U will know when they are starting to release it because their will probably be more outages around the area from them trying to get the network right just like with Verizon. I've seen a couple of threads for places where they are trying to get it up now reporting outages

Thanks! As a USF student this is great news. I got my Galaxy Nexus and honestly thought I wouldn't be using LTE till sometime in 2013 but if this is true that is great news.
I'm a Brandon Verizon Gnexus user, but I'm glad the Sprint Brethren will be getting LTE sooner rather than later, I'll be sure to pass this on to my friends with Sprint :3

I also live in Brandon, verizon gnex. I get a good connection to 4G and then data completely drops after a short period. My phone or is anyone else having this issue?
Forgive the Hijack, just thought having the attention of locals was a good opportunity.
hello,
How is the reception on the Verizon Nexus? I heard there was a radio issue but not sure if it was true or if it got fixed. Anyway... any feed back will be appreciated.
Better.. was like utter crap before the last release.. battery was doing well and 4g signal worked as well as can be expected..
it's been great in Phoenix
It depends on your location. Some areas have great VZW coverage, others not so much. You should ask your local friends if they like their coverage.
However, I have found VZW has better penetration into large buildings. When I had AT&T + iPhone, I always lost signal at work unless I stood by a window. With VZW, my GNex rarely drops calls no matter where I am (of course, the two different phones may have been a factor).
You hear complains about the GNex radio and dropped calls/data, but you shouldn't let that sway your decision. Every model that comes out will have its share of units with constant signal problems, and the GNex is no different. Owners of such phones fill the forums with complaints & requests for help (legitimately so), which tends to give the phone a bad reputation. But the vast majority of GNex owners never have major signal problems. And those that were having signal loss with the original radios will most likely agree that signal quality has improved significantly with the latest firmware.
Thank you for those quick replies... I was asking because in some places I read is a bug with ICS and others that is the radio. I got a GS3 but i'm going to return it and get a Nexus till the new Nexus comes out.
I have good signal just about everywhere.

I've only had mine for a week and Verizon signal is great. 4g is great too. Only thing that's weak is Wi-Fi for some odd reason. Honestly... the Galaxy S3 is a sweet phone , played with one yesterday. But for some reason I like my Nexus better. The screen on the GS3 is better but that's about it. And not worth it yet cause of its locked bootloader. You will be happy with a Nexus.

The signal is spotty. It was like that with my coworker's Fascinate. I foolishly thought they'd get it together a year later when our nexus launched. Nope, it still sucks in the DC area. My other coworker picked up the SIII it *still* sucks! I don't know or care if it is Samsung or Verizon that sucks when it comes to data on VZW's LTE but it's pathetic.

There are definitely areas where Verizon is not king. I spend a week or so in Torrance every year, and Verizon sucks there bigtime. In fact, I think ATT had LTE right on Redondo Beach. Or so I was told. I barely had 3G, although to my defense I was on JB at the time.
My experience has always been very good with this phone. This link says it all!
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/25921-this-is-why-your-verizon-nexus-signal-sucks/
I've learned to ignore the signal bars all together, as long as my texts and calls go through; which they do even when there's no bars showing.
4G is spotty on here, but I'm on wifi 95% of the time anyway, and on 3G the remainder...4G isn't worth anything to me really.
Cheers
I have no problems in Pittsburgh

Guys--
Live in northwest suburbs outside chicago and have LTE signal out of nowhere. Specifically Bartlett,IL next to elgin/st charles/carol stream. I cant run a solid speedtest since it locks up when it checks for upload speed but got 6meg down with less than 70 millisecond times. It was going in and out im assuming from testing but it seems more consistent as i type this. Will upload speedtest results if it stops locking up.

When we were without service last month for a day Sprint told me they were adding lte to all the towers. It hard to believe anyone because nobody knows when there gonna flip the switch for sure. Sprint could of handled this better by not telling people next month or in August because the Sprint reps are consistently telling people anything to shut them up, they could have been like we're not sure and leave it at that. I wouldn't mind waiting if 3g was really 3g like on T-Mobile or [email protected] but it's really slow and unusable. I would never in my life consider there service worthy of a smartphone . I can't even stream a two minute video on YouTube it's ridiculous. This is the main reason people are so impatient ,I'm new to Sprint only a month in but i can't believe people been with these slow speeds so long, i would of jump ship along time ago. No lte by october then im off to Verizon or [email protected] where i can use my phone in a productive manor.

Actually, Samsung (the OEM) is handling the actual NV upgrades, and they've fallen a bit behind schedule from where they should be. I'm pretty sure those towers were probably originally scheduled for July, but got bumped back like a lot of them have. Sprint's really just waiting on Samsung and the backhaul providers to get everything going before they can finish it up and green light the tower.

Part of the reason why you're getting such slow 3g speeds is BECAUSE of the lack of 4g. When every single smart phone user is only using 3g, (and has unlimited data) is slows the network for everyone. Once lte is up and running we'll see speed increases in 3g as well. Just wait it out. Sprint is hands down the best deal in wireless, has great customer service, awesome phones, and unlimited data. The speed will come.

Call 3 times in a row, each time make sure you choose end sprint service, and I bet you could leave now. Worth a shot.

I had 7 months left on my contract, called them to see what the ETF would be, they said 50 bucks, cancelled that day. The ETF shrinks fast, you should check into it!
Welcome to Verizon, been with them for about ten years with no major issues other than paying an arm and a leg. Guess it's worth it for the quality of service they give.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I switched to Verizon from Sprint in February with four months left on my contract. They said the ETF would be $50, which would have been well worth it, but they never actually charged me for it. The service is far superior--I can use LTE almost anywhere as opposed to WiMAX almost nowhere and I no longer have to use Juice Defender to prevent my battery from draining like crazy due to poor signal, which allows me to use Google Voice to its full extent and save money on messaging--and it actually turns out to be cheaper for me than Sprint. The only downside is that I no longer have unlimited data, but 4GBs is more than enough, so it doesn't really matter anyway. I dislike Verizon's stance on locking the bootloaders for most of it's phones, but as long as they keep supporting Nexus devices, I'll be set. I think you made a very good choice in switching.

I agree with this. I've been on three of the four major US characters. AT&T had decent service, but horrid customer service. T-Mobile had great customer service, but horrid coverage in my area. VZW has been the best of both for me. I'd like better coverage at my workplace, but I think that our building was designed to be a Faraday cage anyway.
I've been with VZW for about 4 or 5 years now, and I pretty much hadn't needed their customer service until the last 6 months. Because of repeated issues with my Droid Charge (after owning it for 11 months), they freely replaced it with my current Nexus. My wife's Droid X recently developed problems with the screen and USB port. Today, they bumped her upgrade date up. It's was only bumped up to now from 6 weeks out, but they easily could have told her "too bad; you have to wait".
I'm not too pleased with the recent changes like the removal of unlimited data and the removal of the yearly upgrades for the primary line of a family plan, but they're still the top option for me in my area.
Yeah buddy!!! I just did same thing with mine and the wife's phones...no etf or anything..and I still had a year on contact. Was with Sprint for close to 10 years and finally got tired of the spotty coverage. No regrets at all. Limited data is better than slow data!!,

Arizona got minimal coverage over WiMax. We still aren't on that list anywhere. At least, I've noticed a significant improvement on 3g in my area. I was sorely tempted to jump ship to a more expensive GSM option for all five people on my plan. HSPA+ would almost be worth the extra $ each month.
