Which ROM to use 720p camera mod on HTC Desire?

I'd like also wifi-N enabled. Thanks

for wifi n use defrost, for 720p its not possible right now on desire..

What are you going to be doing that requires 802.11n wifi? And why do you want 720p recording when it just makes it look worse? There is a reason why HTC haven't enabled it!

720p recording might not be useful to be watched in the phone itself, but if we transfer it to be seen in PC or media center it will look better than the current one.
Also imho, it's ok if people asking about this because afaik HTC put this in their pre spec, but remove it when the Desire launch, also they promised to give us the update for this.

Wireless N has benefits other than speed, you know. Greater range, for example. And better speeds at the same range is a side effect of this. So yeah, while G may be 54Mbps when you're sitting on top of the router, when you're a room or two away, that can drop quite considerably. Wifi N means you might actually get 30 or 40Mbps from a couple of rooms away.
Besides, some of us use VNCs and the like, extra bandwidth would sure as hell help there.
As for the 720p camera mod, an improvement is still an improvement. Unfortunately, there is no 720p Camera mod for the Desire yet. The nexus one mod is still somewhat experimental and is NOT transferable to the Desire in any way yet. Once the Nexus One mod becomes a bit more mature, the author behind it has promised that he'll look into Froyo and Desire support.

The image is crisp, but the fps is too low. I'm hoping it will get better when we get the official 2.2 update, but for now 480p is what you want to use

well, i don't know. i took one a few days ago (i forget which rom now) and the 720p one was relatively ok (low fps - 20 ish according to mpc-hc), but no tearing.
old vids i took on stock 480p was a tear fest on movement and unusable. as i've mentioned before though, i'd rather have a higher fps recorded with 480p. would make for a far smoother playback experience

Here is an example of the 720p video.... You will have to change the youtube setting to 720p to see the full quallity. Notice how jumpy it is.. like someone else said my old N95 was better.

Yes, all 720p recorded looks CRAP. I'm just hoping the official 2.2 is improved or optimized. No offense to the chefs, but I have seen some aspects of pre release roms not living up to the official versions. i.e. seen some slow sluggish unstable hero 2.1 roms. the offical one is 100% perfect.
we know the hardware of the Desire whould easily be able to handle 720 recording so lets wait and see.

no one has released a video of official 720p recording, leaked roms mean nothing so we're just going to have to wait.

I previously had recorded choppy videos. Installed mcr, replaced my sd card with my new class 6 one and it went away.

Video recording on the Desire suffers drastically due to the lack of any stabilization. Extremely shaky unless you have it mounted perfectly still. I hope the final Desire release has some improvements over the leaked in this regard.

720p recording worthless? still pictures?

Im planning on getting the desire, and im REALLY interested in the 720p recording, but from the videos ive seen in youtube they look like like upscaled videos whats the bitrate ? 19-20 fps? also the audio is craptastic
What about the pictures? i HATE the pics taken by my milestone, are the desire pics any better?

The 720p are pretty good for me actually. When transferred to my PC, i can view it in fullscreen with HD quality.
Pictures taken without flash is great, but with flash...zzzz its terrible. Not sure bout others but it does suck for me.

720p video is still in progress and for Desire/ Nexus
with the new radio that came yesterday HTC have more
improve the quality of recording, Cyanogen and his team
working on raising the fps and video at autofocus ..
also be expected to improve the quality and the options

I can record it fine, with 20 fps, but I don't see much point in it, cause the lens doesn't give very high quality video that is really worth recording in HD

Yep,You should buy a new clas6 or clas10 card & install new radio
first instal new radio file from hire ,camacoder workin so smooth now

I used to think the video was garbage too, which is is from stock rom with stock radio. But upgraded everything, radio, modaco r8 and just tried it now (never thought it would make it better) and its fine.
Yeah, not on par with iPhone 4 HD recording, but still quite good. Its only going to get better with the modifications that are coming.

New to the android SDK

hello XDA world! i had a couple of questions i was hoping someone may help me with
running on MBP with 10.6.5, installed "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers
Version: Helios Service Release 1
Build id: 20100917-0705
clicked on the android.apk under tools and updated all. then went to eclipse and help-install new software.
am i ready? somewhere a read something about updating your path with .bash_profile? that part makes absolutely no sense to me at all. i know only a little terminal from ubuntu, may have figured it out just now, i went to eclipse preferences and added the path from the downloads folder.
ok so now am i ready?
cant anyone provide me with links to how to use this to make my own roms. or any good getting started links? id really appreciate it.
p.s. can someone explain framework to me, i want to know why ASOP roms cant have 4g or HDMI, or if its possible to make a hybrid rom like frost with all the sense removed while staying on the sense framework and not breaking it?
lastly, can i get my phone replaced because of false advertisement or limitations of hardware? i mean i have been wiping and flashing different roms testing them and no-matter what rom or setup i have i still get jitters and all around crappy GUI. next to my friends galaxy S my phone just seems defective and choppy, granted with the newer roms and fps unlocked, its still not close to as smooth as the galaxy S in terms of usability, is the hummingbird that much better or is it poorly written drivers for the snapdragon that makes it inferior?
if i took my phone up to best buy and had them look at it next to a galaxy s model what chances are there that i could replace it because of the overall inferior android experience? when i opened up pocked legends at the same time on both phones i was blown away that the galaxy s was indeed smooth while on my evo the gameplay was choppy like the game was not getting enough
FPS. although fps2d says it gets around 54, i have HDW 0003. any additional info would be helpful sorry that im so inquisitive today i just decided i wanted to know if my phone was the right choice for me.

I have one reserved to pick up in my local store now but not sure if its worth it when I got a Galaxy S2 and a iPhone 4S.
The screen is what interests me mostly but no idea how better that is compared to the two phones I have and heard about hardly any apps work on ICS yet e.g Facebook and so on.
Anyone who owns one would you say its worth it or stick to the two phones I have?

I cant talk for anyone else but myself in this regard. I have had my GN for about 24 hours now and have to say its the most amazing phone I have ever owned. Colours are rich and vibrant. Camera is fast as hell and yet still manages to focus. 5MP is more than enough for a camera, if I want to take professional shots then I will take my 16MP DSLR out but the majority of shots taken with phones are for social networking sites which resizes and compresses the image anyway so it doesnt matter. Speed is smooth as running a hot knife through butter and pretty much every program that I had running on Gingerbread works on this phone. The Tegra2 optimised games obviously wont work (apart from Guerilla Bob which works great) but I think I have installed about 60 apps and games since yesterday and only 3 or 4 havent worked. Facebook and Skype both work on my phone, even video calling works .
The main problems so far are satnavs (closes or stays black) and video players. I will try a few more satnavs and report back. Video players either stop running or wont install but that will soon be sorted so I have no worrys there.
I havent noticed any of the software problems that people are reporting but with a Nexus you HAVE TO REMEMBER that it is the first phone to have the latest software and its inevitable that there will be a few bugs to start with. Thats what updates are for and they will be ironed out soon enough. Developers will quickly update there apps for compatability with ICS and new apps will be made to enhance this beautiful screen.
If you have any more questions please ask away but I would definitely recommend getting it

Well as I have only had the phone a day I cant comment about battery life at all as its been on charge pretty much the whole time. I like to give new phones a good days charge to make sure its maximum benefit from the first charge. Will know more about that after about a week when it starts to settle down into normal life.
The screen IS simply amazing. Its beautifully sharp especially when playing back 720p movies and its got the same coating on as the iphone to resist finger prints so it doesnt get that dirty look as quickly as other phones.

Hi Mark, how is the GPS fix time and accuracy compared to, e.g., your HD2? I've heard Samsung quite suck at the GPS department. Does this barometer sensor really helps improving the GPS fix speed like Google developers explained? Thanks.

Google Nav couldn't get a lock first time I used it. turned it off and back on and it locked quite quickly then.

The screens awesome, much better than the retina display IMO as its bigger with equivalent resolution and much better blacks because of the SAMOLED. Having to post on my sister-in-laws iPad as my nephews playing shadowrun on it and I can't get him off it.

Firstly amazing, the screen is mind blowing playing HD videos for a phone. Secondly ICS is miles ahead of Gingerbread. Can't speak highly enough of it experience wise so far.

The Radio doesnt work it just comes up with a message (after the app is run) saying:

Many thanks for trying that for me.
I'm starting to get disappointed with the Nexus & I haven't bagged myself one yet.
No FM Radio & No capabilities to use one
No SD Card
Google Search On Every Screen - I Hate It & Never Use It
Looks like there are volume problems
