My battery drains within 6 hrs of WiFi usage. No heavy downloading or updating, (keeping auto sync off).
With out WiFi, the phone lasts for hardly 10-12hrs. Mobile data seem to last longer than wifi.
I am charging for more than 10hrs to make sure battery is full and there be no calibration error.
The issue started happening after I installed Sunabh ROM. I use to wonder why there is a "switch of WiFi notification" in Sunabh ROM, every time there is no wifi connection established. Now I know why.
What could be done to solve the issue ?. I have tried other AOSP, stock based ROMs after that but couldn't solve the problem.
Please suggest methods changing kernel, radio or may be calibration methods.
P.S. I wonder, why there is still no standard guide to improve battery life in this forum . There must be certain a software set that would provide maximum battery life (assuming average hours of use).

I use the "SenseOnFire" rom and my wifi is on all the time, when i dont use the phone that much the battery lasts 36h or more. but i noticed when i use the 3g my battery drains faster.
P.S. I had your problem when i used JokerDROID 4.2, the exact same thing
Try this out....it will help you on your present rom..
1. Go to recovery and wipe battery stats.
2. Open market and search and install battery calibrator.
3. Plug on charging and charge it to 100% and then open battery calibration app and click on battery calibration while keeping the charger plugged
4.after when the app says calibration done..remove your charger plug..and you are ready to go.. but after this step..let it discharge it to 0% and then charge it to 100% without break.. hope it works for you.
This improved my battery life to about 4-5 hour..

The other thing you can do is try reflashing latest radio. Unless you don't have an a3335 phone. Also try entering *#*#4636#*#* then in phone information scroll down then in " set preffered network type to " GSM auto prl ". It will save some battery.

Solved. Phheeewwww.
Guys, I solved the problem by working on the CID bug.

. Again, practicality. Please. Please.
There seems to be a misdirection in the entire forum on how to improve the performance of the phone. I hope a senior member consolidates and prepares a "How to improve your phone" post rather than a list of all ROMs and other useless shopping lists.
My phone runs 3 days now, it took only 1 minute of action. Cheers to non-dev guy who posted the method.

Was that directed at me? Sorry, I am not at your beck and call here. and I am not obligated to do anything for you. Help yourself.
If you feel there is need for a "how to improve Your phone" thread then crack on and make one because (sarcasm) you're obviously smarter than us all, one thing you forgot though is that every phone is different, yes some things work for all but some don't so even a thread like this might still be redundant for you!
Most people on here post suggestions from there own experiences when trying to solve problems for themselves, they may be correct they may not, you should be thankful to these people even if they're suggestions weren't right for you. And as for the list of roms and the shopping list I bet that thread has helped thousands of people solve problems, which is a damn sight more than you've done in this forum so jog on mate!!

Why he mention "pratically"? Practically means just what you can practice. And our suggestions are practiced by us. It may/ may not work for you. But you should check it. And about the thread you mentioned, dude each of us have personal interests. So as we customize our phones. Its different for every one. What you can do is roam around the forum and take what suits you the best.
Hey i can drink a full 750ml redlabel Scotch with out a single drop of soda. I prefer it that way. Can you? Its just as it.( no mention Pls. Just wrote an example)

Excuse my English
I have an HTC phone desire with a rom unofficial Cyanognenmod
My problem is the battery level, I leave my phone on charge until it displays charge (8 hours of load), but when I see the level at the top of the battery is just 18%
with 18% i can used my phone during the 14 hours with games and music ....
how can I solve the display problem pls
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Hi,
Is your phone rooted? You need to calibrate your battery. See guide here: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/calibrate-battery-on-android-devices-with-battery-calibration/
yea my phone is rooted & i tested all rom's in xda & all kernel also the caliberated mod no thing solve my problem
do you use your phone alot and do you run alot of apps
p.s. what rom are you using?
pls excuse my english
My problem is not that my phone goes off, the contrary.
I use my phone all day without problem, the problem is the bar indicator still shows that my battery level is 18% even if I leave it to load a week.
I am getting very haigh wakelock (Multipdp , l2_hsic) which is draining my battery , I changed kernals and ROMs , desabled and enabled fast dormancy , Reset factory settings , Full wiped but nothing could help to solve this problem.. is there any solution I can see my betterbatterystatus showing 3 HRS awake while I used the phone (SCREEN ON) only for 1.30HRS
can anyone help?
These wakelocks has to do with 3g and data connection, and will probably be high if you have poor reception or have a lot of data activity when screen off. Not necessarily indicating that something is wrong. Post bbs screenshot of wakelocks from a full cycle please.

Here's my bbs log. Even I'm suffering from this multipdp wakelock.
Bdw I've galaxy note and i reached this thread via a google search. But I guess this wake lock is independent of device.
There are a lot of threads addressing this issue. But all of them end up with a question and no answer after a few messages. I'm also suffering from this wakelocks since many years and it seems most people have given up on this - like me. Just every now and then when this wakelocks appear to have held the phone awake for about 20% of all the time they pop up to my mind again. Realizing that there still is no solution and no one seems to care about ..
Scenario:
Yes, yes, I know. Battery life issues. This is a common problem, noticeably on the Samsung Galaxy S3. However, I've taken a look at MANY MANY threads concerning this common and irritating issue. I always ensure that my data is off, wifi is off, airplane mode is enabled, power saving mode is on, sync is off, brightness is at low, etc. I've even gone to the running services section and manually stopped unnecessary processes. However, my battery life is still terrible. I've tried different roms, different kernels, and eventually found myself back at the stock rom and kernel (best stability). I've debloated my device. I even downloaded a bunch of useless battery saving apps that don't do much apart from the obvious. Is there anything I can do? I will be putting up screenshots of my battery stats.
Usage;
I am a typical user when it comes to smartphones. I browse through xda forums, watch some youtube videos, browse the internet, play a few games, and soon enough the battery begins to plummet. I've noticed at times that the phone gets hot. I have a general knowledge of the things that drain my battery the most. After looking at the battery stats section that comes with phone, it says that Android system, media, and screen use the most battery. Whats the point of having a smartphone if you have to tweak almost everything just to allow your phone to last one day?
I am thinking that there are certain background processes that are dramatically draining my battery. I don't have many apps installed, because I am always flashing roms. I've wiped media storage data, by the way. Some apps that I have installed are the xda developers app, dolphin browser, rescan media root, root browser, rom manager, DS Battery Saver, and lux dash.
Extra: I've debloated (still some left over garbage stock apps leftover but not much, and does it actually help?), I've installed lux lite and lowered my brightness to the point where you can barely see the screen, and I've also downloaded rescan media root and disabled media scan (I heard it has some effect).
If you have any suggestions, please post them. Thanks for reading my thread.

TL;DR all the way since there is no numbers. We need numbers and better yet wakelocks. The info you state sounds like normal usage that should get about 2-3 hours screen on time, and 16 hours or so day usage. You say you turn off data, and wifi, and put on airplane mode, and stuff and yet you use the phone normally?? Either way give us screen on time and the main users, and the graph.
Furthermore, no need for duplicate threads....

What do you mean when you said TL ;DR all the way? What is TL ;DR?
I'm going to charge up to 100% and then when I get to about 50% battery life or so I will post screenshots. As I stated in my first post, I acknowledge that there are many battery problem threads out there, but people also say it can vary from phone to phone, and I will soon post screenshots so that somebody can at least tell me what is causing my battery drain, specifically and what I can do about it.
If anybody feels that this is a duplicated thread, please refer me some links or useful threads that I can look at.

Should I just leave it overnight and then post bbs log tomorrow?
Btw, should I install ktweaker so that I can set governor to conservative and also tweak some settings or should I leave it alone?
Also if you really want reliable results, either run the tests on the primary rom you will be using or run on stock rooted. Dont debloat because it can be very easy to remove something that could impact performance. You can do that after running your tests and gathering data. The further down you run your battery, the more reliable the data btw.
This hasn't been much of an issue since JB came out, but if the media scanner is using a large amount of power delete all your media content from both internal and external sd cards. Clear data on media storage (factory reset preferred) and run a day w/o the media on your device.
As stated above though, BBS screenshots are needed for further help.

No.
Charge it up before you go to sleep. Unplug the phone, turn off the display, and let it sit idle while you sleep for at least 4 hours. When you wake up, open BetterBatteryStats, and press the share button on the top right. Dump to txt file and post it here.
If you give BBS root access, and set it to show alarms (in the advanced settings), that can be helpful also. It's better if you can do this, actually. Then run your test.

I was referring to you making two posts about the same thing. As you're already aware of since you acknowledged your mistake here

I left it on overnight, battery only drained like 4% so I don't think its a problem when its in idle. As of now I am testing how long my battery will last with moderate usage. I'm hoping it will last at least 24h its been 10h and its at 79%. Its that good? I've mostly been listening to music, I haven't opened any apps. Only problem is whenever I am on xda or playing a game, the battery seems to drain like 1% every 5-10 min. Is this normal?

Have you seen this? http://www.jeffmixon.com/examining-build-prop-tweaks-for-android-ics-a-comprehensive-guide-part-1/
Most of the battery "tweaks" in use by custom ROMs are in there. And I was running stock deodexed before S3Rx and ultimately Dandroid. Battery is always good as long as I run LJC firmware.

Just took a quick look at it, looks pretty complicated for me. What exactly is the difference between deodexed and odexed anyways? I've heard of both of them but never really understood what they were. Which firmware do you run on currently?
For the firmware are you referring to the 4.1.1 JB firmware T999_UVDLJC?
I have posted the same on lenovo forums....
You can check the images also... really weird and for a battery beast, this kind of is an ironic bug. Any one else?

Mind you, I hadn't put my phone on airplane mode or switched off. What I HAVE done though is 'prevented' Google app from running in the background. But not sure if that has anything to do with this strange behaviour.
Bump, I am surprised and glad (?) no one else has this problem.. I still see the same issue. Can't make out any fix or workaround at all.

I hadn't switched off my mobile or put it into airplane mode when the gap on the graph showed up. Then why was the blank there in the graph? I have posted more pics on the Lenovo forum link in OP
I have seen this happening as well, mostly overnight. It is presumably just a simple bug in displaying the graph. The large battery combined with the low energy consumption (especially with extreme energy saving on) yields in an energy usage of less than 1% over a certain amount of time. The graph then should be a flat horizontal line, but this does not seem to be drawn correctly

Good explanation, yes have only seen it happening overnight. I am surprised not many have reported this. I think it's an annoyance when you have a battery centric phone which can't report battery drain accurately.
Just try using GSam and the stats will be displayed correctly.
