ROM - your setup 12/22 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Updated Epic 4G Touch *January 11, 2012
First I just want to be clear and thankful to all the developers making these ROMS available to us FREE OF CHARGE. I personally like each and every one of them and I flash different ROM every few weeks for the sake of *change and adventure. Things do change quick around here from modems, kernels, roms and themes which all give us the unique ability to personalize to our liking. So, thank you devs!!!
Now, I'm curious in comparison (your milage may vary), but just for the heck of it without any offense, could we describe ROM's in categories? Maybe it'll help people discover something they didn't know existed...

Best kernel for a ASOP GB rom ?

What is the best kernel for the ASOP GB roms? I am looking to get the best battery life. Also links please.
I obviously prefer Tiamat but there are others too. try to find some undervolting, make sure the kernel has HAVS and viperboy has some scripts that will undervolt even more if you can maintain stability to keep your battery life going. choose the "smartass governor" with an app called setcpu
my favorite is incredikernel and try undervolting like morph3k said
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848453
Tiamat 4.0 is broken for camera. I liked Savaged-zen before the release of android 2.3.4
Tiamat 4.0.1 is released and the camera is working.
i have been using Tiamat 3.3.8 on Cm7 stable runs smooth and gives me great battery life
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972746
I couldn't post a direct download because my post count is low ( I do more reading than posting ) just go to downloads at the bottom of the page choose Tiamat Inc and scroll down to the kernel you want I would stick with the last 3 series because there are still complaints about the 4.0 kernel
The one that has been coming with new CM nightly's has been working great. I used to use Chad's latest incredikernel 2.6.37.6 (Sorry can't post link still a young Jedi). But CM's kernel has been smooth for me on nightly 68 and 69.

FC modems run cooler...

I've noticed a lot of talk about speeds & which modem is fastest speeds seem to vary, however I have noticed that my phone runs much cooler with modems fc 15, & fc 27. These modems average about 31° - 39°C as oppose to stock el29 rom with similar usage streaming & brightness settings. It's definitely hotter & shorter batt. life on avg. about 40° - 47°C!
I'm using Blazer 4.0 I've tried fc 27, 21, & 15... as for speed 15 is best for me, but they all ran much cooler with multiple task active together!
Has anyone else notice this, or know any reason why?
I too have noticed that my phones doesn't get as hot during heavy use with the FC15 modem. It also provides the fastest speeds for me compared to the others. As for battery life EL13 was still the best. All FC modems drain my phone the same.

Is anybody running FC15 on a GB Rom?
I read on another post that some people had boot loops or other issues with FC15 Modem on a GB ROM.
Im running rooted stock EL29 Kernel ROM with FC14 Modem.
I would like to run FC15 but wanted to make sure someone else out there has a GB Rom with FC15 Modem..

[Q] wifi strength and battery missing on Calkulin's E4GT 2 v1.2 ICS FC18 Tweaked

First post here so I apologize if this has been answered but among the 300 plus pages in the dev thread pertaining to this ROM I could not find my answer.
Running Calkulin's E4GT 2 v1.2 [ ICS l FC18 l Tweaked l Battery Saver Script w/ FC18 modem
Great set up! Love it! All but the range on my wifi. not even half the range of stock.
Also just today my battery level disappeared.
Any help is much appreciated

I'm looking for a particular rom.

I'm looking for a VERY STABLE rom compatible with streamline kernel (I want great battery life).
It must have stock icons or close to stock in looks. Data performance isn't a must as long as it's not worst than stock. So in order of preference :
1. Stable (no voice echo or other issues) with streamline kernel.
2. stock like icons or isc icons or something close (don't like slikmod 3.6 icons).
I tried beastmod 5 and like it. But I heard it leaks ram (don't know what that means or how to check it).
I tried slikmod 3.4 but battery life isn't great.
I tried slicmod 3.6 but I hate the icons and the theme.
I tried DW 2.5.1 but I got voice echo when calling another S2. I can always try again though.
I want to try DW 2.7 but read about the problems it has. Will streamline kernel fix those problems?
I tried bluray Tuesday but didn't really like the theme.
I'm on slikmod 3.4 now and like it except the battery life. But thinking of
going back to beastmod because of the better battery life.
You can always add the Beats mod, which isn't that good anyways. Voodoo sound is by far better.

I could have sworn voodoo sound didn't work on our phone.

Try out Megamix. It's close to stock, removes bloatware, fast, great battery life, and it's ICS!!
The only downside to this rom that it doesn't have the sound stuff that you wanted.
Check it out if your interested!
Hoped I helped you out! Enjoy!
Darkside
Sent from the darkside of my Galaxy S III.
I just edited the OP. Don't care about sound enchancements.
Darkside is very stable. I've been running this rom since beta 3 was released.. everything works great

try the new ICS by darkside, very stable to me
Darkside Evolution gets my vote as well. It's my daily driver and beta 3 is pretty stable. I'll more than likely migrate to CM9 once that team gets source code and puts it out but TDJ does some excellent Dev work.

If you want a gingerbread ROM, then I suggest either MR x's stock CIQ free ROM ( excellent battery life ), or Juggernaut 5.0.. both have been outstanding for me..
if you like ICS then I suggest darkside.. there are probably other good ones but it works for me so I stuck with it ( plus it has terrific AOSP themes and mods )

Flash back to stock Gingerbread (EL29) and try it for a few days and if battery life increases restore data, sms, apps, etc
If not: I recommend Flashing Latest Ice cream sandwich FI25 which has great battery life. Average 15hours a day, internet, twitter, text, call usage!
If you want to stay with gingerbread try to figure if something is running in the background, an intrusive app or widget , check your sleep cycle, try switching your kernel to el 29. I'm running same build on my epic since May, after trying several ics builds, I finally settled into this Rom with Overstews theme and have not had any issues (I'm running the el29 kernel also) I average 18 to 20 plus hrs before charge.
