Ever since I manually installed 4.0.2, I need to fix permissions in CWM before installing any zip files (radios, namely).
Otherwise I get failed attempt messages.
Anyone else need to do this?

Are you sure you need to fix permissions? Have you tried mounting the system? Sometimes zips won't install on my phone until I mount the system

Fix permissions?

Yes, permissions will come back, they're set on init.rc.
https://www.codeaurora.org/gitweb/q...70ab1d0b88e4170504d645b5c685468dd8abb17;hb=jb
1 import init.tuna.usb.rc
2
3 on early-init
4 export EXTERNAL_STORAGE /storage/sdcard0
5 mkdir /storage 0050 system sdcard_r
6 mkdir /storage/sdcard0 0000 system system
7 # for backwards compatibility
8 symlink /storage/sdcard0 /sdcard
9 symlink /storage/sdcard0 /mnt/sdcard

As you can see, /sdcard/ and /mnt/sdcard are symlinks of /storage/sdcard0.

which twrp version are you using? i used cwm 6.x after getting issues on flashing JRO03C; didn't have issues accessing my device through adb. A user over @TWRP thread suggested updating to 2.2.x.
have you tried fully wiping the device with fastboot? including userdata? then reflashing cwm, booting to recovery directly from bootloader, push rom over with adb, and reflashing rom?

You shouldn't loose root by a factory reset, how did you install the rom if you flashed it the.apk can be taken out of the zip file using root explorer or an app like root explorer the apk you downloaded may not be compatible I'm going too upload my apk and ill post the link in a second you can't just click to install the apk has too be put into system/app folder

Don't factory reset, because it won't fix your problem. Factory reset doesn't touch the system partition, where the file was deleted from.
Make sure after you copy the file to the system partition, then set permissions for the file, otherwise it won't work. Using root explorer, set permissions so that they are the same as all the other apps in the apps folder.
Then reboot and that should fix your problem.
Thanks guys, I installed using rootexplorer and it worked!

I think status 7 means a problem with updater script. Maybe a bad download? Have you checked md5sum?

It mentioned that there was a issue with the sdcard I'm not able to post the picture of the screen at the moment . I have downloaded the 4.2.2 update zip several different times and it still won't work. I also wiped dalvick and cache and re installed the 4.1.1 zip and also the boot loader and radios but still I got the same status 7 error when trying to manually update 4.2.2.

no. you just need to fastboot flash the system.img from the stock image.
after the update, you would lose root anyways and would need to re-root. there is a handy android 101 guide efrant wrote you should look at.

Ok so the story goes like this:
I have stockorama V2
Stock kernel
I was trying to install busybox with busybox installer from the play store, but it said I didn't have root access
So I went to superSU and did the uninstall from the app itself
Rebooted, installed superSU from play store, it told me to update su binary. Then it failed.
when I try to open SuperSU it says that "I don't have su binary... ...that's a problem" and then closes the app
I think I lost root, but I was wondering is there anyway to get it back without a PC.
I still got twrp recovery so I can still flash stuff

You can flash SuperSU via recovery using the link in my signature. Stockorama includes busybox. Don't install it.

That's weird.
You did flash in recovery correct? Cwm or twrp? What version?
Not sure if its any different than Aerowinders, but you can try SuperSU linked in my sig. Or use Superuser, you should find both there.

Flash it in twrp 2.5 I think, did it 2 times... same thing
Its weird because I still get a toast (when I bootup) that lightflow gets superuser permisions; but when I open Titaniumbkp it gets stuck on a message "asking for root rights"
Btw superSU is as a system app so I can't uninstall before flashing the supersu.zip you guys gave me.

My zip came directly from Chainfire's website, I just changed the name.
You don't uninstall, just flash over the old one. And wipe the data for it also.

Nothing... I get the same message.
Flashed zip in twrp, wiped cache and dalvik, fix permissions, reboot.
Open supersu, and get the same message
I'm juat thinking reflash the rom the thing is I wanted to backup app+data with Titanium but no root. So any suggestion to a backup app that backups data without root...

Well, make a nandroid backup just in case. I dont suggest using it as it may just bring back the problem. But you will at least have everything backed up if you need it later.
Aside from that, you can use the recoveries built in file manager. Also you could boot into recovery and then try to ADB pull what ever you need.
But I would reflash your rom. You only need to wipe dalvik if it is the same rom you are using now. But if that doesnt fix it you will need to do a factory reset at that point.
