The attachment is a file and you need the proper app to open it. For instance, if it's a .DOC file you will need Documents To Go or something similar, as there is no app included with the operating system that can do that.
It was a video.

Right, there's no video player by default
You can try to download Diceplayer - it has HW acceleration.

My SGN opens "office" attachments just fine with preinstalled thinkfree
As for videos, some can be opened in gallery, but it looks like few formats are supported. Any other video player from the market should be just fine
Cheers!

OP Edited.
I'm not impressed, like the Android Music Player better. Also no fuss player with slightly cleaner interface.
looks like the banding problem on the bg gradient has been fixed. excellent.
now all we need is an equalizer...
Does anyone know how to force inline YouTube videos in the stock browser to open in the YouTube app instead of flash?
I hate the full screen flash view of YouTube. Everything is tiny and a little laggy.
If the YouTube video has a YouTube icon on the lower right of the video (some don't), then you can click on that and it will take you to the YouTube app.

thanks but I tried a bunch of webpages and none have that youtube icon. I've seen it before so I now what you are talking about.
example: http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/2/2916098/htc-one-s-review
It's surprising to me that using the stock browser to watch a google-owned youtube video in full screen results in such a disaster: it's virtually impossible to tap the button you want.
Try going to apps>browser>clear defaults then navigate to a video
in the browser. Does it let you choose a default for videos then? Only guess I have...

Follow-up Question: Download Resolution
As a follow-up question on Tubemate:
I've been using Tubemate for about 5 months now and absolutely love it. One thing I've noticed, though, is that sometimes when I download a video at full resolution, it doesn't play very well in any video player I have tried (stock TW Video Player, MXPlayer, VLC). The video will play for a certain length (sometimes 1/2 the video, sometimes 3/4 of it) and the video will freeze (sound continues) and then the video will restart from the beginning. If I skip ahead of the "freeze point" the video continues fine.
I know that Tubemate downloads the files in sections and stitches it together (think of old-school r.00 and r.01 files), so it sounds like the problem is that the particular section the "freeze point" is in was corrupt. If I download the video in a different format (or redownload it at the original resolution) it sometimes works better.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Tubemate downloads.

I've had this issue before.. It happens. Sometimes I go to the download folder and make sure its really at a 100%. But I figure its the video codecs on the phone.. sometimes they just hitch a part and its all downhill from there. But tubemate is by far the best. not only do you not have to deal with ads, it gives you options to select which video size you want which is always a plus

I believe its because our phones are 1280x720 and if you download at 1920x1080 then your phone can't play it cause it can't handle it. Its the same for me. As for everyone else.

Hi
I did a screen-recording while sketching in S-Note. A recording functions that's built-in. I was able to play them back within the S-note app.
But, I could not find the recorded video / smb files - however I did find static image sketches' smb files.
Any pointers would be great help.
Thanks in advance

YES i found out this too.
Now the question is Where are those videos saved!
Are you sure it saves as a video file ?, could the static images you found actually be animated gif image

No, they don't appear like an animated gif, If I open it using VLC, it only shows a thumbnailimage.jpg - where as the file is over 3MB.
Also - was not able to extract .smb file neatly. Any clue on that?
try changing the file extension to .gif and open it with any programme that you know is capable of playing animated gif images correctly. It may well be a video file of some type proprietary to samsung, which only samsung app will play - I can think of other video files that cannot be played by any other software other than the app that they are designed for.
I thought the on screen recording doesn't work yet.
Oh snap! I don't have a witty tapatalk signature!
It's available in snote only and not available as advertised. .

I have an unrooted AFTV and am looking for a media player that can see my Network Attached Storage, index it and show it to me in a library style format. I'm aware the Kodi can do this but was wondering if there is something a little more light weight ...an app designed specifically as a music library would be ideal.

There are a lot of media players out there that do what you need, but I suggest Wondershare Player. It can find all media on your server, and in my opinion is the best media player for android. One big thing it does is let you save the streaming url of network streams, which is an awesome feature. I keep a playercorefactory.xml with Wondershare as the default player so if I need a stream url I just move it to my SPMC data folder, click on the stream inside SPMC/Kodi, it plays on Wondershare and give me the option to see and keep the stream url. Now I can just delete the Playercorefactory.xml til I need it again. Plus it even has a browser.

Brilliant - thanks for the reply. Just to confirm the app in the link below is the one you're talking about? and that it can index all music like xbmc would?

Cheers patt2k. I looked at bubble upnp and really like it but there was a limit the size of playlist I can create using the free version. Because my ftv isn't rooted, I don't think I can install the purchased version and get it to validate with the play store. Do you know of a way to do this?
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-sideload-apps-onto-an-amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick-using-an-android-phone-or-tablet/[/
I would think if the free version works so would paid, but be aware they will show under settings/manage apps. If you can't upgrade within aftv you should be able to do it on pc or android then sideload. Can someone verify this?

It depends how the app validates license.. for example for my nova prime I just extracted both nova launcher and prime.
You have to give it a shot.. buy it on playstore or use your resources to get it ,extract/download apk whatever your way of getting things is,sideloaded it and see what happens,.
