Hello guys i am new on xda, and i wanted to ask you about the absence of fm radio app on galaxy nexus, cause i have searched through the net and i have seen that the nexus supports fm radio. Also i have read a topic on xda about this but the guy that was trying to make an fm radio app stopped the development. So my question is, does nexus really support radio or ics doesnt wanted to be there?

I use the FM Radio a lot and it is a cool feature for a phone and as a Galaxy Nexus owner, we're always striving for additional features and a way to make our phone better.
I have not been able to find a defenitive answer. It looks like a couple of members are working on it, but it's not looking good that there is a fm chip inside the phone.
I will try ti find the radio apk from the gs2 ics rom and try to modify it and check if it will work but i am not sure about the results, since i am now learning the andriod sdk...

there is fm radio chip in GN, but it is not connected
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314191&page=6
Use something like TuneIn Radio.

the sprint model number is SPH-P100
Looks great - but what does it mean for the average joe like me?
It means that in the coming days there is a very high probability we will start seeing custom ROMs for the Tab
Android Kernel and Framework code...all here with subtle drivers and utilities variations depending on the specifics of some regions of the world. Nice. No drivers for the Broadcom BCM4319 FM Radio module though... (yeah, I'd love to see an FM-Radio app running on the Tab )

What? I'm really tired at the moment..but are you saying that the tab has hardware radio but No drivers for it? Every tab version has a radio module??

Same chip that the Nexus One uses which has had software ported to use the FM feature. In theory that same code could possibly be used to gain FM access on the Tab.
Do NOT expect to ever be able to use is as an FM transmitter though (handsfree over FM etc)
This source is great news though, a custom rooted firmware on the tab would be fantastic.

Why ? XDA devs are already looking into it apparently, and some code recently surfaced on GitHub with Bluetooth/radio capabilities

Surely without an amplifier it'd only have a range of a few inches at most? If it could piggyback off the on-chip bluetooth/wifi amp then it could work, I'd be guessing it'd knock out bluetooth/wifi while you were using it though. Sounds intriguing though, I'll have a look at it.

It'd be fantastic if someone could enable FM radio on the radio, I don't think that knocking out the bluetooth would be a prob. The wifi though..hmm..maybe that'd be a prob.
Awesome! This is excellent news!

Hey folks,
my Dad just recently got himself a brad new Desire HD and thinks about using it as a regular phone over his iPhone 4.
The thing is: His car radio uses the rSAP protocol to allow hands-free calling within the car and reading SIM contacts and stuff.
Since almost all Android Devices (except for Samsung) have no rSAP support, is there a small possibility to get this stuff working for our Desire HD? I know its possible from the hardware side, but there arent proper drivers included into the Android Software itself. Only Samsung seems to have achieved a rSAP compatibility and functionality.
Any info on that?

Thanks for the reminder Yeah, I know that site. Its just that this approach doesnt work well with the DHD at the moment.
The Project seems very mature, tho, and very promising. Its good to know that he is trying to get that protocol compatible with our devices. Very nice
Only thing missing from Android devices recently is more compatibility with BT devices using different profiles.
For instance I have a FIAT Bravo car with BT head unit built in. It pairs with the car and makes and receives calls with no issue. However it fails to read text messages due to lack of the MAP profile.
I did some searching and it seems some have stated this code thread has worked.

I just wondered whether any bright spark could help some of us lowly peons and bring this functionality to an already great device?
Cheers in anticipation.

Does any JB ROM have this MAP profile? I tried CM 9.1 and the MAP profile worked but on CM 10.1 this doesn't work.
Android 4.1 ROMs like CM10 should support map. It's not an AOSP feature but many custom ROMs have it.

CM has been tried
So if you could name some of those many other custom roms that would be great
Yesterday on slashdot I stumbled upon an item of (potentially) considerable interest: it would seem some clever folks have succeeded in getting monitor mode to work on Android devices using certain broadcom based WiFi chipsets, including the bcm4330... They compiled working apks for the SGS II and we use the same wifi chip, so it should work. They also hosted the source on a googlecode project. SO, in theory (if I understand things correctly) all we should need is for someone with a working AOSP build environment for our phone set up to compile the code. I'm new to the dev scene and therefore highly unqualified lol, but I'm sure there are a handful of experienced devs out there with the knowhow to get this up and running!
Here's the link: http://bcmon.blogspot.com/
And the source: http://code.google.com/p/bcmon/source/checkout
Thx for this checking it out now!
Looks interesting, and for SGS II, let's see where it goes...

its more than possible only a matter of time before a whole set in apk comes out
I believe the Wi-Fi chip in the Galaxy S3 is actually an updated model than the ones used in the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S2. It would require some tweaks for our phones.
Yes ur right but who can build it for me ? Who???

Hey guys! So I've run I to an issue streaming over Bluetooth... NONE of my tack I formation shows.. I've seen and talked to numerous people who have my same pioneer touch screen stock head unit who are able to steam album art/track info to the HU. I've seen and iPhone 4s do this as well as a Galaxy s 4. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I'm running the latest stable cm10.1 ROM. Any pointers?
Thanks guys

Android 4.x doesn't support media access protocol (MAP). You'll have to hope a developer for CM can implement it, downgrade to cm 10 (someone added it, but it doesn't work in cm10.1), or wait for Google to properly implement Bluetooth.

this.
Well in that case, next release should bring AVRCP 1.3 support, but not sure if to GN, or we only won't get BLE.

I don't think so. Everything I've read about features not working over Bluetooth with car features has pointed to MAP (reading of text messages, track info, etc). For all I know, AVRCP may be part of MAP .
OP, the issue with CM 10.1 has been fixed now that a dev looked into it. Should appear in nightlies soon if it hasn't already. There are multiple reports of it working on various cars now.

I see, I remembered about AVRCP because I watched the BT4.0 session from IO2013 where the engineer said something about track info and lack of AVRCP. But I'm not much into the BT area, so I guess that isn't the whole deal. Glad to see it working for you then, hope the same happens with the next Android release :]
