[Q] Firefox OS port? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Im just wondering, is it possible to port Firefox OS to Desire? (As it's HTML, I guess it will be easy to port) Its UI is very nice, so if someone can port it, I will really appreciate it!

its already successfully ported to sgs2 anyway, so there is a possibility desire can do it. we still have a lot of great devs.

Looks like pretty good performance to me, on a device similar to the Desire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QnIskIc3EY
I'd really love to see this ported to our phone.

I hope it will come, a friend allready has it on his desire AND he is working with a few others on the german translation.
Atm MIUI is only HDPI. So there is much work to get MDPI (for G1/MT3G/Magic) and LDPI (for Wildfire/Tattoo) support.

I think they will have the same Problems with a 2.2 Version of this ROM as they have with the 2.2 Versions from Wildpuzzle and Open.Fire ROM .. It will be nice if they get it working, but i dont think so..
It's so cool !
I hope to get it on my Wildfire !!!
It won't happen, EVER
Ill have a port of cm 6.1 miui themed if you want that? Ok not fully miui but its something lol

It's not possible because it needs ARMv7 and it's closed source too, on top of all the LCD density stuff as well. It's crap anyway.

[Q] Windows Phone 7 ROM ported to the Inspire/DHD?

Hey guys,
I was looking over at Windows Phone 7 the other day and I noticed that the UI looks really cool! I don't want to buy a windows phone, but I also found out that the HTC HD2 can dual boot windows mobile and android at the same time. THe HD2 also has a snapdragon, so would it possible to port it over to the Inspire/DHD? Im not sure if this is possible, but I wish i could get the UI, cuz it looks really cool! Thanks!
I asked the same question a while back. Basically, WP7 is a closed source UI. Porting it to DHD or any other phone for that matter would be a breach of tos blah blah blah... Just search and you'll find all about it.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Hmm ok thanks for the reply. Would it be possible to make a ROM that looks like it? Not necessarily a port?
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using XDA App
Nope, unless you want your ass sued by windows...
If you know how to pull it off I guess you could make one just for your self but other then that nothing...

Firefox OS

Mozilla just released nightlies for their boot2gecko operating system http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/b2g/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/ would any of the amazing developers on the One X forum be able to port it?
sounds interesting, would love to test once it's ported over to our lovely phone.

It's a totally different OS. No chance would we ever see it on our One X. It's like asking for a Rom with WinMo on it - never going to happen!
What about with emulators?
Ummmm are you sure

Really, So what obsticles does the One X face it can't overcome that SGS2 could? As the earlier version of Firefox OS, Boot2geko was ported over to the SGS2 (and a few others android phones as well I believe)
Forgive my ignorance but why????

eagerly waiting to try this one out..someday?
still waiting for this one
i gathered this is opensourced(coming from mozilla), so the same people who ports aosp to htconeX can really do their magic on this one.
or maybe thats just wishful thinking of me.

Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard... Look at the HD2. Developers here are capable of doing anything.

I believe this is because the software of the HD2 is completely open. This enables developers to port android, meego, windows phone, and recently even Windows RT on it.
Developers can only do so much is the source isn't fully open.

HD2 has S-Off, which means it's possible to change every partition, including how the OS boots. In case you haven't noticed, we don't have access to all of our partitions because we don't have S-Off. Given that everybody apart from you is so dumb, can you tell us how to boot arbitrary OSs?

Please don't forget that HOX is nvidia tegra 3 device, and it is too hard to port drivers to it, don't forget that ubuntu touch didn't even fully worked on box devices.

Point is it did work, at leaste in part.
If there was a team of devs on it, it could happen problem is the amount of effort it would take.

It just booted with plenty of bugs and fcs, and all beta releases of ubuntu touch are discontinued, and there is a reason for that.

But interesting more than Firefox OS
It might be possible but it would need to much hard work and effort to do so, since we are not only S-ON but Tegra 3, to witch it's very hard to port to...
It's just wouldn't pay off, as there might be like 100 people, like you, who would even consider installing Firefox OS OR any other non-android OS, since it is hard to do to a normal user as well...

Past Devs already confirmed it would be useless even trying for XYZ reasons. I don't see what benefits we could get from it.
Now what I would like to see for Wildfire is a working sense3 port.
But tbh I'm just happy to see people are still using the Phone and people such as you are still Deving & theming

I'll try look into sense 3, i know people been waiting a while for the sense 3.5
So i'll try to make one, also we may need a new kernal for the sense 3.5, because the current is in ok condition, but not stabler enough :/
Going to see if i can fix all the issues myself :good:
hmmm, sense 3,5 won't work good. maybe try to play around sense 2.1 first (;

It won't work good, because almost all the apks in the ROM are not ldpi and not compatible with the device, although i'm looking into this further more in development.
I'll try to compile sources from different devices with sense 3.5 which have some ldpi compatible features
