My Desire has been S-OFF and I'd like to refresh it with RUU. What should I pay attention?

Do u have custom HBOOT?
Is your hboot 6.93.0001? If it is, flash hboot downgrader from AlphaRev site then just flash RUU over it. Also make sure your RUU is the latest one and not an old one.
Sent from my HTC Original Desire with Beats Audio using Tapatalk
also running a RUU does not necessarily "refresh" it.. you'd do exactly the same with:
Code:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata (or data can't remember which)
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase recovery (you'll need to flash recovery again)
So might as well not risk bricking it with a RUU in case something goes wrong..

i was on 2.3.3 Officele rom Gingerbread Dev.
soo i did get the S-off ,
but my question now is...
How do i get that S-on?
if you dont change Hboot you need to run official RUU again and you will become S-on again,
if you change your Hboot you need to flash downgrader from alpharev web site and after that run official RUU to become S.on

I had 2.3.3 oficial update. I used revolutionary to s-off (with the oficial update i had 1.02.0001 hboot and after s-off i had 6.93.0002 hboot). After s-off i ran the shipped RUU and i am still s-off and 6.93.0002 hboot.
Is there a way to get back to 0.93.0001?
Thanks!

Hboot versions by alpharev with the number 6.93.1002 are protected against overwriting by ruu or ota. You have to flash downgrader and then stock hboot first before you can flash an ruu.
Is there a tutorial for flashing a hboot downgrader and a custom hboot?
Thanks!

i found it !
First rename the Bravo downgrader.zip to PB99IMG run it in HBOOT MODE, not recovry mode, aply the update, than you hboot will chance to '' ... 9999 '' , after that i had a RUU ZIPFILE, rename that also to PB99IMG run in HBOOT mode and you're done, yoo i learn this as wel!,
Questions:
After i get 999 hboot, i rename the ruu file like ruu_bravo.... .exe to PB99.ZIP?
Thanks!
No. You have to either extract the ruu from the rom (guide can be found by using the search) or download the appropriate ruu as a PB99IMG.exe and rename this into PB99IMG.zip.

How i got back to the 0.93.0001:
1. I have downloaded the downgrader from alpharev - bravo_downgrade.img.
2. Downloaded fastboot coomader.
3. Restart phone into fastboot.
4. Start fastboot commander, loaded bravo_downgrade.img and flashed it.
5. Restart bootloader (from phone).
6. Got the 6.93.999 hboot.
7. Restart the phone, activate debugging mode and conect the phone with charge only.
8. Downloaded the ruu (for my phone) from shipped roms.
9. Flash the RUU from windows and now the RUU can rewrite the bootloader - so now i have 0.93.0001 hboot.
Thank you all and alpharev and unrevocked (revolutionary)!

Cool ROMs, as well as files from Alpharev.
Hi guys,
A friend of mine (he knew I could do this for him but ignored to ask me) somehow flashed his HTC Desire with nexusone hboot 0.35 and installed cyanogen. This now causes a lot of problems and I cannot go back to desire hboot even if I s-offed the nexus hboot with blackrose.
I have tried Fastboot commander to flash Desire hboot, tried with PASSIMG.zip to trick nexus hboot to load original desire rom and nothing happens.
Please help me install desire hboot and then use the classic unrevoked and alpharev method to root and s-off and then install a custom rom to this phone.
Your help is greatly needed and appreciated - I can even buy a beer or two for your help - sorry cannot afford much more than that.
BR,
George

When I try to run any RRU it does not proceed because it thinks is it a NEXUS ONE phone...! (
I never use fastboot commander or android flasher but always use the native fastboot mode
fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
I suggest that you flash hboot_downgrade first to unlock the hboot.
SuperCID might help with flashing correct RUU.

Yes, this is the first option
So i somehow went hiroshima on my one x. I'll keep it short and simple. Had my BL unlocked but was running CWM recovery and the stock rom. Tried installing the cyanogenmod 9 and things went to hell after i flashed the boot.img. Now I am stuck at the white HTC screen. I read the disaster recovery but I am still having no luck. I relocked the bootloader and reflashed stock recovery then i tried using the ruu utility but it said that it didnt match and then rebooted with some developer text on the boot screen. I used the getvar command and it says:
version-main: 1.28.720.10
Before the blowup I had ran the OTA.I was on 1.26.720.10. This is the ruu i tried to reflash. I cant seem to find the 1.28.720.10. I also tried pulling the sys and boot img files from the temp directory and manually flashing, it gave an error.
as of right now i have the bootloader unlocked again and CWM recovery reinstalled so i can charge.
please help! $20 reward via paypal to the person that helps me get back to complete stock!
The worst part is i dont even want this damn phone...lol
Try this mate. If you can still get to bootloader and recovery it recoverable. I'd go back to stock so its as if you bought the phone, just to be safe. So...
Open cmd and CD to your fastboot file location. Plug phone in and...
First flash a stock boot.img from your stock.zip
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
Then relock your bootloader.
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
Then run the RUU.
But make sure you have the correct one. So that includes region. If you started on 1.26 and you haven't done any OTA updates then you need 1.26 but with your region code.
Good luck!

i did do the ota to 1.28 before i blew it up. also, how do i find the right region code? WHen i searched google for the results of my getvar version-main i found a bunch of threads referring to that being the ota for india, so thats the ruu i downloaded from the fileshare. i was working off a hunch though.
Will I be able to use a 1.26 RUU if I updated to 1.28, seeeing as how my getvar says 1.28?

Yeah if you did the OTA you need to use the 1.28 RUU as your hboot will have updated along with either things so 1.26 won't work.

Do you know how to push a ROM.zip on to your SD card via command prompt?
Try downloading a custom ROM and flash the boot.img then, clear cache, then boot to recovery and flash the ROM. Then reboot. Should work.

Hello! I have the strangest problem, and wondered if someone could help.
I received a present from a friend, a second-hand HTC Desire GSM, but it didn't have stock Android and was running on a custom ROM installed on the SDCard. I wanted to install CyanogenMod on the phone itself (not the SD Card) and tried to with the phone by reading up details online. This is my first time with an Android phone, and I'm not sure what I did, but now I'm unable to boot into Hboot recovery.
I think the problem began when I installed the file "RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865" from a certain website, and ever since I can't seem to flash the phone with another RUU. Can someone please help me make the phone usable again? I'll post the details below based on what I could find as of recent:
AlphaRev Oxygen r2
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1882
M1CROP-831D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
You are SOFF.
Follow these steps in sequence
1. Get the stock hboot from alpharev.nl and flash it from fastboot
2. Get the 2.3 RUU from htcdev and run it from PC with phone connected with USB
3. Flash the 4ext recovery from fastboot.
4. Flash any custom rooted rom from recovery

Please stop telling people to flash stock hboot over every other custom hboot, cause most of the time thet will succed but eventualy someone will end up with hboot brick. It is recommended to flash downgrade hboot prior flashing any other.
In his case he doesn't need to run RUU, he is s-off so all he needs is a different hboot (oxygen has a lack of space on system partition), 4ext img from Jmcclue's thread that can both be flashed via fastboot and then a personal choice of rom.

I dont recall telling people to flash stock hboot before this. I had noticed that he has got a oxygen r2 hboot. It is perfectly safe to flash the alpharev stock hboot over this. I would only use the downgrader to remove write protection from my hboot so that when I run the RUU I get SON.
The OP also stated that he is not sure what he has done so I would run the 2.3 RUU just so that he can work from known territory.
hes S-OFF with no recovery and has CM rom on sdcard soo like nloooo says flash recovery and then he can flash the rom on sdcard after a full wipe (if it fits on Oxygen r2 hboot) or change hboots and flash new rom if he wants

Hi, i cant s-of HTC Desire HD, i tried this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221039
and im getting error.
I have already unlocked bootloader, and installed recovery.
The best would be downgrade, but my phone dont accept PD98IMG roms...
How i can downgrade my phone to atleast s-off it?
I have S-OFFed an HTC Desire HD on my own with this guide.
If you want to downgrade you are going to need misc_version patch (to patch your misc partition to a lower value) and you have to make a goldcard so you can flash an older RUU (in this case only radio) without signature check. Also you are going to need an uncecured kernel to execute some commands.
I think the way to go with this legacy device is to stay s on. Just a lil more work flashing ROMs. Doing boot.img via fastboot
i can try with this hboot from this tutorial, maybe then this tutorial would have to work, but how to flash this hboot? hboot_7230_Ace_2.00.2728_110907
when im trying as
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip hboot_7230_Ace_2.00.2728_110907.zip
getting error.
FAILED <remote: 99 unkown fail>
i just need early froyo kernel (boot.img) to do the s-off well. "You need usb debugging working, an HTC signed early froyo radio (in firmware.zip) and an early froyo kernel"
have someone download link to correct image?
i think i just need the correct boot.img to do this.
