Gnex looks completely different - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Am I the only one confused about gnexs looks?

That phone looks nothing like what I've got in hand. It's slimmer and the display is more curved.
Gsm version or prototype?

Thats the fake picture someone made when Samsung released the teaser.

Neither, it's a 3D render.
Probably of the GSM version, though, which is slightly thinner than the LTE. Other than that, they still do look the same; I'm not sure what major difference you're seeing.

The Nexus would suck if it was that curved. Seriously?
Why are you using an old, user-created image? Go to Google's or Verizon's site.
Troll?

Yeah the Samsung person that created the teaser must have changed the curvature a lot otherwise it looks the same.

I totally agree. The curve is no where the same on this phone. It'd be nice if it was though.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

It looks the same but the curve isn't as dramatic.
Seriously, just look at the official Google/Samsung Pics.

Also seems like the corners are slightly more rounded in the real version.
I prefer the real one...didnt feel like using a bananaphone.

Razer or the Prime

I'm due for a upgrade and I'm having a hard time deciding on which phone I want. I haven't heard much talk on the razer but I do love the way it looks and feels over the prime. But the prime is
Unlocked. Man I hate decisions

Well you do get a better screen with the nexus. I posted a summary of my nexus experience on the rezound or galaxy nexus thread.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Oh ok. I'm trying to stay away from the rezound just because it looks similar to the dinc. Lol. Trying a different look. I love everything about the razer better but the nexus will be huge in development. Lol. I'm just not sure about the internal battery in the razor. Lol.

That's definitely what your going to want to get (Nexus), Motorola devices usually have low activity development, go take a look at the RAZR forums for meh.

Hmm, this is a biggie for me and probably most people on this site.
The big downer on the nexus is no sd card slot.
Any guess on how much dev will be going on for the Rezound?

Virtually nothing until they can get the bootloader unlocked. When that happens NilsP will be busy.
Only thing that concerns me is if the razr freezes or bootloops. U can't just pull the battery.

Well though Samsung Prime Nexus looks good the benefits of the Motorola Razr lure me.
Was told that the`Razr with Ice Cream software will be available in January 12.
The Razr can be plugged into a docking station and a keyboard and screen can be attached so it can be used like a notebook. There is also a self contained docking station complete with keyboard and screen.
Id be worried about no battery pull possibility. Also with such a thin phone it would be nice to upgrade the battery and back cover and still have a pretty thin device. Tons of bezel on the Razr too so its bigger than it needs to be. Only thing I like is built in access to home computer files...
there is a bigger battery version of the Razr coming soon....maybe removable battery on that. Still, i dislike Motorola.

My Father has the Droid 2 Global stock. It's cool and all but the UI of Motorola is just not as cool as Android or Sense.
I'm all for slim phones, been waiting till Americans could make some for our market..but no removable battery = fail. And i have slender hands...try out the Nexus at the store, I'm sure your hand will be fine operating the phone....i for one, was a bit wrong, i can use it w/ one hand, kind of~
Now if only stupid America can sell slim 7-9mm thick smartphones that are water proof/water resistant w/ a 10mp+ camera + good lens

Verizon Galaxy Nexus Extended Battery Question

So I just got my Nexus as a replacement for my rezound and they were out of normal batteries and backs so they gave me the extended versions. Since I've never seen the normal I was wondering what the size and differences are between them are?
Sent from my tin can using a string.
It's the same. It just adds an extra hour or two and adds 0.01-0.03 to the part of the phone.
Also be careful about cases. Some fit, some don't with the extended.
It is a bit thicker.
"Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leads up to light."
They actually make the phone feel better in my opinion. I was happy with the little added weight.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Depends what variant u got that makes the weight/thickness feel better.
GSM is a yes.
CDMA is a no.
Well I'm cdma and I love the way it made it feel. Doesn't feel cheap anymore. Has just a tad bit of weight on it and has a more premium feel to me now.

What rubbish!! Lol...8Gb ram? Nonsense!
Nexus phones have never blown away the current crop of phones at release with majorly advanced hardware. I am not saying Nexus phones aren't advanced...just that their main purpose has always been the "Pure Google Android" software experience.
A phone with actual specs like this would be so expensive even with carrier subsidies it would be rediculous.

Anyone feel like???

Anyone feel like that the Galaxy 3 should have came out with a 5.0" screen instead of 4.8"? I feel like that a 4.8" screen is still too small to do things like access office documents or remotely connect to a PC from our GS3. Can anyone else think about what the GS3 should have came with in terms of specs?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I'm content with 4.8"
You might want to look into the Galaxy Note if u need something bigger
Sent From My Sprint Galaxy S3
5.0" is definitely too big. Even 4.8" is too big for my thumb to easily reach the top left of the screen. I'd recommend getting a Galaxy Note if you want something bigger.
The only problem is that there is no galaxy note for sprint.

no.
I started with the HTC hero and thought the size was good, then I got the Epic which had a 4" screen. Now I thought 4" was big and told myself I don't need any bigger, then epic touch comes out with 4.5" screen, and I grew really fond of it. Now this device comes out with 4.8" and I think this is definitely the largest I'm going.
The note is freaking huge and yes, I've played with it. The screen is nice, but when you're using the phone up to your head, when it's really big, it starts looking, well, stupid.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Definitely not; I already think 4.8" is a bit too large. The kind of tasks you want to do would be far better suited for the Nexus 7.
4.8 is actually pretty big
but it doesnt FEEL big lol.

Eh, all the AMOLED tablets pretty much suck since they're stuffed with Touchwiz (tablet version sucks) which slow them down incredibly.
And the difference between AMOLED and LCD is really miniscule, so unless you care about blacks being a little bit deeper, it doesn't matter.
If you don't believe me, go to a store and try the Nexus 7 - - Once you actually see the screen, you'll be able to make a clear decision.

I agree it's design looks creepy, metaphorically speaking.
IMO the Nexus 4 looks like a fake Gnex, but I'm sure it's looks will grow on me.
Well, to my mind, the idea of those dots on back side is good, it looks new and unusual (I mean new in the mobile phone world, generally it reminds some old Chinese toys), but for me it has some significant shortcomings:
straight. Galaxy Nexus has a kind of wave there, and a small hill at the bottom helped to grab it more confident, this one appears to be hold only due to glass-to-skin rubbing;
glass. If you don't like fingerprints and tried to clean the front side of GN every time after touching it, now you have to clean both sides and you just cannot hold it without setting you fingerprints everywhere.
feel. Cold glass is going to feel much more impersonal and indifferent, than the GN's plastic, even if it is not soft-touch.
So I would say it looks more weird, than creepy.
Don't worry. Once it gets dropped a couple times the sparkley look will change to the shattered look.
The only creepy part is when you drop it the wrong way; the dots will be replaced by jagged lines.
Well the back glass is supposed to be a Lil sunk in from the band around it.... not sure if that matters. So when it lays on the table the glass won't be touching it. So maybe it will protect it somewhat
