[ACS][How to] Everything EL26 Android 2.3.6 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I was requested by MANY people to make this thread, as I did with EK02 and EL13. So I figured I would. Just videos on everything having to do with the latest LEAKED build EL26.

Nice thanks! I'll interested to see if others also see an improvement in 3G download speeds on the EL26 modem.

Great video! Love all of your videos, very nice to look at and straight to the point!
Are there any changes to the 4G radio/enhancements to 4G aside from the enhancements to the 3G radio in EL26?

so can i use any rom or do I have to be stock to use this modem?

Yep, I just flashed it using Calk's 2.5.1 ROM using Odin

I can't update my Profile or PRL. It returns "Error: No Service Error"
Is anyone else having these problems?

Thanks man for everything you do, you're a true asset to the XDA community.

[ODIN][TAR] SPH-D710.EL26_CL839620 (EL26 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Full Restore - Rooted)
This package is now available. Included are:
Full restore for EL26 Modem, Kernel, ROM (rooted) - 2 versions, one which resets your User Data. The other preserves your User Data. This will NOT trigger yellow triangle NOR will it increase ODIN flash count. It does NOT suffer from the issue with USB jig functionality being hampered/disabled.
Individual tar.md5 files for EL26 Modem, Kernel, ROM, and Rooted ROM. This is useful for Mac/Linux Heimdall users.

I've never been able to update prl or profile (going back to several phones now) and really don't bother much with it.
Prl is easy to do with software (which I have and know how to do once you have the prl file). As for profile, quick call to C.S to provision account if I need to, otherwise once I have the MSL, I manually program.

I'm wary to flash this. My setup with Blazer ROM on EL13 is giving me great battery life and much better radio performance than my NS4G this replaced.
Think I'll wait a few days for more anecdotal evidence.

So busy today I forgot to mention this!
Anyone doing a full restore that is willing to try out Version #2 would be most appreciated.
What's the difference? Flash order.
Normally our one clicks don't have the same order as Sextape's leak.
Version #2 is a test of using the same order and so far so good for me.

Anyone else seeing the same kind of issues?
GPS is a no go on this. On wifi or network 3G and 4G. Will not get a lock.
tried to update from FF18 to this but my ODIN flash keeps getting stuck at the very end of the progress bar where it states modem.bin. In an effort to get my phone working again, I tried to ODIN back to FF18, but that too is getting stuck at the modem.bin. Don't know if it means anything, but when using ODIN, the green progress bar seems to "glisten" or intermittently flash, but when it gets stuck on the modem, it just stays a solid green progress bar with no more glistening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: I tried just ODIN flashing the modem individually with OC FI27/FH13 modems and manual ODIN on FF18, and they all too gets stuck at the very end. what gives? the manual ODIN did get a tiny bit farther showing "NAND Write Start!!", and "RQT_Close !!"" after the "modem.bin" line, but still frozen after that and never progressing or failing.

[ROM](2-7-13)ODIN ONE CLICKS for the SPRINT+ CSPIRE GS3 (LJ7 LI3 LEN) (LJ5 LL1 MA5)

Anyone comin from the Epic 4g Touch should know what this is. For those who don't, its a full stock tar with root loaded in an executable one-click package. This will not add to the custom flash count.
LJ7 Jellybean
There are two versions of Jellybean LJ7. One will wipe all data including internal SD. Performing a factory reset in recovery is recommended prior to use unless you're flashing the version that wipes data. If you are coming from a ICS touchwiz based rom and flashing Jellybean, the factory reset is probably not needed. Just wipe cache/dalvik if there are any issues.
Flash Count Reset Edition
These are unrooted and will NOT wipe data. These will reset your custom flash count before rebooting into the system. Each storage capacity will have its own one click. Be sure to pick the one that corresponds to your phone's storage capacity. YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE IF YOU PICK INCORRECTLY. Wiping data prior to flashing is recommended.
LEN/LI3 ICS
There are two ICS versions as well. LI3 and the original LEN. Neither of these will wipe data. Doing a factory reset is a must if you are downgrading from jellybean.
Note that the stock recovery will wipe your internal storage too. This is why I recommend wiping beforehand so you can use cwm/twrp and preserve your internal sd.
DOWNLOAD FOR SPRINT
These are packed in self-extracting archives so extract before use.
You'll need a pc running windows with Samsung drivers installed

Flashed this on my sprint Epic - worked fine. Seeing very little difference from sprint roms:
"WiFi Hotspot" App
"My Account" App? or probably web link
USB Tether removed from settings
Boot animation
Still has PRL Update option which doesn't seem to work (could be because I haven't associated to the VM network at this point but I think other VM phones remove this option)
Looks like Samsung should be able to push the VM ROM's out with about 5min's of actual labor lol.

Thanks for this. However, I've already found this repository and I get an md5 hash error when I try to run the stock full restore ODIN exe (SPH-D710VMUB_FJ12_CL1135978_Stock_Restore.exe). I've already tried redownloading a couple times and I get the same error. I even tried an md5 checker and it matched the md5 perfectly. I tried the other exe's (rooted, no data restore, etc.) and those all work fine.
The problem I'm having is, I want to revert the phone back to fresh-out-the-box stock because I'm trying to activate the phone with virgin mobile. Usually, there's an "activate" app (self-service assistant app) but none of the exe's I've tried restores that app. I apologize if this is off-topic. I can start a new thread for this issue if that is more appropriate. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Ah, gotcha.

Grab the kernel in .tar format from here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244781 and flash it with Mobile Odin Lite from the Play Store (it's free). Your device will reboot. I'm guessing your on stock rooted so pull your battery after it reboots, put your battery back in and hold Power+Volume Up until it boots into recovery. Then go to Install From SD (power button is used to select), pick which SD your download went to (external most likely), scroll down to Downloads folder, pick the FI03 Toolbox that you downloaded, select yes, after it's done select Back until you get to Reboot System. Select that. Follow the rest of the directions from the linked thread above where you downloaded the files.

You don't need GC01. GB27 is the Sprint version, the carrier does not matter on the kernel. The modem is the only thing that is carrier specific.

If you're stock rooted on the latest JB release... pick the latest gb27 release on the page bilgerryan linked up too.... but read the thread first and make sure if the newest release is recent... that it is working correctly. I can't stress enough how important it is to read everything you can get you're hands on.
The gb27 kernel/recovery is just the sprint version... I'm on boost also and I run nothing but sprint kernel's and modem's.. so you'll be good.
If by chance you're on ICS still... then go to rwilco12's repo and grab a stock touchwiz kernel that has a custom recovery... or even a custom touchwiz based kernel with a custom recovery..
You just need to make sure the kernel/recovery is matched to the rom version you're currently running.. then do as bilgerryan advised..
Good luck.
Sorry for answering for ya Ryan... but I know how busy you are. Please correct me if I answered poorly..

I flashed the toolbox, still no MSL. I also have the Sprint Epic Touch. I have now spent nearly 3 weeks browsing through forums and getting nowhere. I am trying to use my old sprint phone on Net10 and I need my MSL to activate my phone. This is making me nuts! I have the custom recovery as well.. after trying all of this, I went into terminal emulator, typed getprop ril.MSL and it just flashed down to the next line. I have tried both using terminal as a regular user and a super user. does not make a difference. Is it possible to just wipe Sprint software off of the phone and install a generic? I can't stress enough how going from my gs2 with its big sexy screen to this tiny proclaim that is, well, no bueno, is killing me. I hate the proclaim....For the love of everything that is holy, please someone help me out here. Am I doing something wrong? I am new to this, but I have read and followed step by step what to do and it keeps ending up a waste of time
Have you tried the Sprint diags. The only thing that works in it for me is the ability to display the MSL.
I have also seen it posted that it does not work on the Boost & VM stock ROMs, you may have to flash a DeOdex TouchWiz ROM

Also this can be side loaded adb.
It really runs alot smoother than before the update.
All nd8 mods have worked so far.

That's probably why it worked for you, I'm getting a Status 7 error in stock recovery.
Has anyone flashed this on NJ3 boost mobile modem. Or do you have the tar available for the NJ3?
Wait sorry I didn't even read lol its just an update. I'm on the NJ3. I'm trying to get back to stock. Hellllp

The tar isn't available yet, you can try checking Kies
update .
I applied all mods from ND8. the only one that wouldn't work was the Odexed version of the hotspot mod (stuck on samsung screen)
so in turn i used ryans old deodex.zip and deodexed the rom now all works well.
i did switch back to Ktoonz kernel with the settings Ryan has on TW experience rom
im going to ask ktoonz if he can add this new kernel to his tw list of 4.4
So if you deodex after you upgrade. all the ND8 mods work: sound increase, hotspot, custom splash, etc
if you dont deodex than you'll have to use wifi tether or something like that. until someone fixes the odex hotspot
i will say it seems to run smoother and the sound quality is improved alot.
I wanted to go back to stock so I Odin'd back to ND8. I found this thread and thought I'd apply the update right away. When I boot into recovery and choose "apply update from external storage" I get a screen full of garbage. I can't take a picture or screenshot of it, but I'll type out the first several lines:
Code:
Android system recovery <3e>
K0T49H.L710VPUDND8
Choose a package to install:
/sdcard
../
=??b ?&.m? /
b.?v /
_3? ? .? /
?? ?l?.2? /
[and so on all the way down the screen]
If I choose "../" it takes me back to the main screen.
If I use my volume keys to navigate down it goes all the down and off the screen.
Any idea what's going on?
No idea. Looks like your SD is corrupted. If not, I don't know.

YouTube sideload adb from qbking77 then use the same technique to sideload the update. It's worth it
