i would do it if i knew how
a way to learn would be great but havent found one yet

Most ROMs for Arc are patchable for Arc S, so you can just use them.

I'm sure that most of us are here the test your ROMS
More devs, more community, better phone

Im currently uploading the 1.2.30 MIUI Rom for the ARC S to multiload. Maybe someone is interested in testing / using it. I'm still not allowed to post in the developer section, which forum would be appropriate for this?

First of all, thanks. I'll try your ROM if you've uploaded it.
And post in General section would be right imo.

Which Rom??
it depends on what you're interested in. there's a thread with a list of xperia pro roms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480) that you can check out. i'm using jj hybrid and it's not bad.
CM9 series by FXP are the best ROMs so far for pro..
Hi,
I Would recommend to test the cyanogenmods (cm9 and 7.2) and the pureness rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780473 ).
I Think you would find the best for you, give it a try

I was using the "Ultimate HD 3" rom (now there's a newer version) and it was pretty good but some day ago a friend of mine found a rom based on gingerbread that is very slim and fast so I'm using that one now
Amazing that this thread still exists.
There is no such thing as "Best ROM". You can find your "Best ROM" by downloading and trying out a few of the ROMs yourself. To other users, please don't bump up or reply to such threads as it is meaningless to do so.

[Q] Arc S - CyanogenMod

Hi!
First, I am a noob and I don't have time to search for proper thread which may contain answer to my question (sorry).
And the question is: is there CyanogenMod for Sony Ericsson Arc S, because this forum is dedicated to Sony Ericsson Arc only? If it is possible to flash CyanogenMod for device Arc S, may I ask for link with detailed tutorial? Thanks in advance. :good:
Anything for the arc works for the arc s, unless specifically stated by the developer

:good:
You sure? Thank you very much.
And one more question: is recommended to install CyanogenMod on Arc S, i.e. is it stable, is it fast and smooth, does it have any significant bugs or other issues...?
Oh, i can now see that there is no STABLE CyanogenMod 10 for Arc/Arc S... when we can expect stable version?

You don't have time to search? But you do have time to post this and wait for a reply? That's real lazy man, real lazy. You're lucky you got any help with this at all.

Is that true though? I installed Free Xperia Project CM10 yesterday based off JB4.1 because I was under the impression that JB4.2 wasn't designed for the Arc S.
While we are on the subject, is it possible to instal cyanogenmod from the official cm website on my lt18i, or they support only lt15i?

That really isn't anyone else's fault. (Almost) everyone else has a job too. What if everyone else did what you did? The boards would be absolutely filled with the same question, which is very easy to find the answer to if you take ten minutes to do it - and I know, because I did that.
But on official download link there is no stable CyanogenMod 10, there is only 9.1

There isn't a stable CM10, but there is a nightly build of it. I know this because I just looked on the same website. Alternatively, use Free Xperia for the latest version as it doesn't look like CM is going to be supported for our devices any longer.
Finally, on the previous page you asked when we could expect a release. One of the golden rules here is that you don't ask for releases. Everyone making these ROMs has jobs just like us, but they also find the spare time to develop ROMs for people like you and me. Now do you see why it makes you look lazy for asking for the simplest help? I'm not trying to be rude to you, just realistic, and respectful to the people who make this possible for us in the first place.
I can tell you that running FXCM10.1 on my Arc S is a huge step up both in terms of performance and features. I'd recommend it if you're feeling brave enough.

[Q]Is android 4.3 possible for the Xperia Play

I have a lot of work on my hands right now with the apps I'm working on, but if I find time I would like to build Android 4.3 from the ground up using cyanogenmod and I want to know if its possible and why/why it's not possible.
Also if anyone has started to work on Android 4.3/knows how to help post here
Also this would be my first time building a rom from the ground up so I'm the definition of a noob.

It would be possible but very difficult without help and since you said your a noob then it will be even harder for you. We couldn't even get 4.2.2 fully working. Do even if you get 4.3 you will still need a kernel for it which we don't have and you will also most likely not get Bluetooth or Wi-Fi working. If you can find someone to build a working 4.3 kernel (maybe wedgess if he has time) then maybe you could get a 4.3 dev project build going.

i agree with abdel..we dont even have 4.2.2 working..even on 4.2.1 is hard to get touchpads working well,we still have lag..im currently testing new ways to make it at least less laggy..i ve tried MC4 and each time i press touchpads is awful lag..but on DEAD TRIGGER it works good..not GB performance but very acceptable for most users..so seems unlikely we could benefit with 4.3..but we never know..by all means try it please..and thanks for your effort.
At the moment no, there are even some issues on the nexus to root android 4.3 (yeah, chainfire as started to hack it but there are still some issues), if we manage to fix properly android 4.2 it will become more possible but at the moment no

oh.. I know he asked 4.3 .. but I was suggesting 4.2.2 cuz I thought that might be easier.. so evn 4.3 we don't have a base right ?? even that we would have to build from base..
so instead of OP thinking about 4.3 ,, why doesn't he contribute to 4.2.2 and get that working .. my suggestion for him.

ok that's great.. am starting today.. plz stay with me on this thread. I will surely need all the help.
I was reading about Kernels Yesterday as well.. Actually thinking.. why don't we skip 4.2.2 and directly make a kernel for 4.3 and ROM for 4.3 .. if we r putting in all the effort.. y not for the maximum.. we will c wt happens later.. am sure some developer gonna pity our effort and take the Project over .. lol.
Woow! I love that enthusiasm .. and I think a great idea .. developers would be great to support this .. I see more future Android 4.3 .. (after seeing all fixes & performance improvements did google)
ok.. downloaded Ubuntu.. 13.04 ... Installing and Starting the basics.. will keep you posted on this.. If I have something working.. will then start something in the Dev thread.. lets c and hope for the best
Fist we must be know, do we need android 4.3 on Xperia play?
We have to work on optimizing some feature for Xperia play.
Such as
Some games
Adobe air
WiFi hotspot on CM Roms
And so on.

Sorry I've been gone, but i've been working on my app. So I was looking around the forums and I saw most, if not all of the Xperia 2011 devices had Android 4.2. So I traced it back to this thread, and on the projects website it said the only thing holding them back from developing Android 4.2/4.3 for the Xperia Play was a working Linux 3.4.x kernel port. So I don't exactly have time to develop anything (with my apps) but if you want any help or anything like that i HIGHLY recommend you go contact the devs on that thread

Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147958
Another thread you should definately check out, seems work on a 3.x.x kernel for XPlay started, then stopped (doomlord):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246010

Also I think it would be in your best interests to start a thread, where hopefully some of the more expierienced developers here would notice and take interest
So let ne get this straight, we totally bypass 4.2 because we cant get it to work properly on al xperias but we just gonna dive in to 4.3? How about we fix 4.2 and make it stable first just my opinion

Great advise. But his question would interest me too.... I didn't found any information if the Xperia M is supported by cyanogenmod. So please... enlighten us.
Guys I dont think Nicki will have official CM support. So someone will have to make an unofficial port of CM to our device. And currently we run one of the latest versions of Android. So lets just wait till the CM11 sources are completely pushed in, the probably someone will start working on it.

I actually had no idea the Find 7 HAD a custom kernel.. If you don't mind my ignorance, could someone tell me with what ROMs it is compatible with and if it also works on the 7a? Thanks!!
I think its compatible to 5.0.2 roms not sure with 5.1.1 tho.
has issues with wifi etc2
I haven't tried it with lollipop but it worked perfectly in AOSP (4.4.4) ROMS. P.S: My friend had made this kernel. It was posted on XDA & OPPO Forums but since not many people thanked him it was discontinued.

yeah. works on 4.4 up to 5.0.2 aosp roms
but I wish he continued tho. oneplus one kernel is 90% identical to find 7/7s. wish more devs could make kernels and roms to this device but the lack of interest is low
Guys this kernel is alive. It back up and rolling after a long time.
