Hi guys,
A friend of mine (he knew I could do this for him but ignored to ask me) somehow flashed his HTC Desire with nexusone hboot 0.35 and installed cyanogen. This now causes a lot of problems and I cannot go back to desire hboot even if I s-offed the nexus hboot with blackrose.
I have tried Fastboot commander to flash Desire hboot, tried with PASSIMG.zip to trick nexus hboot to load original desire rom and nothing happens.
Please help me install desire hboot and then use the classic unrevoked and alpharev method to root and s-off and then install a custom rom to this phone.
Your help is greatly needed and appreciated - I can even buy a beer or two for your help - sorry cannot afford much more than that.
BR,
George
What are the problems? Why don't you just run 2.3.3 RUU?

When I try to run any RRU it does not proceed because it thinks is it a NEXUS ONE phone...! (
I never use fastboot commander or android flasher but always use the native fastboot mode
fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
I suggest that you flash hboot_downgrade first to unlock the hboot.
SuperCID might help with flashing correct RUU.

According to this information - nothing.
Bootloader version mainly and RUU version.

Do u have custom HBOOT?
Is your hboot 6.93.0001? If it is, flash hboot downgrader from AlphaRev site then just flash RUU over it. Also make sure your RUU is the latest one and not an old one.
Sent from my HTC Original Desire with Beats Audio using Tapatalk
also running a RUU does not necessarily "refresh" it.. you'd do exactly the same with:
Code:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata (or data can't remember which)
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase recovery (you'll need to flash recovery again)
So might as well not risk bricking it with a RUU in case something goes wrong..
During AlphaRev 1.8 HBOOT reflash utility, my phone freezed at stage 3 of 3 for about an hour... Pulled out the battery, turn back on & stuck at Fastboot.. (see image) managed to switch between fasboot & hboot.. it'll hang when i switch to Android System Recovery mode...
cant even do the Goldcard

Use your other android phone for the goldcard. Then flash the 2.2 WWE RUU. If that fails, use the 2.3 one.
Thanx bortak, i'll try..
Bortak, why adb still cant find my device? for Fastboot it's ok...
I'm preety sure you won't be able to do what you're up to with Alpharev cause you have 0.93 hboot, you need revolutionary for that.
But, if you use 2.2 RUU it can happen to downgrade hboot to 0.88 so then you can try with Alpharev.

Alpharev is ok with 0.93(mine was 0.93 and 2.29.405.5) but it is obsolete and requires stock rooted ROM (unrevoked root must be done prior s-off procedure), revolutionary can do everything in one go I prefer Revolutionary

Ok, next guide me on how to;
1. S-Off
2. Upgrade my Desire to Cyanogenmod 7 or Cyanogenmod 9 (which is stable...)

Like kotag said revolutionary. But before flashing of rom I suggest you to upgrade recovery, because revolutionary installs some old version. My recommendation is 4ext, install 4ext recovery updater and then flash recovery from it.

Hi guys just some help regarding wanting the new CM 10 rom but it won't let me flash as I have hboot 1.28 and yes I have heard some people haven't made it to work and some have. It is because I used the new Android Revolution HD 1.11 and I know that hboot 1.28 was required so anyways I wanna switch to CM 10 and previously it worked because I had hboot version 1.12. Now when I flash the boot.img given my CM 10 developers it will just keep restarting or stay in the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen. I downloaded a boot image for hboot 1.28 that was in the forums for CM 10 but still no luck. Am I missing something or what. Also a Final question if I put my phone back to the stock RUU which is given by Football will my hboot be restored to the previous version and NOT 1.28. I'm sorry I'm such a noob I haven't checked yet but don't want to waste my time doing it if it doesn't. Thanks a lot of help will be appreciated
HBoot downgrade is not possible unless you have s-off. Older RUU's won't work

I guess the new boot.img you mentioned is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32486421&postcount=7308
That does work with CM10 and hboot 1.28. Did you erase the cache after you flashed the boot.img? fastboot erase cache

It's unlikely that you have S-OFF, but go into the bootloader screen and the you will see either SHIP S-ON or SHIP S-OFF.
Thanks guys for your help. Man I'm such a nut. And yes fastboot erase cache worked and I have S-ON. Why is it so important for people to have S-OFF can someone explain me. :victory:

Well, for one thing you would just be able to flash the entire ROM including boot.img just by flashing the ROM .zip file from recovery. But with S-ON, recovery is not able to write the boot.img, that can only be done from the bootloader.
Also, if you have S-OFF you can downgrade your hboot. Currently there is a big to do about hboot 1.28, but if you install that and do not have S-OFF you can not go back to a lower numbered hboot.
And people don't agree with the warranty terms of HTC and unlocking, so would like to install custom ROMs and then hide that from HTC when it's convenient (warranty claim).
That's what i was looking for! Finally found it

I had the same problem. Boot.img is not being flashed correctly when you are installing your rom. I found boot.img inside the rom .zip file and just extracted it separately.
Instructions on how to flash boot.img are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270
Hi All
I tried the ace hack kit again to get s-off and really messed up
It went through the process until it said radio flashed please wait....
Phone rebooted and stuck on the white htc screen
Managed to recover with a pd98.img but this has wiped my root and 4ext and the phone boots into 2.33 sense 2.1
hboot has changed from 2.0xxxxxxx to 0.85.0024
Problem is when i do the htcdev procedure to unlock the bootloader i get an error when running fastboot oem get_identifier_token
It just says bootloader command error
Help!!

Then you will need to make a Goldcard then download the WWE Version then run the .exe and get the rom.zip file copied some where then with goldcard inplace run fastboot with the following commands
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
That will then flash it. make sure before running fastboot your in the same place as fastboot and the rom.zip file though

My image build is 2.50.405.2
There isnt a build higher than this on the list but there is a wwe build with the same number

All the other builds are lower
Will this work?
Stu
ps
On Windows 7 any idea where the rom zip is extracted to when the exe is run?
Rom.zip will be any one of the folders in temp just type %temp% in run box. As for the Rom if that's the latest then it's the latest.
Also 3.x.405 is latest

The fastboot sent a load of files to the phone
And it completed ok
But phone is still on the black htc screen with the green progress bar appx 95% across
What do i do now?
If fastboot says completed just type.fastboot reboot

Hi Hacktrix
You're being really helpful and I appreciate it.
Sorry for being a bit thick but what do you mean by installing the HTC dev boot?
Have i missed something?
I cant get the token still as it still says bootloader error
Flashing the rom.zip seems to go without error but nothing changes on the phone
Cheers

Not a problem. Right have you gone to the HTC dev site and registered

If so i can do everything for you including S-Off'ing your device if you want that done too.
Yes im reg on htcdev
I already htcdev unlocked this phone prior to me messing it up with the ace hack kit
yes id like it s-off as well
Just easier flashing roms as before had to flash rom and fast boot the boot.img
stu
Send me a PM and i will help you ok mate
pm sent with my email addy

So,
I just bought a Htc Desire z a few days ago. Unlocked the bootloader, Installed CWM. All was going well until I decided to flash a Rom then the phone when into a bootloop and CWM stopped working.
So far I've fixed the recovery through fastboot but I'm still in a bootloop.
Any Ideas?
Additional details:
I'm on Ubuntu, I'm not so good with fastboot(or adb), the phone is a Turkish HTC desire Z, I have a NAndroid back-up right before I flashed the rom. I've tried combining it with the stock recovery. Obviously didn't work.

Hi,
VISION PVT S-ON
It means security ON
So, it won't let you flash anything
First, you have to run a rom again (dunno how....
from bootloader what are yours options? You can go to recovery?
if not, maybe installing a RUU from bootloader... But wait, i'm not sure you can...
And then, you'll start again :

No actually I can extract a RUU to a IMG file.
I currently can go into the bootloader(therefore into fastboot) and I can flash recoveries long as they're in img format.
I know this going to sound stupid considering that I got this far but what exactley is a RUU ? I mean I know I got the Hboot update from one but do they contain stock Roms as well?

in that case you just have to copy the boot.IMG file from the rom you downloaden. Put it in the map with fastboot etc. Then open a terminal and type fastboot flash boot boot.img I dont know if how this works on Ubuntu. But i think its something like that on Ubuntu.

didn't see much on s-off. You do have anything else?
Its in the first post, first you need to get a factory image running and relock your bootloader, then follow the steps in the xda wiki or strawmetals PDF guide. If you don't want to do this and would rather keep secure flags on then then each ROM you flash you will need to fastboot flash the kernel when done
But I highly recommend to get true radio s-off
