So I just got my Nexus as a replacement for my rezound and they were out of normal batteries and backs so they gave me the extended versions. Since I've never seen the normal I was wondering what the size and differences are between them are?

It's the same. It just adds an extra hour or two and adds 0.01-0.03 to the part of the phone.
Also be careful about cases. Some fit, some don't with the extended.
It is a bit thicker.
"Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leads up to light."
They actually make the phone feel better in my opinion. I was happy with the little added weight.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Depends what variant u got that makes the weight/thickness feel better.
GSM is a yes.
CDMA is a no.
Well I'm cdma and I love the way it made it feel. Doesn't feel cheap anymore. Has just a tad bit of weight on it and has a more premium feel to me now.

Just a matter of opinion.
I do love the extra battery power. So I don't really care about thickness.

Thats the fake picture someone made when Samsung released the teaser.
Neither, it's a 3D render.
Probably of the GSM version, though, which is slightly thinner than the LTE. Other than that, they still do look the same; I'm not sure what major difference you're seeing.
The Nexus would suck if it was that curved. Seriously?
Why are you using an old, user-created image? Go to Google's or Verizon's site.
Troll?
Yeah the Samsung person that created the teaser must have changed the curvature a lot otherwise it looks the same.
I totally agree. The curve is no where the same on this phone. It'd be nice if it was though.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
It looks the same but the curve isn't as dramatic.
Seriously, just look at the official Google/Samsung Pics.
Also seems like the corners are slightly more rounded in the real version.

Just received it in the mail today. Definitely OEM and adds a very minimal amount of bulk. The only thing it doesn't do is curve in around the bottom of the phone, making it look more uniform. My Amzer case also fits this perfectly and i'm sure all other do as well. Here's the link if interested.

I also ordered from Shimshop. What date did you place your order? Just wondering how long delivery took!

4 1/2 hours vs. 4 hours worth it?
This battery is a marginal increase in capacity and probably makes the phone incompatible with OEM accessories.

If you're using the extended battery with the GSM version you can just use cases meant for the LTE version since they are both marginally thicker than the GSM version with the normal battery.

Now that we know that it can fit in our GSM Nexus, the question is how significant is the improvement.
In your normal use, how long does the normal battery and the extended battery lasts?
I'm coming from an LG revolution on Verizon, ill admit it's plagued with issues. The main reason I liked it was locking in my unlimited 4g data, and it handles wifi tether somewhat well. Anyway
Seeing prices on an off contract Verizon GN ($200-300) makes me consider buying one outright to replace. Doesn't help my revolution has a crack in the glass (not screen). Are there any considerations I should make beyond what I find reading out of reviews and going by user experiences? I'm so far happy with all that I'm seeing, and the caveats aren't big for me, such as omitting Google wallet and it having a pentile display. Ill bet it's miles ahead of my revolution (plain LCD 800x480). I have the extended battery for my revolution and will most likely soon after buying a GN go for the same, but I want to also hear from the xda community. Thanks all in advance.

But definitely get some form of screen protection immediately. Preferably a case of some kind, as this phone is like a wet bar of soap.

Nah. I used to use the dual incipio case, but the slimness just cannot be covered up! Just slap a screen protector and you're golden... unless you're really clumsy. But yes, get the GNex, flash Jelly Bean, and you will be convulsing on the ground struck by awesomeness (if that makes sense? )
I just got my gnex from eBay. And this phone is so awesome! I am coming from a epic touch 4g where the phone specs should be a slight wash but I am digging this phone sooooo much more

This phone pwns!!
So much development too.
The phone is great. A few days with it and you'll wonder how you ever lived with a smaller screen.
The stock experience isn't bad, but unlocking the boot loader and rooting couldn't be easier so you'll be up and running with new Roms all the time.
I'm quite enjoying mine, but it is slick and has a tendency to want to slide out of your hand. Get a case and an extended battery.
It does get warm near the top when browsing the net but its a big deal. Anyway off to work I go, get the damn phone you'll have no regrets.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Thanks all for the support! Forgot just how free and open nexus devices are. Is there a particular extended battery and case go for? I noticed an off brand 3800mah with cover (same company also makes suitable cases) for $20, didn't look like a half bad company at least. I know batteries can be hit or miss. Also, does the (insert power control widget w/wifi tether button) trick still work for that? Atm I use wifi tether and by sheer luck it works in AP mode, vs adhoc, which I much prefer. Also any particular big pros to rooting besides jellybean? I only really rooted my revolution to remove bloat, extend battery and use wifi tether. Afaik with the nexus, there's no particular bloat being vanilla android, battery is more solid than my phone, and if that tether trick works then no root needed for that with what I'm reading.

DON'T BUY SKETCHY BATTERIES!!!
Buy only genuine Samsung extended battery or from a somewhat legit company, like Mugen power.
Sketchy batteries present a high risk of breaking your phone.

I personally have taken my phone under water using a generic water proof bag. They were 3 for $10 USD. the only problem I had was if the water put pressure on the screen it would go crazy..... I just added more air to it and held it so I had to push through the air to select what I want. Ie picture or video

Well but the skin is definetely not made for a daily use i reckon, I mean to make sure it is 100% waterproof you always have to use a new strip of sealing tape after charging, right?
Would be good to have a modified battery cover for contactless charging. I´m starting to work on a diving base for the next 2 months, and would be good to have something covering my GNx from water.

This is true. The lifeproof case cost over a million USD to develop, and they lucked out that the iPhone 4s was compatible. Not nearly enough people own enough Gnex to make it profitable, plus the GSM would need a completely different case from the LTE. FInally, my own experience with the case sucked. You can only take it off/on 50x before it breaks (not waterproof) and it destroys sensitivity. It's something you only want when theres water around, but you can only take it off/on 50x which sucks. Also, you have to test it every time before you submerge it. The waterproof bags are way better IMO.
Sure do hope they change their minds. I have never used cases from anyone else.

kinda like how Apple pays game developers not to release their games on Android, and keep it an iOS exclusive. (a sad tactic btw)

iPhones = sell 20 million devices (probably a lot more, actually) easily, and a metric frakton of Otterboxes.
Nexus = sell a rather paltry number, no big sales except right when it first becomes available, no long term ecosphere behind it even in spite of it being a solid device, etc.
I mean really, go to any store, anywhere - Best Buy, Fry's, MicroCenter, Sears, hell even a 7-11 - and you'll find stuff for the iPhones but you won't find diddly Jack Squat for anything else. It's sad that this is how the world operates but, that's how the world operates.
