Acer Iconia A100 3.2 honeycomb bootanimation location - Acer Iconia Tab A100

can someone please tell me where the bootanimation.zip folder is? I've looked in data/ but no local folder? Ive found one in system/bin? I've tried esrooted explorer and adb pull/push to data/loca and it saya no such file or directory? I cant seem to replace the one i found in system/bin. My tab is rooted and im no newb but thisone has me stumped. I might try adb for the system/bin but i thought I'd ask first. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Just place it in data/local and change the permissions.. There is no boot animation file there to replace.
No idea how to add sound to it, found a bootsound.wav file and replaced it but no go

[Q] Make a BootAnimation

Hi, everybody....
I've just edit a bootanimation.zip file, but It doesn't work. I use Nexus Prime bootanimation.zip, then I open it with WinRAR. I replace all *.jpg files that comes with Nexus prime bootanimation file by drag N drop several image file with .jpg extension. I also make sure that the file's name is same with Nexus Prime image.
After replacing, I send the new bootanimation to SD card, moving it to System/Media by using Root Explore, then Reboot my phone...
But, I don't see bootanimation while the phone's wake up...
Any solution??
Is the compression the same as the originals?
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Emmm.... I don't know about that... I've just replace the original image files with mine... Then just click "Ok". Am I wrong??
Hurm.
open original bootanimation using winrar,
make sure the file name and resolution that you are using same as the original inside the zip.
Now just drag and drop your file to the bootanimation.zip, it will overwrite the original file inside the. Zip.
Close zip and copy to sd, and place it in the right place. Set the permission if im not mistaken 6-4-4 or rw-r--r-- .
Now reboot and see if it boot using you custom animation.
But aren't bootanimation only in. Png format??
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
Hai Nujhum... Yeah, right... I've done it before... Same with what you say...
Maybe try using something like 7-zip. I know for fact that WinRar sometimes changes something in the header of the file and even though it's ZIP file not all un-zip utilities can extract it.

Upload here I meant.

Cannot move files to the system directory.

I downloaded a new boot animation. I'm trying to move it to /system/customize/resourses but es file explorer and Astros say file cannot be moved. I was able to move the original file out. Now I can't even move the original back. In ES I made sure the root explorer and mount file system boxes are checked. I have the permissions checked but still nothing can be moved in.

I've never used adv to do this. Is there a how to somewhere?

Use Root Explorer. So worth the $2. I don't use astro or ES, but if you can't copy or move anything in or from the root directory then / is probably not mounted as r/w. Look for an option while in the root directory that says "mount as r/w"
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
Yep root explorer is your best option. adb push can be used to, but its command line only.
Well I know what caused me to have this issue but I do not know the details why.
I was running the Mikrunny Odex ROM with the Red theme. I wanted to give the Coredroid theme a try so I installed the theme and this issue started. After many hours of trying to fix this I restored my backup from a couple weeks ago that has the red theme and all is good again. To reduplicate the issue I reinstalled the Coredroid theme and the issue returned.
I use es file explorer and i have no issues moving things to the system folders whenever I want. If its not working you may try to uninstall and reinstall the app and then go to the settings and make sure you check browse as root and mount system as r/w.

Yep, did that too. I think it had something to do with a theme I installed. When I restored a previous backup I could use ES just fine to move the boot animation file.

[MOD] Windows Phone 7 Tick Sound AT&T / T-Mo

I customized the UI sounds for the SGS3: Tick Effect & Keyboard sounds with that of WP7 tick sound and customized the camera / video button sound, etc.
Make sure you rename your stock UI sounds (Example: *tick_effect) before you over-right them.
Upzip / copy and paste in: System>Media>Audio>ui

What seems to be the prob? Just download the zip to your sdcard, unzip it, open root explorer, copy and paste the apk's you want to install and copy and paste them in: Root/System/app
Should be it. *might have to install it and or change permissions*
Awesome! I had to turn off the touch clicks and, since I hate haptic feedback, it's nice to be able to regain some response in the phone's UI.
Thanks.
If you want to further customize your UI to resemble WP7 here is the font.
Should be able to just install the apk and go to settings display and set font.http://db.tt/Wmgm3nST

when i try to rename the stock ui sounds so i can ad the new ones root explore says something about bricking my device lol can anyone give me the steps to do this correctly
Use root explorer, make the directory r/w, copy the sounds into system / media / audio / ui folder.... You will (or should be if you are doing it right) be overwriting pre existing files. Once done and you have overwritten the sounds you wanted to change, reboot phone.
You may need to rename the file if you want it represent/be used for another function. For example, inside the zip file there is a file names backspace.ogg..... Say you want to use it for the TW_touch.ogg sound.... You will need to rename it and all that. Only problem is by the time you cuztomize things to the way you like, a new updated rom is put out and you have to do it again!

It's just warning you because you are editing system settings. Renaming anything in the specified folder won't cause any damage.

Use Root Explorer, other file managers won't have permission to change system files. With Root Explorer you will also need to select Mount R/W to be able to write to the system folder.
Make sure you rename all the original files if you ever want to use the original sounds again...I just went back to AOSP lock/unlock sounds, the WP7 sound was a bit sharp.
all worked as soon as i got root explorer thanks guys, am dissapointed though as i am looking to get away from the drip and water sounds, i guess i want a more iphone like sound for typing and lock and unlock without having the iphone....any ideas

I assure you, you wont brick your device from just renaming a sound file. I do it all the time. Maybe its for when you try and rename a needed framework or system file.

Don't know what ROM you are on... your knowledge of pushing apps to /system (ie., via adb), etc., so I'm attaching the stock samsung keyboard (plain grey) with auto-correct functionality. You need to be rooted at least. Copy the attached apk to your phone... then, using your favorite root file manager (like Root Explorer, etc) copy to /system folder first... fix permissions to rw.r..r.. then, MOVE to /system/app. It will ask if you want to replace the current "SamsungIME.apk", answer yes. You should be good to go.

Those are folders/files in the flashable zip. Let's try the simpliest approach first.
1. Download "Root Explorer (File Manager) from the PlayStore, and install
2. From my post #6 above, save the attached file (SamsungIME.apk)... on your phone's sdcard
3. Open Root Explorer, and navigate to the folder on your phone (sdcard) where you put the SamsungIME.apk... long press it, then select "Copy"
4. now while still within Root Explorer, navigate to /system folder, and hit "Paste" (make sure you mount as R/W.. it's the button at the top. If you are mounted as Read Only, you'll get an error message "You cannot past here because the file system is read only". Just hit the "Mount R/W" toggle at the top of screen.
5. Now, "SamsungIME.apk" is in your /system folder. You need to fix permissions. Long press "SamsungIME.apk" and select "Permissions". There are boxes with green check marks. toggle the boxes so that you only have green check marks in: Owner: R W ; Group: R ; Others: R. Hit "OK"
6. Now, long press "SamsungIME.apk" file again, and select "Move"
7. Navigate to /system/app (you should already be in /system, so just tap the "app" folder
8. Make sure you are still mounted as "R/W", if so, tap the "Paste" key at bottom. this will put "SamsungIME.apk" in the /system/app folder
9. if you did all this correctly, you should be good to go...

It appears you are not understanding some of the android basics...and that can be extremely dangerous... especially since you are rooted. From you screenshot, you show zip files in your /system folder. Per my previous post, I stated to copy "SamsungIME.apk" to /system... fix permissions... then MOVE to /system/app. Your screenshot shows zip files in your /system folder (i.e., "SamsungIME.zip"). My attachment is the apk file itself. So apparently when you downloaded, it zipped it for compression purposes. YOU NEED THE APK. I suspect it is inside that zip file.. so you'll need to know how to unzip that zip.. and get the ".apk" The APKs goes into the /system/app folder (Not /system). Try again, and get the SamsungIME.apk out of that zip... copy that apk to /system.. fix permissions... then move (not copy) to /system/app (it's a sub folder within /system). If this didn't work, you have done something wrong.
Damn I had the feeling some was wrong. So should I get that out of the system folder? How do I do that ? I cant delete or move them. Does it harm if I leave them there? Ya im trying that now how yiu explained the apk I get it . Thanks alot tho for ur patients

I use Root Explorer... if you long press the file, you get the option to delete file. Delete the ".zip" files in /system folder. Your screenshot looks like ES File Explorer (or something similar). You should be able to "select" that zip file, then delete. Go back to my Post#6 and download the APK file (SamsumgIME.apk)... do not zip it... you should be able to download file as apk. Then follow my previous instructions. Again, get the APK file (not .zip) to /system folder.... then fix permissions... then MOVE (don't copy or you will leave a copy of the apk behind in /system) to /system/app folder. System apk files belong in the app subfolder of system (/system/app). When you go to paste the apk in /system/app, you will be asked to replace existing file... replace it. Try again... report back.
Ok thanks will do that tomorow . I use es explorer yes. When I try to delete it says file cannot be deleted. Cant see any apk file I use windows 8 maybe tahts why?

Have you tried just making your audio into .ogg file type and pushing into place?
Steps:
Make or get the sound you want to use.
Get Audacity (free program) on your computer.
Use Audacity to export your desired audio into "ogg" format.
Name the file PowerOn.ogg.
In your phone, go to system/media/audio/ui/ folder... if PowerOn.ogg is there, rename it in case you want it back. Then push your newly created PowerOn.ogg file into that location, make sure the file permissions are the same as the others in that folder, and reboot.
Does this work?

Hmm. Did you name the file PowerOn.ogg? I believe it's case sensitive, so if poweron.ogg was what you tried, retry with PowerOn.ogg... Last idea: I don't have a ROM to look at, but you can search or someone can reply to confirm that's the right destination folder for PowerOn.ogg in AOSP JB, or just try a few others - system/etc/ or up in system/media/ where bootanimation, zip should be. That's all I've got. Good luck, bud.
Just tried that. No power on there but even when placed it still doesn't work. I changed permissions as advised, still no $. I'm running slim bean btw
