So after rooting my girlfriends g2 and installing cyanogen mod and coredroid mod the phone sometimes turns off.when my girlfriend turns on the power button it just shows the HTC screen and load from thr beginning as if you've just turned on the phone.I hear the it might be cause she gets no signal in school or something about the CPU speed....i'm not really sure but all I know is she never had it before I rooted her phone. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm confused. What do you mean by you installed both Cyanogen mod and CoreDroid mod.
it has to do with the cpu settings
I´m having the exact same issue after installing the cyongenmod 4.2. Please how to chage cpu settings?
Cyanogen 4.2..? Pardon me, but that's a typo correct? Either way off the top of my head the only app that controls CPU and is free is rom toolbox, look for it on market

If you're on a fresh install of CM, thr cpu speed isn't the issue; CM defaults to an overclocked speed.

Every once in a while when I wake my phone up, the clock speed stays at what it gets set to when the screen is off. The profiles seem to not work at this point until I reboot. I'm running stable cyanogenmod. Is there any way to remedy this?

No. I did have that problem on my G1 but on this phone when it says it's running at 300 Mhz, it is. Apps open slower, linpack is low. It's definitely getting stuck somwhere.

I wkuld recomend auto detecting speeds to make sure its got the right info for your kernel. Then i would reboot the phone. Also try turning the widget off. If your still stuck uninstall setcpu and start frrom scratch. I would reflash my kernel at this point as well.

Every now and again (6 times yesterday) I get soft reboots (back to bootanimation) on my Device. (While running almost every ROM, although I am running CM7 RC1 at the moment)
The next time it happens, what would be the best thing to look at? LogCat or kmsg?
I would like to figure out if it is the ROM or a rouge (crashing) app that is causing the problem?
If there is anymore info that would help, please let me know?
Thanks
Stew
Anyone??
I just had another one when my phone started to ring!
It rang once and BOOM back to bootanimation!

I am pretty sure that it has done it on every rom I have tried (including 2.1, stock sense), this is what is making me think it is a rouge app.

I have done in the past. But at the moment I am using cyanogenmod settings to manage the cpu (min 245 max 998) and using stock cyanogenmod RC1 kernel. Using ondemand governer at the moment too.
It has happened while using other Kernels too though.
Thanks

You should know that I started to have these soft boots a few weeks ago on my unbranded, unrooted, un-anything Desire. it has all the available updates. I have not changed anything major in it, just installed programs, but nothing like a task manager or other utility of this sort. Still, I get reboots a couple of times a week, sometimes when I am calling someone, or when someone calls me.
what do i do? i was flashing cm 7.03 and now its just stuck on the screen where the blue arrow goes around and around. what do i do? any help is appreciated.

Take out the battery. Put it back in and start your phone again. If the same happens repeat the battery pull but this time hold down on the volume bar and THEN press the power button to restart your phone. After it starts up in bootloader select recovery by moving the volume bar and then hit the power button again. This will bring you back to recovery where you can flash the rom again or restore your backup.

I know this going to sound stupid, but can anybody point me to a guide or video on how to flash roms? Im new to all this so I dont want to mess anything up.

Note: Start @ 3:15. In the video clockwork mod is black/green but that's just because its an older version, the newer version is black/orange. All the steps are still the same though.

Also keep in mind that some roms can take up to 5 minutes to load the first time. Normally (but definetely NOT always) as long as it doesn't keep reloading the boot animation, everything is fine - the rom is building your file system on your first boot.

if you took the time to read about kernels and what they are you would know.
but, i'm in a good mood today:
Kernels govern your cpu speed and how to scale it. Some are locked to a certain frequency set and some are made adjustable, but you have to get an app that interacts with the kernel otherwise it runs at whatever it is preset to.
SetCPU is the one I used, but I know there are plenty out there that others would recommend and swear by in a heartbeat.

I'm using Virtuous rom 1.02 with the advanced kernel. I clocked mine at 475-1100mhz with a low battery profile switch at 275-887 (i think).
Check your rom specific kernel to make sure it runs best for your rom. The rest is personal preference.

*sigh* Give a man a fish and he will eat all day. Teach a man to fish and he will drink beer all day.
Since you're on CyanogenMod, I recommend Pershoot's kernel (available through ROM Manager). If you're feeling bold, download Flippy's latest kernel. Since I'm running the CM-based PyroMod, Pershoot's kernel is built in.
Everytime i flash a rom do i need to flash clockwork mod recovery?

If you open clockwork and your current recover is the same as newest version then there is no need to reflash recovery. The only reason to reflash clockwork is if there is a newer version out.

I wonder wat causes all the random reboot,is it got to do with undervolt, overvolt,CPU speed and minfree value?

..overvolt?
Anyway undervolting and CPU speed can definitely cause reboots. Some phones can't go beyond 1.2GHz and I know undervolting can cause instability when brought down too low.
Personally I haven't had a random reboot in as long as I can remember, but I also don't undervolt and I don't OC past 1.2GHz.
Well,I'm using sense rom in the moment, enabled swap and supercharge.. and oc it at 468-1458mhz.. =\ still reboot, does vm heapsize affect rebooting?

My phone's upper limit is also at 1.4GHz, runs stable on it, but haven't really felt the need for that. One thing that comes to mind is that your lower limit is pretty high. What governor do you use? Do you have a profile for screen off and what's the frequency fork there?
I would assume that with that setup the phone gets pretty heated, which could very easily cause random reboots. Any idea what temperature it usually runs on?

Maybe you should try lowering the upper limit to 1.2GHz for a while see if it makes any change... in the meantime it might be helpful to know:
a) Which specific rom are you using?
b) Any custom kernel?

I use one of chinese Rom with Android 4.0.4 with Sense 4.1 from 10.10.2012
I flash BeastMode kernel 1.5 but version 'test', this with scary gov.
Everything is ok. Only one thing is bad. Sometimes when phone is sleeping screen turns on for a second or two and after that turns off. After a few minutes situation is repeating.
I search for answer what can be wrong, but I found nothing.
So what could I try to avoid this.
Maybe you had similar problem in past. Or what program may I use to detect what is a problem.
And sorry for my English.

Probably cause you're using a highly experimental ROM with the Scary gov and beastmode. Maybe try reflashing. Link to the ROM?

Chinese page with Rom: h..p://bbs.gfan.com/m/android-5189919-1-1.html
I use this kernel because with it I can change voltages and it have 122000 minimal speed, and with scary I find battery drain when I use phone is relative small.
And with this Rom I can't do reflash without losing data. Rom when flash do autowipe.
I have recovery with original kernel, so I can flash boot from it.
