If Google's gonna keep this up, they'll COMPLETELY win back any Market customers they might have lost to Amazon.
Nice move, Google:
"Instead of 1 free app, wouldn't you rather choose from a dozen apps that only cost a dime?"
Um...
Yes.
I love how sometimes it's the simplest ideas that work.
Got 5 new apps for $.50 and they look like pretty decent time wasters. Very nice.

To celebrate this milestone, we partnered with some of the Android developers who contributed to this milestone to make a bunch of great Android apps available at an amazing price. Starting today for the next 10 days, we’ll have a new set of awesome apps available each day for only 10 cents each.

I was playing around with Paper Camera today. Holy crap that's such a cool app. How did I not know about it?
There are some good apps on there. That Sketchbook app isn't cheap either. I had to grab most of the ones I didn't already have. Thanks OP!

Oooh. Minecraft.
Thank you so much, never would have looked! Ended up getting 5 applications.

Ran across this sale by accident.
Anyway, it looks like they are going to have 10 apps for $.10 for ten days.
Pretty cool.
Also, it looks like some of these apps were also offered as free from Amazon. I almost got Paper Camera and Sketchbook Mobile again until I checked my Amazon apps list. That's $.20 saved for 2 more apps tomorrow
Amazon drm sucks. So I just bought paper camera for 10 cents

How does Google handle the uploading of mp3s that were not legally purchased? I've read articles saying that Google will remove such files from its cloud storage. Lets say I have a "friend" who happened to upload around 4,000 songs to Google Music about a month ago. So far, nothing has been removed or flagged. Is there any truth to the below statement, or is Google just covering it's rear against the RIAA?
"Google has a variety of tools at its disposal to identify illegal files. Via a method known as digital music watermarking, record companies can encode files with a variety information, including when and where the song was purchased..."

When i upload my songs i dont delete the local files, that way i have a backup
So, if I (legally) download an album and encode to, say, wma for my own collection thus removing any 'digital watermarking' that may have been on it. Or, even just ripping a cd? Or copyright free music (such as my own personal band, say)? Google then flags these as being 'fallen off a truck'? I bet they're just coving their arses as I don't see how that could properly work.
I had about 11,000 up right when it started. A few months in, I noticed the songs I was listening to most frequently (and I suppose were most popular at that time) were disappearing. I feel like most of the music I was actively listening to disappeared. Which is a shame because I loved the service.. but nothing happened and I wasn't contacted at all.
Waiting for spotify to come to Canada.
Is Google music available outside the US? Maybe that's why?

Some of my music came from "my days in college where bandwidth was plentiful and the WiFi flowed like milk and honey".
Not one song is missing and most of it (purchased and "collegiate") was uploaded in May.

Yes and no. You only need to be in the USA (or use a proxy based in the USA) when you create your account. Google is your friend (search for info on Google).
How can Google tell if something is legal or not? If I buy an MP3 album, there'll be nothing to say it's legally bought or not?
Google can't enforce it at all unless they know it's an unreleased track - but being a DJ I can get music months in advance to promo so that covers me for that as well
please do not bash me, I was thinking of going over to the dark side and use itunes music match to:
1. they claim to "put the music back on the truck", i do not think this matters since i have the music anyhow. Would this trick ensure that google with not have issues in the future with "off the truck music"???
2. main reason; upgrade all my music to 256AAC, then convert them back to 256mp3(or ogg). Most of my music is 128-196 bit rate. For 25$ this will update most of my music to a higher bitrate(maybe??)
then reformat or burn my pc to remove itunes.
What do you guys think?
lol +1 for the thread title. lol

Reasons like these are why we have to worry about SOPA/PIPA
Why do you even need 8000 songs when we have streaming now???
Some people still like to have their own copy of the music, me especially as it's be hard to DJ without the music
I have bittorrented 320, flac, and wav files of records I have spent over 5000 on. I have no intention of using cloud service with att, but they can't legally delete that because I own copies.

As a law student, I should say that the popular notion about what SOPA does isn't, strictly speaking, accurate.
Violating digital copyright laws is, and has been, illegal. Its been that way long before i was born. SOPA, by and large, deals with foreign violations of US copyright laws.

I can tell you that Google Music didn't upload all of my music. In fact, it didn't upload most of it and I download whole CD rips.

Yes, but the Foreign Violators are feeding the US with copyrighted material.
I'd think google might do a hash check for known illegal copies.
amazon and google music uploaded about 10-20% of my total library
it did it selectively for SONGS too.. not just albums...
i.e., an album of 13 songs, genetically from the same rip, maybe 4 songs would be uplaoded
it seems quasi-random

I was reading on myPulse App app, and noticed that Sammy had put out a new App called MILK MUSIC...
Samsung unveils an iTunes Radio rival that won’t annoy you with ads
Actually works perfect on my Note 2 Thanks Samsung...:good::good:
Samsung announced on Friday that it has officially entered the music streaming market with a brand new app on Google Play called Milk Music. Milk Music is a radio service much like Pandora, but will be exclusive to Galaxy devices. Best of all, Milk is completely ad-free without any subscription fee to speak of. You are still limited to six skips an hour on any given station, but according to Samsung, you’ll never hear an ad on Milk Music.
Although you are free to create your own station based on a favorite artist or song, Milk’s primary feature is a large dial that dominates the home screen. The dial lists nine genres, and after you decide on a genre, you can fine-tune your station to include new music, popular music or music you’ve favorited in the past. You can even personalize the dial to include only the genre that you plan on listening to. If you can’t be bothered to deal with genre stations, the app also features a “Spotlight” section curated by “music tastemakers and influencers.”
Milk Music is now available onGoogle Play.
Or you can download it Here

With no log-in required and no need to think of a specific artist, song name or browsing through a list of choices, you can just starting listening to music instantly. From Pop to Jazz and everything in between, the dial displays up to nine genre-based stations featuring a wide variety of music listening choices, with a simple and quick turn of the dial.
More of the Music You Love:

In addition, the “Spotlight” feature offers a continuous curated selection of songs and albums handpicked by music tastemakers and influencers. “My Stations” allows you to create personal stations based on your favorite songs and albums, easily accessible on the dial, providing limitless listening options. Milk also allows you six song skips per hour per station.
Your Music Your Way:
Samsung is delivering an incredibly personalized experience by offering users many ways to fine-tune Milk to suit their individual listening preferences. The dial is customizable to showcase only the genres that are most relevant to your personal tastes and preferences. Offering more personalization options, the “Fine-Tune Station” feature allows you to adjust the genre-based station based on popularity, novelty and song favorites to further optimize recommendations for the best personalized listening experience.

I love this app. I use my phone for music on a daily basis and since I've gotten milk, I haven't touched Pandora. It seems like it has millions more songs than Pandora and a bigger selection of sub genres. It doesn't have comedy stations which is kind of a bummer though. The dial takes a little getting used to and it would be easier if you could customize it with just the sub genres you like. You almost have to memorize the numbers of the ones you like. I wish it would give album info too. You also get a lot of skips. I think like 6 an hour but you get them back if you change stations. the buttons on the widget could be a little bigger too, it's hard to mess with while driving.
