Anyone knows why the screen on - off animations like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=815335 won't show on cm 7.1.0.1 for wildfire? I've tried setting them on-off reboot etc but no change at all. Any clue anyone?
It's an extremely random effect. If having it is so important, consider upgrading to the latest nightlies, where they are much more consistent (Still not 100%) than the stable.
I went to a local store yesterday and the Nexus S had it, no root. Is there incompatibility or something with the WF
Actually, i accidentally managed to make it work after installing a theme called "rover" (if i remember well), but it screwed up fonts and icon sizes cause i think its designed for desire, and i had to reflash cm7 to solve it.

It is compatible with buzz, but i guess something is messed up with the cm7 stable package.

There must be a way making it a flashable zip, with zipthemer maybe, but i need the lockscreen animation file to do it. Maybe i'll check the cyanogen forums.

Tried that too but it won't work either.

Strange, I always manage to get it working after 1-2 reboots (On Nightly #250 and Erwin's local build). (Verified - Since I keep changing SIM cards between my SGS2 and Wildfire pretty regularly)
Hmm.. maybe i'll give it another shot tomorrow then. You managed that only by rebooting? Not changing anything in the settings?

Take out the battery. Put it back in and start your phone again. If the same happens repeat the battery pull but this time hold down on the volume bar and THEN press the power button to restart your phone. After it starts up in bootloader select recovery by moving the volume bar and then hit the power button again. This will bring you back to recovery where you can flash the rom again or restore your backup.

Note: Start @ 3:15. In the video clockwork mod is black/green but that's just because its an older version, the newer version is black/orange. All the steps are still the same though.

Also keep in mind that some roms can take up to 5 minutes to load the first time. Normally (but definetely NOT always) as long as it doesn't keep reloading the boot animation, everything is fine - the rom is building your file system on your first boot.

Also what are the benefits of switching kernels? And which do you all recommend?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
if you took the time to read about kernels and what they are you would know.
but, i'm in a good mood today:
Kernels govern your cpu speed and how to scale it. Some are locked to a certain frequency set and some are made adjustable, but you have to get an app that interacts with the kernel otherwise it runs at whatever it is preset to.
SetCPU is the one I used, but I know there are plenty out there that others would recommend and swear by in a heartbeat.

I'm using Virtuous rom 1.02 with the advanced kernel. I clocked mine at 475-1100mhz with a low battery profile switch at 275-887 (i think).
Check your rom specific kernel to make sure it runs best for your rom. The rest is personal preference.

*sigh* Give a man a fish and he will eat all day. Teach a man to fish and he will drink beer all day.
Since you're on CyanogenMod, I recommend Pershoot's kernel (available through ROM Manager). If you're feeling bold, download Flippy's latest kernel. Since I'm running the CM-based PyroMod, Pershoot's kernel is built in.
Everytime i flash a rom do i need to flash clockwork mod recovery?

I suggest you check out the stickies sections that has links to a bunch of very well written guides that answer all your questions. the responses you get here are going to turn ugly very fast.

If you open clockwork and your current recover is the same as newest version then there is no need to reflash recovery. The only reason to reflash clockwork is if there is a newer version out.

So after rooting my girlfriends g2 and installing cyanogen mod and coredroid mod the phone sometimes turns off.when my girlfriend turns on the power button it just shows the HTC screen and load from thr beginning as if you've just turned on the phone.I hear the it might be cause she gets no signal in school or something about the CPU speed....i'm not really sure but all I know is she never had it before I rooted her phone. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm confused. What do you mean by you installed both Cyanogen mod and CoreDroid mod.
it has to do with the cpu settings
I´m having the exact same issue after installing the cyongenmod 4.2. Please how to chage cpu settings?
Cyanogen 4.2..? Pardon me, but that's a typo correct? Either way off the top of my head the only app that controls CPU and is free is rom toolbox, look for it on market

If you're on a fresh install of CM, thr cpu speed isn't the issue; CM defaults to an overclocked speed.

Hi, I used to use ARHD 6.x.x and I noticed that I could not locate my home WiFi (always out of range, even when beside the router). At the time I thoyght it may be a router issue, until I tried the IceColdSandwich Rom, which found my WiFi with no problems, and seemed to have an amazing range. I just went back to ARHD 7.0.0 (I'm a big sense fan ) and once again I cannot find my home WiFi (just my home network, not any others), does anyone have a possible solution/fix for my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Note: I've tried all the "WiFi fixes" on the market, none have helped

Full wipe and new flash?!
I've tried that before with no luck :/ even went to the point of redownloading the rom

Try using another kernel?
are there any you can recommend? I've tried a few but none seemed to resolve the issue

If possible use the kernel from rom that worked. If think it's lordmod kernel. Im using it.
the kernel I am using is an ICS kernel, but I'll try using the Lord mod sense kernel (if I can find it)

AOSP kernel will not work on Sense ROMs. Or it wilk but you'll giant issues with it, like your wifi or data and system apps force closing. You can browse the dev section to get a sense kernel.

Hi if u use the rcmix v4.0 ROM it is just like sense with tweeks.it's a great rom nd I have never had any problems with the wifi nd it is by far the best rom for desire hd in my opinion.and in the tweaks u can change the kernel aswel.

I've never tried it, but I'll give it a go
edit: I don't think it's a kernel issue now, and it may not be the rom either, I tried the latest official blackice rom, and i couldn't find my home wireless network, but I found others. it's very confusing as it has always worked perfectly fine before
edit 2: okay so I pretty much cycled through every available rom for dhd and the only ones that had wifi working were the ICS ones (unless specifically stated that wifi was not working). gingerbread seems to hate my home wifi now for some reason. anybody have any ideas why?

sorry for the double post, just wanted to bump it and let you all know that the problem has been solved the channel on ny router (which was set to auto) was on channel 12, seemingly undetectable by by gingerbread but detectable by ics, so I just changed it to a compatible channel thanks for all the help though!

Hi,
is it necessary to do a full wipe before upgrading to the latest sandvold even if i have a previous release?
in the aroma installer which a2sd/tweaks do you choose for better perfomances?
Thanks
Since there is no answer, I tried this myself.
Had 0.15.0.1 installed and working well, and did an install of 0.16.1 over the top.
All seems to be working, getting a couple freezes (not enough to worry about though), which I didn't have on 0.15.1, but it could just be bugs, or could be I'm doing something I wasn't on the previous version.
Using it for daily, pretty happy at the moment.
And I left the top a2sd selected, not sure if it would like me changing it after I already had apps moved with the one script.
Thank you for the answer

Just as an FYI, I went back to 15.0.1 yesterday, I was getting some weird stuff happening, a fair few crashes, and some weird screen flickering. Might stick at 15.0.1 for awhile, see how it goes.
I'd avoid 0.16.1 for now. Stick to 0.15 as it seems to be more stable.
I was using 0.16.1 really buggy I also came from 0.15.1 I'm now
Using nikez 1.0.1b2 it is a much more stable from than both of them. I have also installed Google now thanks mikey6 works perfectly

So I'm having this problem for a while now. Sometimes my phone locks up when I'm trying to install a new app. The only thing I can do when it happens is to hard reset the device. It seems to be happening mostly on relatively large applications (~30mb and up).
Initially I thought that maybe my sd-card is dying so I tried to unmount it, but it happened again on the second app that I tried to install.
Any ideas on what may cause this?
Give more details like what rom and kernel you're using.
I'm on CM 10.1, default kernel.

Which cm10.1 rom? And what date is the rom build?
I'm on official nightlies. Currently 3/20, but it also happened on the latest monthly.
Since no one reported this kind problem, I don't think it's a bug.
