Two Dev sub forums - HTC Wildfire S

This is message to a mod asking for two Dev forums. One for GSM and one for CDMA. Do you want or not want this to happen? Give me your opinions...
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Hello. I need to ask you of a favor
I believe you are the moderater of the HTC Wildfire S forums. Could I ask you to split the development forums into two sections like the nexus s' - GSM and cdma. this would help rom builders a lot.

Why would anyone want win 7 on any hardware? Buy a nokia

It's nice when people try to be helpful instead of jumping on the belligerence bandwagon. I salute you sir.

Yeah I saulte him also there's a bunch of asswholes on here...but excuse my going off topic there. Now I've been fallowing the windows phone 7 to android and I think its possible just really hard...then again I am not a dev because this is not coded in vb or c++...I think I will start but. Another year into coding is like uhhhg I need to finish highschool first I think

Asswholes . . . naw. If you think those responses are harsh, you haven't spent much time here. They were actually pretty gentle. The alleged "harsh" response not only answered the question, but told the OP how to get more information on the subject by using the search function.
It was proper for the previous post to point out the fact that the OP should follow this forum's rules and guidelines. There are clear forum guidelines on doing a search before posting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850273
The guidelines exist for a reason. Otherwise the forum would be overwhelmed with people asking the same questions over and over (making the forum completely useless), like:
How do I root?
What ROM is best?
Will WP7 be ported?
It took me about 30 seconds to find the following, using the search function:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928133
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=856492
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846917
But to summarize, it wouldn't be IMPOSSIBLE per se. But it would be a huge effort, since there are no hardware drivers and WP7 is closed source.

Seperate GSM/CDMA Forums

Thinking that the Development forum should be split into two
One for CDMA/LTE
One for GSM
Seems like that would solve the confusion and prevent potential bricks.

I have to agree, it's quite painful to browse to find the correct version of things for the phone you have.

I thought maybe I was a noob and didn't understand why they weren't splitting the forums. It seems like some GSM mods/roms/kernels work on the LTE, so you really have to go through trial and error to see what works?
Splitting would be far the easiest, though, unless developers have to maintain double the amount of threads which could be a pain.

+1 Agree completely

If it's going to be split, it needs to happen sooner rather than later, just because of people posting threads that accommodate both as time goes on.

I agree too, but..... this isn't development and should be in General

+ 1, I very much agree. At least different subforums.

Please god yes.
Coming from the Nexus S forums...their's is split between the 4G and the GSM version and that makes it extremely helpful...please mod-overloards...SPLIT THIS FORUM LIKE MOSES SPLIT THE SEA
i agree too but the only problem is that a few things work for both cdma and gsm.
I agree

I use to have the incredible and incredible 2 and it was frequent to have roms made from the evo and other htc devices... doesn't mean I go to the evo forum for the rom. Even though you are right, the positives far out weigh the negatives here none the less.
Please do!

I'd have to agree. And as for things that work on both, the author can post in both sections. That way they can field questions separately between the two, instead of having people with different devices posting in the same thread. Surprised this hasn't been done already.
Rabble rabble rabble.
Agreed! It could definitely clear up some confusion, even though I assume most members here are pretty smart.
I don't agree. What to do with general development threads, radio independent mods, etc?
Why not just "tag" the threads with [GSM] and [LTE] (like some devs already do).

? I don't get your point. There are no general development threads. Every mod is made for a specific model, they're not both compatible.
Radios are not cross-compatible. LTE radios only work with LTE. GSM .. same thing.
[GSM] and [LTE] are too disorganized. With two forums it makes things more organized and eliminates the chance of flashing something for the LTE when you have GSM (and vice versa).
Also, this is the wrong forum to be posting this. There are two other threads about this, we don't need another one.

Why are we not getting any admin response to what majority of the community wants? What are the pros on cons? I'm no pro but maybe the admins know why there isn't one yet..

request to mods!

Hello, mods for the HTC One X...
Whilst browsing modaco forums i came across the following posts:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/353733-30-04-rom-tripndroid-operating-system-12028404bu/
http://android.modaco.com/topic/353725-29-04-rom-aokp-endeavor-unleashed-users-choice/
The owner claims that his work was not wanted on xda!
I think that his work would bring a much needed diversity to our device's forum.
I hope im not out of line in asking you to let him publish his work on xda and let atleast a few hundred more people have access to it?
thanks!

Oh i remember that guy from when i had my xperia x10.
He was not wanted on XDA back then either. I actually thinks that he left/got kicked out of XDA at that time

Sorry but the dev mentioned is no longer a member of XDA.
Also, all such issues can be handled by pm as they are offtopic to this forum.

Development thread fork

We should fork the development thread for gsm and cdma devices to keep ppl from getting mixed up

I agree for sure. Even though the Cdma forum would be very small haha but I hit the like button anyway.

It would have avoided a lot of confusion, but modpunk is now attempting to merge cdma code in his cm9 rom. In what forum would hybrid development be discussed?
I think I read somewhere though if he merges we will never get official support i dnt remember where but yea
Sent from my HTC-PG762 using XDA
Marvel and marvelc cannot coexist; as, they are two [slightly] different boards. As one must specify a board in aosp, this will not work. Now, if someone makes an Aroma [temporarily defunct] installation that switches out neccesary items, it might work as a hybrid, but typically speaking, a ROM is either gsm or cdma. In aosp, you'd also need to write your no sim line to your tree if your cdma. This would screw up gsm. Etc, etc...
This was called for awhile back, but in retrospect, I'm a little glad it didn't happen...
Wildfire S temporarily got sent to the legacy boards for low traffic; if split, both gsm and cdma could land in legacy yet again.
Always positive and negative ways to look at it I suppose.
That all said, [and even though this is about the development section], we probably should curtail discussion threads to General unless they contain a lil development... Mods been cracking down of late

Does anyone have a way of getting google now working on HTC One X with stock ICS? I understand that its currently only on Nexus?

You'd think that a senior member would know this is the wrong section. Correct one is Q&A or Apps&Themes.
There's already one such thread in general, so check that one out.
Hmm good question, wrong place to ask it but i'll look into it.
Sorry but I figured seeing as it involves hacking around a jelly bean Rom to get the app that development section was possibly the best place to ask the question.

We all make mistakes but as you have nothing to share to us involving the development of something and you said yourself, it was a question so belongs in the q and a
