Hey folks,
my Dad just recently got himself a brad new Desire HD and thinks about using it as a regular phone over his iPhone 4.
The thing is: His car radio uses the rSAP protocol to allow hands-free calling within the car and reading SIM contacts and stuff.
Since almost all Android Devices (except for Samsung) have no rSAP support, is there a small possibility to get this stuff working for our Desire HD? I know its possible from the hardware side, but there arent proper drivers included into the Android Software itself. Only Samsung seems to have achieved a rSAP compatibility and functionality.
Any info on that?

Thanks for the reminder Yeah, I know that site. Its just that this approach doesnt work well with the DHD at the moment.
The Project seems very mature, tho, and very promising. Its good to know that he is trying to get that protocol compatible with our devices. Very nice

Hi everybody,
The HTC triumph who should be the same phone as the HTC desire will be release in a few week I was wondering if i update the Rom radio of my desire with one in the HTC triumph, is it allow me to have access to 3g . Indeed the only difference between the 2 phone are the 3g frequencies.
Thanks for your answers.

first of all i highly doubt it, porting radios over sounds like brick heaven to me, more importantly why on earth would you want to do that?
Hi,
I used to live in France and I bought a HTC Desire there.
I moved to canada and the my phone works well except I can only use Edge. I checked the specs and I saw the frequencies are different between french operators and canadian ones. (I also have a HTC Kaiser who works well on the 2 networks, I do not understand why....)
So I am wondering if there is any solution to make HTC Desire working with 3g here or am I stuck with Edge ? It is not a big problem but it is a little bit slow.
Thanks for your help
I think you're talking about 850mhz vs 900mhz? If so, (and someone correct me if I'm wrong here) it's a matter of hardware, so there's really nothing you can do about it. :/

Best to install the latest Radio Update from the Android Development section and see if that is any better, flashing the Radio from a different ROM IS a fast route to bricking

Yes it exactly my problem.
So I will try latest Rom as you suggest. I hoped this was a matter of drivers not hardware

Hi all, to those that use the skygo app. It is unsupported atm. Just as I got the hang of using a UK VPN to get if working on my sg2 as well
Hopefully this can be sorted soon by our hard working devs when they get into full swing

Yeah I wouldn't get too excited about having SkyGo working on your One X just yet, considering barely any places even say its released and this is Sky we are dealing with..
Wouldn't the one from the Samsung galaxy nexus work?

This is really sad as one of the reasons I upgraded my contract for this phone is so I could watch my Sky F1 when I'm out and about. Guess i'm screwed now.

Very true. I don't understand why they couldn't release software that is compatible with all gingerbread phones in the first place... But I have no knowledge of the ins and outs

Seems to install ok, but just sticks at loading when i tap watch.
Have temp unrooted the rom using supersu, but maybe it's still seeing the SU?
Anyone tried on a non-rooted device?

Just tested with my stock rom and everything works good until it reaches the part where I click watch and then it just gets stuck at Loading and then after about 30 seconds it restarts the Skygo app.
This is using the the provided on the link on page 1
Sky have always been incredibly paranoid about data encryption, and they have a lot riding on it with the actual owners of the content they provide. Limiting support to a handful of Gingerbread-based phones that are big sellers (S2, Desire, etc) and trying their hardest to prevent it running on any rooted Android device ensures they won't end up providing free Sky Sports to Orange customers who stick the APK on a rooted Google TV and show football in a pub - or worse, manage to decrypt the stream and throw access open to the wider world.
It sucks, but I can understand the slow rollout. When ICS numbers get above the current 3%, and when the One X proves to be a big seller over the next few months, I'm sure we'll be supported.
Just on this a thought I had is sky will never release it for one x.reason being they all ready block it working with HDMI out,but I don't see how they could block WiFi out to the media link so far that reason is be suprised if they updated it for the one x

Just a heads up, official SkyGo app for HTC One X now available on play store. As detailed on Techradar.com.

Hi,
Im just wondering, is it possible to port Firefox OS to Desire? (As it's HTML, I guess it will be easy to port) Its UI is very nice, so if someone can port it, I will really appreciate it!

Looks like pretty good performance to me, on a device similar to the Desire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QnIskIc3EY
I'd really love to see this ported to our phone.
I have bought the one x because I thought it had bluetooth 4.0 but as it turns out there is no implementation for bluetooth 4.0 on android by google and htc doesn't have a stable working api either making the bluetooth 4.0 radio on my phone useless. Should HTC be allowed to sell this phone as a bluetooth 4.0 device without a working implementation for bluetooth 4.0? I feel cheated
Have you tested this?

No but i pre-ordered a cookoo watch which has bluetooth 4.0
The makers of the watch said they thought it would be possible to make use of bluetooth 4.0 radio's on android devices because they were being sold with this spec. But they had to give up on this idea. They send a letter to the android backers with a nice timeline on bluetooth 4.0 and android:

Just says that 4.2 switches from BlueZ to Broadcom BT stacks. Pity, as I like BlueZ http://www.bluez.org/
Our One X does indeed have 4.0 and supports the low profile through the BlueZ linux stack. It just looks like Cookoo doesn't want to support two BT stacks with their software and will wait until more phones have 4.2.

Bluetooth low energy isn't supported at all on Android 4.2 and they tried to get bluetooth low energy working with the BlueZ stack but they failed. Its not a question of will on the part of cookoo, its just that they can't. There are currently no bluetooth 4.0 gadgets that work with the HTC One X and the same goes for the SGS3. Google also sells phones with a bluetooth 4.0 capable chip but they don't put that in the specs list because they don't have an implementation for bluetooth 4.0.
If there is a stable API for bluetooth low energy on HTC One X i am sure the cookoo team is very interested.
One X doesn't even use 4.2.

Hello, I will like to know if there is any android 4.4.x rom for the xperia S/SL that has the HDMI output working as well both cameras, until now I had tried Paranoid android beta 4 and Carbon the first one works flawless but has no HDMI and the second one is given me a blurry and bad signal trough the HDMI output.
Before keep installing a reinstalling roms I will like to hear any advice about any stable 4.4.X rom out there or at least any rom with HD camera recording, 3d graphic and HDMI output working.
Thank you.
We are on the same page bro. Been looking for that too.
And maybe any rom that has the radio drivers installed. cant believe now that i don hav that i actually want to use it
HDMI and FM radio, as well as many other features depend on the chipset OEM (Qualcomm) drivers. They offer support up to some Android version (last stock JB?), but AFAIK KitKat is not and will never be supported. They could also open the source code/spec for the drivers, which will enable the community to fix those issues, but I seriously doubt they will even consider it.

Sad but hey the google nexus 5 also has a snapdragon inside, that means there will be no future support for the nexus 5? I doubt that, there must be a way to get us those drivers.
Can I ask why the drivers are so important?? Why they cant be ported or rewritten by some dev? Like the drivers on linux, all are free and open, wtirren by devs and users. Is it impossible to write a driver for a snapdragon?
Sorry for my questions, im a noob

It is not impossible.
What devs COULD do is reverse engineer the drivers from 4.1.2 to 4.4 or whatever, but that would be REALLY hard, and take a LOT of time and tries. It simply does not worth the process.
But I think HDMI and FM Radio should come from Sony, not Qualcomm, not sure.

well, so there wasour hope ;d. I bet sony already forgot that they ever made Xperia S... Thay are making so many phones now... thats just crazy, if some1 buy flagship sony just after 2-3 months he had 2nd best of their models. thats insane. They havent even made kitkat for most of their current "flagships" yet. Xperia s [*].
BTW. Love u xda Devs, you are a little star that gives us hope to use nice phone even more efficient and cool than before .
PS. God i hate that 10post req for responding in dev-s threads... i have so many questions about my pureslim kitkat ;/.
I am tempted into sell my phone to buy a new one, but is so sad because I think Xperias in general have a pretty good hardware, my next phone will be a nexus or who knows... Maybe I will end up selling my soul to Apple at least they have longer support for any older phone...
The thing is I love to hack my phones that's why I got an Android in first place.
