I believe USB OTG is not supported in 4.0.1. Maybe in .2 definitely in .3.

It supported in point 2 except for data. Stickmount comes in handy for that. And rtfm on chainfires app and website would've explained all this if op rtfm.

Lol. You need to ota or manually flash. 4.0.2 and then you're good to go with chainfires and flash drives. Everything else should work if compatible. Read the ****ing manual. Chainfires had disclaimers everywhere and links to his website that otg will only work for.2 and above and his app was needed for now for flash drives. Rtfm is your friend.

I haven't had enough otas to know if they start changing around the way information is displayed, but I doubt it. Note top right, it just shows build, not the Android version. Sorry, its in my nature to automatically doubt ota screenshots that conveniently never update.

I'm with ya on that! I'm seeing if I can get the guy to pull the update file and post it. Anyone know how to do this??
It will be under /cache. I've never had a Nexus before now to know what it will be named, but it will be ~29mb.
adb pull /cache/filename.whatever.
Should save to his/her computer.
The anticipation is killing me!!
Edit: Nevermind

You cannot view cache from an explorer, unless its a root explorer.
adb shell ls /cache

[Q] Carrying dead T-mobile SII (T989) :(

Hi People,
I just murdered my T-Mobile SII (T989) :crying:
It was bright Saturday morning, was browsing through web, saw update on forums about official ICS update available for T-Mobile devices.
I have immediately and successfully updated my device to ICS, everything went well and was enjoyinh ICS. But, then the worm inside me yapped and from nowhere I started rooting the phone.
This is the moment it got killed and now I've dead device in my hand.
1. Buttons combo doesn't work.
2. Unable to get the device in download mode.
3. Phone is no longer getting detected on Laptop and throws (qhsusb_load / drivers not successfully installed.) error message.
4. Phone doesn't turn on at all.
I know it’s hard-bricked, but please tell me if there is any way to solve this?
Will JIG option work; if the device is hard-bricked?
I am based in India and sending phone for JTAG would be bit difficult, so kindly suggest if there is any way?
Nikhil
The jig is supposed to work in these type of situations.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
I went through this and as far as I know the only way to fix is a jtag service. Or if you can jtag it yourself. I made a 301k USB jig and it doesn't work so jtag is the only option I know unless you warranty it.

OP, you had to of selected re-partion hard drive while flashing the custom recovery through Odin. If this is true there is no fix. Sorry. This destroys the boot partion and recovery nor download mode will work. Did you get a failed message through Odin?

send it to mobiletechvideos, they ship international.

Today, my friend, is great as I just got my previously hard bricked phone back from mobiletechvideos! They unbricked mine after I accidentally tried installing a different model gs2 rom to my phone (price is right fail music). If using the jig everyone recommended isn't working, definitely send it to them and they'll try to get your phone back to life!:good:

I'm still a pretty big noob when it comes to flashing stuff! I'm on gingerbread right now and am a little scared to death to flash anything :S then again the main reason I bricked out was because I attempted to flash a rom that was for a different galaxy s2. I'm still researching on how to safetly flash different roms and which ones work the best

A jig is a USB chord that you take the chord off and attach certain resistors(usually total 301k) to the micro USB connector. Then when u plug it into a phone it should force it into download mode. It however does not work for this phone.

So I keep reading, a lot, that otg and dongle work, but then nobody shows how or what brand...
Does it work or are all of these posts saying its works just repeating what they have read?
[I really dont think people should be posting answers in an FAQ if they are just repeating others words]
I have looked and looked and I can not find anything beyond the same reply: "OTG cable and dongle"
If someone can share a link/thread that shows actual success with a Bluetooth dongle and results that would be great!
Thanks!

It doesn't work, there's no driver support in any Kf ROM for any type of Bluetooth dongle.
These posters have all read it doesn't work, they just refuse to believe it.
I have heard that people have claimed success with dongle

People are getting confused here, and that's understandable.
Before Bluetooth was around and usable on PCs, you used to be able to buy keyboards with an adapter that would sit in the USB port. They would only work with that specific keyboard and nothing else. They were proprietary and use the standard USB drivers apparently - Which is why the guy who is using the dongle and keyboard in the video is able to do so.
Bluetooth on the other hand is totally different, and while you need the dongle, you also need the drivers. But I think we've come far enough that no one is going to write them.

He wants USB Tethering. I have noticed that it is actually broken on a LOT of JB ROMs but nobody uses it or bothers to test it so it goes unnoticed. You might wanna try ICS.... I don't use USB Tethering but I have seen the problem across multiple devices on JB (excluding official JB of course)
Oops thats what happens when replying to a post when half asleep. I didn't think people still use usb thethering. Anyway right now best to buy a usb wireless adapter and use the modified wireless tether for root users. Unless someone else knows of a way to usb tether that works on jb.

USB Tether app
I use pdanet for my USB tethering needs. I am currently on TBGS3 5.0 (GB08) and tested it. It works flawlessly... the only thing is you may have to pay for the full functionality, depending on your needs. The app itself is not on the market, but if you google it you will get to there main cite, where you can download the app for your computer and, utilizing the push to phone function, can install the app on your phone. Good luck, hope this helped. :good:

If you're getting an "account not authorized" message thats the carrier.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy SII (SGH-T989): flashed wrong kernel, no sign of boot

I accidentally flashed a siyah kernel (v 4.0.1) intended for the Internation Galaxy SII (i9100) onto my T-Mobile Galaxy SII (SGH-T989). For some reason i overlooked "FOR i9100" and now that i've flashed it there is no sign of life.
It was rooted with the AOKP Milestone Build 6 ROM flashed and working perfectly until i flashed the kernel
No vibration when holding the Power Button, Power&Vol+&Vol-, connecting a USB Jig, a USB wall charger, nor a regular USB. It isn't recognized in ODIN nor Kies when I try these different combinations of buttons and connections.
I have it connected to the USB wall charger and letting it sit for a while, still just a black screen.
Does anyone have a solution to this predicament?

I have but I see it costs around $50 to repair it that way, and T-Mobile charges me $25 to replace the entire phone. I want to do anything possible to fix the phone i have now with my own hands and if it turns out I can't then I'll just send it to T-Mobile. :/
