install apps.
I then realised i hadnt run the a2sd scripts it says to run on the thread for CM10.1, so i reflashed the ROM and ran them. My phone was working fine for a while, but when i tried using my 3G connection to download something, the phone froze for a few minutes and then the CM boot screen came up again.
Now this is where it gets head-wrecking. When the boot screen finally finished, i was on my lock screen and tried to enter my password, the system was really laggy, and it took me about 4 minutes to enter my password and when i unlocked it froze again and went back to the CM boot.
Sometimes the boot gets stuck in a bootloop, and sometimes the system just boots normally and works fine. But when it does work, some apps (random each time the phone is booted) close on opening them ("Unfortunately, contacts has stopped working") and can freeze at any time randomly (mainly when i try to open google play store or turn on my 3G)
I'm not sure where I went wrong or why it's doing this..
It could be because its second-hand (although I doubt it because it was working 100% perfectly before i rooted and flashed it).
It could be I partitioned the sd wrong or didnt give any to the SWAP partition. (using 4-ext recovery to partition)
I don't really know..
Please if anyone has had the same problem (random freezing then rebooting with some apps not working sometimes) or knows what i can do, i would be so grateful. I love this phone and I'm in love with Jellybean too so if I can get it running smoothly with no issues, I will be so happy.
(in time between writing this and posting it, my phone seems to work with apps but can freeze at random still)
My phone details:

BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-OFF

And thanks for reading
Well with jellybean there are disadvantages. No jb ROM will be as fast or stable as gingerbread. You can try doing a full wipe and reflashing the ROM. If you're still getting lots of freezing maybe try some other jb ROMs. (ChromiumROM in my sig is pretty smooth)
The problem could also be your sdcard so try some others if have.
Also you have an outdated radio. Try updating to the latest and see if that solves anything.

After using it for the last week, I can confirm that the phone works perfectly 100% no crashes without my sim card in it. It will only freeze and reboot if the sim card is in it.. how do i fix this? Is this a problem with the radio?
