It would seem that there are an awful lot of new threads on the subject, perhaps we could concentrate all the issues that we have with it (no matter which flavour) in one thread, can be this one or another, I don't mind but I think it should be done, would tidy things up a little.
Anyway, reason for starting this one is to try and collate all of the issues that we have with it, you never know, people in the right places may listen, but then again, pigs might fly, but it's the thought that counts! lol.
Generally
I like the update, I like using Sense 2.5 with the new twitter tab and the new programme buttons on the home screen, Facebook seems a little more integrated and I like that fact you have to dig a little deeper to get to WM.
However;
Home Screen
Weather animation is slow and laggy if;
a) You have more than 3 programmes added or;
b) More that one contact added
However, if the clock is minimised and all programme tabs visible, the animations are as good ad the demo and weather tab. Very annoying!!!!
Contacts
I like the new People shortcuts, but the fluidity of scrolling is rubbish, it's very jerky.
Open a contact and then tap edit, way too slow to open up and edit, perhaps 3-4 seconds. In real time, that's not a lot, but it is when using a phone. Then tap save, WTF! this takes even longer and it would appear to be even worse when you link your profile to FB, it's to the point of being painful.
This is just as bad if you tap on Menu and the edit.
Update and Events
Well, installed the 'hotfix' for FB Albums; guess what? It doesn't work, I still cannot seen any pictures in any album. I even wiped the ROM and started completeyl fresh to see if that was causing issues, but nope, still doesn't work.
I'm not overly happy that adding people to my favourites adds notes to each person and addes them to the HTC Favourites Group. We never needed that with Sense 2.1 so why now?
I thought that perhaps the issues I have with the Contacts is because I have over 700. Nope, doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference how many or few you have, still get the same issues.
Messaging
I like the HTC SMS Client, it's starting to grow on me..... just. However,
When replying to a sms in landscape with the keyboard exposed, tap the menu softkey and then try and use the keyboard up and down arrows. Gues what, you cant! Very annoying.
I also cannot see how I can add the little pop up that tells me the sms has been sent. Now I know that most people on here don't like that, but I did, maybe I'm wired.
I also don't like it that the delivery report forms part of the treaded message as opposed to being separate - maybe that's mee being too fussy.
Calendar
I like the calendar it looks cleaner although the one big annoyance is the agenda view. No matter if I tap on the event from the home page or from the sliding menu at the bottom, the agenda view taks a good 5 seconds to load - outrageous! lol.
Twitter tab
Again, I like the twitter tab but, on a few occaisions, without any prior warning, all tweets disappear!?! hhmmmmm
Settings tab
For me, the Sound & Display menu is a little slow at showing but it's not too bad.
Other Issues
SOD - (Standby of Death) Only ever experienced this once and have no idea what caused it.
Radio 4.49.25.91 - Sometimes, when I travel through a bad signal area, the radio with not 'refresh' it's self and run through the signal search loop, it just sits there and sits there with the exclamation mark until I manually turn the radio off and back on again. Never had this issue with 4.49.25.17.
Finally, to ensure that the issues highlighted above were not due to remnants of previous ROM files hanging behind ofter flashing, I ran Task29 on the device to ensure that the ROM storage was clear and cleaned of any rubbish and freshly installed 2.07.401.1.
After all that, I genuinely do like this ROM and I guess these are just annoying niggles but you can only take so much. Am I going to revert back to WM 6.5 with Sense 2.1, only time will tell.
Agree with pretty much all you have said. Specifically
1 important to concentrate all all issues with this ROM in one thread
2 these are some key other threads on XDA that I think are relevant with issues from this ROM, at least can be referred to from here :

3 SOD is the biggest issue for me. Happens frequently during the day. HTC want me to send the device for repair, but I do not believe this to be a hardware issue. Phone has functioned perfectly since new in May 2009, SOD has only arisen on moving to this March 18th ROM
4 HTC posting data in our Contacts : terrible. This was certainly the cause of lock ups I had when first installing the ROM as that data got more and more corrupted.
5 I cannot get Facebook auto update working. I have about 1,000 contacts, about 50 of them synced to Facebook
6 Twitter does not fully update for me
7 Overall, when it works, I think Sense 2.5 is very good. I haven't had any issues with the SMS client which I think is a very good improvement over 2.1
8 as it stands, phone is unusable. I cannot rely on it for people to contact me as it is often SOD. A phone that people can't ring? That's not progress
9 Facebook albums - doesn't work, have never been able to get this working. Link to patch on HTC Europe website is broken, do HTC know?
Come on HTC, accept that you have an issue, agree to investigate and fix it.
Am in the UK, unlocked, unbranded phone, I use O2.
Calendar
The slowness in the Agenda seems to be negatively influenced by having all-day, and/or recurring appointments.
One thing I noticed is that when editing a single occurrence of an recurring appointment, you can change the time, but not the date of the occurrence (which is possible in the default client).
Messaging
Although I like the messaging app, it takes an awful long time to load one thread. Why didn't they implement this the same way as the default client (limited number of messages shown, with a link to "older messages")?
Other issues
Memory usage is ok after a soft reset (around 50%), but after a day of use it easily reaches 75-80%, even with all programs closed.

I concur with that. That's going to be a bit of a problem for me as I have several re-ocurring appointments.
I have issues with the new rom also.
I have the same issues you have. In addition my speakerphone function doesn't work most of the time. I have to turn it of and back on again and sometimes even redial.

Personally, I haven't noticed any difference with previous ROM's in this respect.
Hmm. Seems after a soft reset file activity is better now.
Wow, editing favorite contacts is really slow. I added a few lines to the notes of one of my favorites, and it took literally 5 minutes to get back to the Home screen.
For me it helped reflashing the ROM; flash the Sense 2.5 ROM and then immediately flash it again. Made it slightly more responsive. Other than that, I have the same issues as you do.
Contacted HTC about it and they told me UPS should pick up the phone since it's a hardware problem... Yeah right.
For me the most annoying part is the speaker phone issue, annoying when ppl can't hear me.
I've contacted support through HTC's website. I've putted in 4 problems and got an awnser on 2.
The speaker problem is a hardware failure according to the support desk. Such a nonsens!
This ROM is broken and they should fix it!

That's not really an issue; that's how the new Sense is designed. If you want it back, look for C00kie's Home Tab Mod.

They told me that as well, wanted me to ship them the phone by UPS since it was a hardware problem... even though I told them lots of others have that problem with 2.5 and that it was JUST FINE before upgrading.
Found errors and one worth to add, too.
Error - Calendar:
I've tried to insert a birthday reminder in July 20th, and set it up for "ever July 20th" but i wont listet in July, the reason is, its added in april, i think its the current Month, seems to like an variableerror or an programmingerror. Defently worth to fix.
Worth to add - General / Shortlinks:
A shortlink to settingstab/menu, its annoying to have 5 tabs to access the real options + the loading time of the differnt tabs/menus.
Optional - Found something helpful - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285366
Very worth to add - Onlinerules (maybe there is a programm that provides this):
It's annoying when i at home that, in the second i tab on the power button my w-lan and bei umtsmodule begins to initiate simultanly an internet connection, there could be some rule, w-lan before umts or something, the device got A-GPS, maybe set a home zone where the UMTS lets the w-lan the higher priority and get into the internet. But i've always use the shortcut FN+Commandcenter(rightkey) to deactivate the UMTS, because i doenst recognize that the wlan is 5 times faster.
Maybe we could all errors to the first post, for a better overview.

Find Duttys Task Manager for Leo, install and it should work, but, it cuoldnt close all apps(opera, AS,etc) so you have to check it with builtin task manager from time to time to really close them.

Completely agree with all in the above post, especially the SOD which is completely random on my device which is only 3 weeks old (bought from clove and shipped with the latest official HTC ROM) I have been naggin my boss to buy me a tp2 for months as my tytn2 was becoming unreliable and now i find the tp2 even worse, even though im a die hard HTC fan i fear i might have to consider sending the device back and getting a blackberry as this is totally unacceptable for a business tool. Have also reported the issue to HTC to which i got a reply of "try a hard reset" which isnt very good when the device was only 4days old at the time.

That your new phone is SOD'ing is very bad news indeed. Mine is heading back to HTC tomorrow, quite why I don't know as categorically the issues are with the March 18th ROM. Have simply lost the will to live in corresponding with HTC's "technical support".
Technical support, my arse.
Right - let us try and be constructive.
My TP2 which works flawlessly with ROM's up to March 18th
It has only ever had HTC stock ROM's
it was bought unlocked and unbranded from Clove in May 2009. I am on O2
It has a 6 Gb Micro SD card
I have never used HardSPL
I use Commontime mSuite software to link the TP2 with our Lotus Notes installation, syncing Contacts, email and calendar
even without installing any software whatsoever on top of March 18th ROM I have had SOD
Sense 2.5 places unauthorised (by me!) data in the Comments field of your contacts with details of Facebook & favourites Sense entries. This data gets appended to the Comments field in Lotus Notes and renders that field corrupted.
In the 10 months between May 2009 and March 2010, I never had a single SOD incident. Since the March 18th ROM, I would get at least 6 SOD's per day. I do not feel that I am being Sherlock Holmes by suggesting that the SOD issue is linked exclusively to the March 18th ROM.
In sheer frustration and because I actually need to use the TP2, I recently reverted to the previous ROM. No SOD's.
Anyway, all you SOD'ers out there (or is it just me), what is the precise make up of your TP2, can we find anything in common?
Is anyone aware of or experiencing any problems with the android market?
I'm using a Stock UK Orange ROM. 25mb free internal space. Using Android market I can go through all the motions and tap install I get the message saying my item will be downloaded. The "downloading" bar appears and is animated, This happened last night. This morning the item had downloaded.
I thought that was the end of it but as I write this I've been waiting an hour for a clock widget to download.
Have also tried via appbrain but experience the same problem.
I can watch youtube videos and browse so I am online. Is there a hidden setting I might have misconfigured? or anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Since you have 25MB free, that is peculiar. Typically downloads get stuck in queue when space is low -- in which case you are getting a notification in the Notification Bar that you are "Getting Low on Empty Storage Space". In those cases remedy of course is to uninstall a few apps you rarely use. After you do that, the "Low on Storage Space" icon will clear, and the instant that it does, all of the downloads you had started -- but were all stuck in queue -- will now proceed -- instantly.
But in your case i don't know. Are you for certain NOT getting that icon notification? (just checking that's all)... Then this probably won't solve your case at all. THIS POST: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7663366&postcount=17
No worries.
The only thing in my notification bar is the icon for advanced task killer, and 1 Gmail notification.
I've uninstalled a couple more apps but that still hasn't forced a download. This has only happened in the past couple of days and it crossed my mind that google might have been tinkering, but i've read nothing of the sort.
Just been to the shop and back and in those 5 mins Tajam (the clock widget from my OP) has downloaded... I've just added a pinball game, but it hasn't downloaded...
Is it at all possible that an application has reserved space? As in I might have 25mb free but some app has reserved some of the free space on my handset?
Nobody else had this issue then?
Any thoughts on a solution? would a hard reset solve this?
Try to:
- start your google-talk-app
- use the menu-button to open the menu and sign-out!
- restart the google-talk-app
- use the menu-button to open the menu and sign-out!
usually, after the 2nd or third time you do that, the download-process begins...
edit: you should notice that the log-in-process of the google-talk-app takes some time, seeing the spinning wheel-symbol on the top-right... just ignore it, start the app, wait 5 seconds and sign-out, repeat...
Thanks for the reply but I dont have google talk installed.
I'm thinking a hard reset might be my only option but it's a pain, and now difficult to download any backup software.
Found this thread http://www.google.tm/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=57b5e3efa7477b50&hl=en
Started by a google employee, subsequently locked. Seems to be a recurring problem
I've the same issue, cancel/abort the download and start it again fixes the issue
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Hey,
I suffered from the same issue...
I literally tried every in the book but to no avail!
Eventually I had to add a file manager into a rom in order to manually download the apps from the internet and then install them onto my desire!
This is a repeat issue with the Android OS. It does go away after a while... Give it a day or two and it'll just literally stop with the issues.
Good luck friend
I had this issue last week and tried every trick I could to get things working again, even a hard/factory reset didn't work. From reviewing the thread you quoted from the Google support forums I got the impression that it was a Google account problem of some sort so before doing a second factory reset I changed from @googlemail to @gmail and for whatever reason after the hard reset this has done the trick.
Yes, I am having the same problem too and only started couple days ago... I can't download anything at the moment
Still no market downloads
After the froyo update for me, there's still no way
to update or download apps from the market.
I tried all the options now known:
Gtalk
Cache clearing
Factory reset
Etc.
What to do next???
I checked a few places and this seems to be a common problem. One thread on the market forums was started by a google employee, 400+ replies later the thread was marked as answered (which it clearly wasnt) Now the forums are becoming littered with posts on this same problem.
I've managed to sort it out. Settings>apps>market>clear cache>force close market>soft reset seemed to force any pending downloads.
But that wasnt really a solution, so had to export contacts to gmail. Change my googlemail account to a gmail account (as prompted when you login to Gmail in the UK.... then I had to perform a hard reset and make my Gmail account the primary google account on my handset.
Very annoying, and I'm in disbelief that google are SO aware of this and dont seem to be offering any help.
But for the time being it's working again. The suggestion on the market help forums is that the UK market is having problems with @googlemail accounts.
Well i never had the googlemail adress and i'm not from the UK, so there's more to
it then only that specific problem....
Pls advice....
None of the great developers here has an idea what's happening here or maybe a solution to this issue????
Pls help out guys?
Guys please advice, i'm just a bit desperate with this issue.
Nothing seems te help and google stays as silent that i lost faith they are going
to fix this....
Does this mean my DESIRE became useless??!??!?!
It's a bit temperamental to be honest, I left it at 'Starting Download' and sometimes it would start after a few hours and another time after about a day. Never used to be like this before. Google need to seriously take a look at this problem.
Sadly my downloads all just end in "failed" within 5 secs....
Had Problems downloading for a month
Hi All,
I have had this problem for about a month now. Never starts to download for me except if I do a factory reset then it downloads some apps between 3 and 22 apps before it hangs again. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy s I9000. Unlocked. I tried different SIM cards from different carriers and removing the SD memory. I can download from different places on the web like Samsung or one of the web sites that have the apps just not the market.
Has anyone else been having this problem for that long?
Regards

Same here. I usually leave the downloads "hanging" around. After 10 min. to a few hours, the downloads start.
Same with "Chrome to phone". Both apps use the GTalk service to send commands to the phone. Google broke something.
Since updating my phone to an official-based ROM, I've been having inexplicable awake time issues. However I never have any issues while using any release (nightly or RC1/2) of Cyanogenmod. Once my phone began to stop sleeping, the only way to fix it was to do a factory reset. Spare parts shows no partial wake issue at all, just that the android system was running 100% of the time.
I work in tech support, so I have extensive experience with troubleshooting issues such as the one that I was having. However, a week later with at least one factory reset a day, I still had no clue. I had even been keeping a journal of the things that I had been doing with my phone to find something to blame the problem on. The only thing that I found was that after a factory reset that the phone would work fine until the awake time got to between 1:30:00 and 1:45:00. Once it got there, the phone would stop sleeping.
Finally after doing some serious thinking, it became quite apparent that the only thing that really was consistent across every test was the google account that I had used when setting the phone up.
Now for a little background info: I was one of those guys that flashed Cyanogen's first nightly build along with the google apps that had been pulled from the N1. Upon signing into my google account after flashing that first nightnly, I received an email from google saying something about activating a N1 on my google account. This of course wasn't technically true, but google sure thought I had since I used the N1's g-apps. Unfortunately I deleted the email, so I don't know what all it said. However, when I go to my google account dashboard via a web browser on my computer, way down at the bottom there's an "other products" section. Under that section, I have an option for Google Nexus One. It isn't currently manageable via the dashboard, but Google definitely thinks that I've got a Nexus One and there's no way that I can find to remove those settings (if you know of a way to do it, I'm all ears).
So, yesterday the problem cropped up again right at about 1:40:00 of total awake time. When I did the reset, I decided to set up another google account just to see what would happen. With my phone signed into my new google account (which doesn't show a Nexus One in the dashboard) I'm not experiencing the non-sleeping issue.
So...... my conclusion is something like this: My guess is that Google thinks that my phone is an N1, and it probably has the N1 checking in with it at given intervals if it's associated with a gmail account. Since Cyanogenmod is based of AOSP, then that check-in (or whatever it is) runs just fine. However, when I go back to a ROM based on HTC's official release for the Evo, that check-in can't (or won't) happen. My guess is that this check-in mush be scheduled by Google at the time that the phone is attached to a Google account. Because of that, when the scheduled time comes, the process (either left out by HTC or HTC did something to keep it from running properly) causes the phone to fail to sleep since it's trying to run this background process.
Without knowing what the process is, how to stop it from running, or how to change the schedule that it runs on the only option that I can come up with is to use another google account (one that you haven't had a Cyanogen'ed Evo connected to) and see what happens. Since changing the account yesterday afternoon I'm up to almost three hours of total awake time and the non-sleeping issue still hasn't reared is head.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to give everyone enough background info so they wouldn't automatically say, "You've installed something from the market that is keeping your phone awake, dummy..."
so did this actually fix your problem? or no?
my phone hasn't been sleeping lately, and it's really starting to bug me. I can't figure out what on earth is keeping it awake!!!
any more info you found out or do find out, please post here! Thanks!
That TLR crap doesn't fly with me. Never apologize for a long post. Some of us really appreciate it when the OP puts time and effort into the information being posted. Thanks man, now I know what to look for if it happens to me.
Had the long awaited message pop up on my HD7 and Zune last night about the new update.
Proceeded to update on Zune then had an error message come up saying not enough space on my C drive on PC, needed MB but cleared 6GB. Restarted phone & PC but wouldn't continue.
Downloaded a fresh copy of Zune to another PC thats never had it. Ran it, found the update then Zune wanted to update itself after only downloading a new copy minutes ago.
Fine, started the update - 10 steps.
Got stuck on step 6 (i think, was phone reboot) and had message on phone saying connect to PC but was already connected.
OK, unplugged phone and started the whole process again. I have used around MB of space on phone so backup took some time.
Worked well through all steps, about 1+ hour.
Restarted phone, looked OK briefly but was very VERY slow and apps wouldn't open. Ages to go from one screen to another.
Got really frustrated as tiles weren't working either. Total [email protected] up.
Tried soft resets, no joy.
2am in the morning and need phone for work the next day.
SIM & battery out, no good.
Then, I noticed it had changed the time / date to 1980 (all my contacts / emails / content was all intact after update and didn't need to restore from backup).
Changed date manually to todays date and autodate didn't work.
Restarted phone and hey presto, all works fine now.
- Cut & Paste OK.
- Haven't noticed any speed improvements
- Feature on calendar - click on appointment and there is a button called LATE. Give you the option to SMS / Email organiser or attendees if you are running late. Nice touch.
- Changes in wi-fi
Anyone came across the above or any new features?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-gb/howto/wp7/new-features.aspx
Running HD7, O2 unlocked to Orange.
Yeah, I had that weird time and date problem, it seemed to push my date a week forward and set the time completely wrong. I also had to set these manually to fix it. Not sure why this happened but now some of my texts are out of order after sending and receiving a few message before noticing the wrong date, really annoying. But it is only a small problem so I suppose its not too bad.
I had the same issue when I applied the update via the Hungarian PPTP thing. Today I tried to do a rollback which sadly ****ed up my entire device. So I had to flash a stock ROM. After that was completed, I immediately recieved the update messages for february and march. Date worked fine and even the gradient issue was gone.
Not sure if anyone else has run into this problem since upgrading to Nougat but I wanted to throw it out there in case someone has noticed it or has any suggestions.
Every time I restart my phone, app permissions are reset. Notifications revert back to stock. Camera asks for storage permissions. Calendar needs access to accounts etc. It's hasn't gotten me frustrated enough to reflash but if anyone else has had this experience or has a suggestion I am willing to try it.
My HTC One M9 only recently got the Nougat update (within this month, March 2017). I too have been plagued with access permissions being randomly forgotten at start up. The most annoying being Gmail and Calendar, but I too have had Camera asking for them to be allowed too. Very very annoying.
Since the Nougat update I have had a strange problem with Gmail, even when permissions have been correctly set. The phone completely forgets the two Gmail accounts that I use. I decided to try to uninstall the app but it takes you back out of the updates to the factory installed level. Then when I tried to put my two Gmail accounts in the Google account option was frozen, just could not add them. I finally decided that HTC Sense might have something to do with it! So I disabled it, then re-enabled it and Gmail account setup suddenly responded with my two accounts already showing! So I have now gone to Google Play Store to download the latest Gmail updates and it all appears working. But for how long?
What has HTC done with its Nougat update? The phone was once stable, now its an unreliable mess!

Same issue same phone, I triedclearing cache from TWRP, doesn't work. Are you rooted? I am systemless root with Magisk, so I have a feeling it could be due to this.

Good to hear from you, especially as you are a fellow sufferer.
I have a stock phone, not rooted at all. Sadly I gave up my "nerd" hacking a few years ago. I prefer not to mess these days and stick with what the manufacturer supplies.
However, I still find it odd that no-one else has reported this, but you and I. I am now convinced there is a bug with HTC's tailoring of Nougat. And I believe the reason is that no-one reports it is because they leave their phone on all the time, even when charging. I always close the phone down at night and put it on charge overnight. It seems the complete restart triggers this behaviour. It doesn't do it every time though. I even wondered at some stage if it was simply app updates being applied, as the Gmail, Calendar and other popular apps are often being fiddled with (sorry, enhanced) by Google. However, I also have had the problem at start of day, even after no updates have been applied.
It is very annoying. I wonder if I should try never switching the phone off completely to see if the permissions remain then? What do you think?

So I found my issue was due to a encrypted SD Card which constantly resets permission. So what I did was I formatted my SD Card and replace with existing backed up data from the computer, and it worked.

I've noticed the issue, for sometime now and I've been updated to Nougat since day 1. My phone never sleeps so I didn't noticed. It's pretty annoying. Will try the SDCard formatting and see. I'll let know how it goes.
