Love that app. You can download in any version that the video allows and you can download as mp3

Follow-up Question: Download Resolution
As a follow-up question on Tubemate:
I've been using Tubemate for about 5 months now and absolutely love it. One thing I've noticed, though, is that sometimes when I download a video at full resolution, it doesn't play very well in any video player I have tried (stock TW Video Player, MXPlayer, VLC). The video will play for a certain length (sometimes 1/2 the video, sometimes 3/4 of it) and the video will freeze (sound continues) and then the video will restart from the beginning. If I skip ahead of the "freeze point" the video continues fine.
I know that Tubemate downloads the files in sections and stitches it together (think of old-school r.00 and r.01 files), so it sounds like the problem is that the particular section the "freeze point" is in was corrupt. If I download the video in a different format (or redownload it at the original resolution) it sometimes works better.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Tubemate downloads.

I've had this issue before.. It happens. Sometimes I go to the download folder and make sure its really at a 100%. But I figure its the video codecs on the phone.. sometimes they just hitch a part and its all downhill from there. But tubemate is by far the best. not only do you not have to deal with ads, it gives you options to select which video size you want which is always a plus

I believe its because our phones are 1280x720 and if you download at 1920x1080 then your phone can't play it cause it can't handle it. Its the same for me. As for everyone else.

Just want to start off by saying that this phone is amazing besides the LOS. Well back on topic.
I have the updated version of youtube that was provided here on the forum. I downloaded it and installed. Ever since i installed it i noticed that i can play a YouTube video and turn off the screen and the video will continue playing. Now i can listen to some music that have remixes but are not available to download using the app.
What is yall's opinion on that. Good or bad?
Sidenote: i use wifi

I believe this is a feature because I was recording a video yesterday and when I did a playback the sound was still going while the screen was black.... Maybe its just to save backlight battery life
I would say its a bug. Sometimes when I am watching a flash video on the web browser and I exit the browser (and I mean even kill the browser in the task manager) the video audio will play until the end of the video. I think they've got bigger fish to fry with this LOS, but after that's solved, I intend to bring this one up.
I am on CM9 Beta 1 and when I try on any browser to download a music or video file (no matter what site) it only gives me the option to play the video or music clip in the stock video player or music player. I ran into this problem once before and just found and deleted the video player and music player but when I tried to do that this time I could not find the video or music player anywhere in the root explorer. I can't even be sure that deleting them will sove my problem. I've asked before but no one seems to understand what I mean. I hope i've made it completely clear what the problem is. My question is, can anyone help me figure out how to either disable the players or find a way around them to be able to download music and videos on my phone again? Thank you in advance
Sounds like you went to download some music or video in the past, and selected the "do this by default" option set on your browser, you may want to clear data on the browser, and whatever app it opens when you try to download. That should help.

I've tried that too. No matter what browser I use the same thing happens. and as for the video and music player. They're not even in the app list. it's like they're ghost apps! lol but seriously thank you for the suggestion though
I reinstalled everything and i'm able to download music and files again. Video is still only giving me the option to watch and not download. it wouldn't be an issue but i used to like downloading and then watching videos instead of having it buffering every 3 seconds.
Does anyone know how to force inline YouTube videos in the stock browser to open in the YouTube app instead of flash?
I hate the full screen flash view of YouTube. Everything is tiny and a little laggy.
If the YouTube video has a YouTube icon on the lower right of the video (some don't), then you can click on that and it will take you to the YouTube app.

thanks but I tried a bunch of webpages and none have that youtube icon. I've seen it before so I now what you are talking about.

It's surprising to me that using the stock browser to watch a google-owned youtube video in full screen results in such a disaster: it's virtually impossible to tap the button you want.
Try going to apps>browser>clear defaults then navigate to a video
in the browser. Does it let you choose a default for videos then? Only guess I have...

I still get that menu when I click on a youtube link. The problem is with the inline players that show up with flash.
No solution to this?
Is this app even pushing 720p?? It looks more like the HQ you get on 3G instead of the HD on WiFi.
I have the WiFi only N7.

To be honest I don't think the youtube app has ever pushed proper 720p let alone 1080p when the HD option was checked.
If you want, you can use a modded version of the old youtube app that allows you to select 720p/1080p and has other tweaks such as screen off playback and the ability to download the videos.
Search google for "youtube modded apk" and it should be the first link from XDA. (I can't post links yet)
As far as I know the only functionality you lose is the floating window thing but personally I don't really see the use in that myself.
Check this video out! I thought it looked great!

Not just the playback but the whole app are so blown up, you can only see 2 huge thumbnails at a time
The new Youtube app messes up the video quality. You can fix it by downgrading (uninstall updates in app info).

I know there are several threads and old blog posts from previous years about the same topic but most of the apps are completely outdated and/or no longer working. I used to use Vidmate to download youtube videos but after I switched to Note 10+ for some reason is not working, I just no longer see the download button. I tried uninstalling and installing again, installing older versions, etc. and it's not working. So wanted to see if there is anything better in 2019 but all I can find is very old threads with the same tubemate, instube, snaptube, keepvid, videoder, vidmate, etc. that they all barely work.
What app do you use now to download YouTube videos? Another good alternative is adding ss on the youtube link between the dot and the "y" from youtube, the downloads are fast but very annoying copying each link, typing the ss, moving the cursor, etc.
Is there anything more functional now in 2019? Ideally I would love an app that would let you login and download playlist of several videos like 20 videos at a time. Any suggestions?
In all honesty, Tubemate still works fine... I'm using version 3.2.8...
Never had an issue with it...
A BIG BIG thank you to BrownBoy8872 who suggested Ymusic on reddit, that was EXACTLY what I was looking for:
Can login into my YouTube account
Can download full playlist and select resolution beforehand for all videos
Downloads are extremely fast just downloaded a playlists of 62 videos 720p in no time, everything downloads in seconds while other apps take minutes
Ads, but not adware like vidmate that keeps sending intrusive notifications if you don't force close/greenify it it after use
Excellent clean design, it even has the option to remove ads and support the developer which I just did
This really feels like an Android Pie/Android 10 app while all other apps to download videos feel like 1998 symbian apps lol

Thanks, any reason why this would be superior to Ytube? Seems decent but pretty limited without the donation package and I already got the donation package of Ytube but I'm extremely happy with Ytube it's what I've been looking for for years

yes I am able to download the videos but the app is not a video player you have to selecf the right format while downloading and then I use MX Player Pro to reproduce them
Alright the dev reached out to me. At the top right next to the sleep timer there is a video camera icon. You tap this to enable video. I thought this was for uploading video like it is on the YouTube and vanced apps. I left it grayed out and this is why i didnt see video, even after I downloaded the video only links.
Anyway all sorted out.
