So my friend tried installing a custom rom on his phone resulting in bricking it. He gave it to me to try to fix it.
The phone is a HTC Desire HD with physically broken volume buttons, so I can't get into recovery . I can't tell what exactly he did because he doesn't know either, however the phone is stuck at the HTC bootlogo. Plugging the phone in into a computer shows it up as portable device. I installed HTC drivers. Adb and fastboot are working too (using it for my own phones). However windows doesn't recognize the phone as something else. I already tried changing the driver and pointing it to adb and htc drivers but windows keep saying it's a) the newest driver installed (WPA-Volume-Driver) or b) it's not compatible.
I tired getting into the bootloader by pressing the back button while powering on, but it just stays at the bootlogo. Plugging the phone into a computer while powered off shows it as portable device too.
Any chances to recover the phone?
Last way would be to replace mainboard I think, but the phone is to old to invest in it, isn't it?
Im running Winows 8.1 Pro x64 if it's matters.
Thanks for help!

Try installing min adb and fastboot...or you could use the cmd prompt in SDK platform tools. Shift, right click..open cmd here. Try either of those.

If needed.. Pull battery..wait half a min...put it back in. Hold power down...forever. Lol. Then try the cmd prompt or min adb

After further thought...u are gonna hafta access adb and or bootloader with SDK. Sometimes a PC won't recognize the device..no matter how many times u uninstall or reinstall the drivers.

So, I am a victim of the McAfee killswitch. I rooted my phone, then unlocked bootloader, but I made a mistake and had to flash kdz. For some reason, the kdz i downloaded was locked in mcaffee, so i really struggled but managed to install twrp, and of course root. The phone worked fine for a long time, but then I messed up and got a bootloop. The thing is, my killswitch is engaged now, so I can't just go into TWRP and wipe, or go into download mode. Both locked. And if i try to boot normally I just get the loop... So my questions are: Is there a way to get into TWRP directly (without having to confirm, phone could reboot to recovery just fine). Or just flash kdz, i don't know, anything. ADB shows device offline and sometimes unathorized, fastboot doesn't detect it. LG service said it will only fixed if i replace everything. Any help?
Sounds like you need togoba I to stock using lg flash tool

Try using the kHz method if your computer will reconize your phone. Use LG flashtool 2014 it will put your phone in download mode for you

Kdz
How will it put my phone into download mode? If i click start, it says the phone is not connected to the computer. My computer can see the device as ADB device, but only offline or unauthorized.
When I used it my phone was stuck on the LG screen. Flashtool found my device and started the upgrade then it booted my phone into download mode
That does not work for me.. The program is stuck at 60% and telling me phone is not connected.
The only other option I can think of would be to a hard factory reset. Make sure your phone is off then hold down power and volume down together when the LG logo appears keep holding them. It should take you to that menu
I already said I can't go into recovery like that, because there is a killswitch activated on my phone.

I guess it will be very hard to flash KDZ or TOT cause you need to put your phone to download mode or need to connect ADB. following the post.

Lg G3 D855 hard brick need help
Hi guys my phone has bricked so i tried to do the tot method and is almost worked but i saw on the screen that blue background and a white text "Reset factory status" something like that...
and the number "2" in a big so i checked what the hell is that number 2 means and it means that is not good becouse to finish the hard reset i need to see the same blue backgroud but with the number "3" thats means that every thing is ok .
so after that i tried to flash it again on Lg Flash Tool and it take 14 seconds to tell me that "Cant Change To Download Mode 00000064" and every thing is ok my phone did changed to the download mode but on the program it says that it cant change to download mode ?:
some one can help me please i will appriciate that !
Q. When I tried to follow the above method I get a "Can't change to download mode" error referencing "Error 00000064"
A. I experienced this several times when attempting to un-root using a USB 3.0 port. Connect the phone using a USB 2.0 port preferably connected directly to the computer - and make sure the phone is already in download mode. Occasional you may need to unplug the USB cable from your phone for a couple of seconds and reconnect to get the process started.

When you're stuck at the factory reset status 2 page, you should go through the entire guide linked before. then at Step 7, instead of having the LG FlashTool set to 'Upgrade DL', you should change it to 'Board DL'.
You'll see an AAT screen(you will know what this is when you see it) on your LG G3. Click OK here, even though it says not to, then you press and hold the power button so you can reboot normally

Hi folks can anyone help please
Do you have custom boot recovery?
---------- Post added at 07:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:30 PM ----------
youll probaby need a-a usb cable and run the unbrick image
I was trying to flash Android 10 on my LG G7 Thin Q (LG-G710PM) with the LGUP cmd method, but I must have flashed an incompatible KDZ file or something because the process bricked my phone.
It won't boot no matter what I do, though my PC does recognize the device still (It recognizes it under other devices as QUSB_BULK_CID:0402_SN:333F0715)
I don't know what to do, and it would be a big shame if I truly just ended up killing my phone.
Update: I've downloaded Qualcom USB Drivers onto my computer and now the device is being recognized as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008
