Can you get 4g on stock with the incredible?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Don't believe so. Our phone does not have the chip nor can it handle the 4G capability. Not that the phones that offer 4G cam handle it too well either.

No. There is no way to get 4G on this phone.

Sorry to burst your bubble. But the captivate isn't 4G. The only 4G LTE phones VZW has now are the HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Droid Charge, and the LG Revolution.
I'm just waiting for a dual core LTE phone. But I'm in no hurry, upgrade isn't till middle of next year.

lol, i agree
but, no, the incredible is a 3G Smartphone, as it says on the box, no way to make it 4g connectable
as said before, Verizon does have another 4g phone on the way (the bionic) but, as of right now, they only have 3 on sale.

yeah but some people don't even know the first thing about the iPhone's operating system let alone android.
i just love how iPhone users come to me with my rooted droid inc, and all like "i have the 3 gees and i have the wifi, and stuff" and continue to blab about crap they have no idea how to work. i mean, if you have it, fine, just don't try to talk to me about the phone and "how it works, and i am a developer" when you don't even know how to make phonecalls on the damn thing.
Im switching services to sprint and looking to either get the nexus or the s3. All hardware specs aside which would most likely be the better choice..? From what I read it looks like the s3 is stuck in 3g while lte rolls out for sprint. Im leaning towards the nexus as its a pure android phone with no bloat on top of it. Would it be a smart choice to go with the gnex or get the s3 and wait for the 4g lte?

GNex is LTE too so you would be stuck on 3G either way. Sprint 3G is terrible in case you didn't already know.

3g isn't bad for me. It's an easy choice IMO. If you want access to the latest software, and want it to be fully functional, and stable, go Nexus. The GS3 doesn't have "that" much going for it over the Nexus.
Sent from my AOSP Android 4.1.1 Galaxy Nexus
"All hardware specs aside" makes it very simple. Galaxy Nexus hands down. But please get the GSM version to get the full benefit and all of the freedom from contracts, carrier restrictions, and official software delays.
If your not getting GSM nexus may as well get the better hardware. S3 would be my recommendation, though I'll personally stick with my GSM nexus.
That's my unbiased opinion, considering the forum your on you should know what most people will say.

Dont be lured by the unlimited marketing engine from Sprint. Their network is horrible. 3g is more like 2g at best and 4g is hit or miss. I imagine given their track record, LTE will be the same. Unlocked GNEX on T-mobile is the way to go! Thats what I did and couldnt be happier.

Bad 3G? It really all depends on location. Really if your not in an area where LTE will be very prevalent. Then go with the GSM. Otherwise you may want to reconsider the sprint nexus. I've seen people getting consistent 25+ Mbps. And just as much upload. That plus non throttled unlimited is heaven sent.

http://www.tmonews.com/2012/08/t-mo...unlimited-data-plan-thats-actually-unlimited/
At a time when Verizon and AT&T are charging more for Data, T-Mobile comes to the rescue with unlimited Data for $30 for Classic Plans and $20 for Value Plans.
<3 I am excited! I was actually considering switching to Sprint for truly unlimited data, but now that my beloved T-Mobile is getting it, I am never leaving!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The unlimited data plan does not allow tethering. This is a quite reasonable limitation in my opinion but even so I am sure it will be bypassed on rooted phones by Sept. 7th.
Its almost TOO good to be true. But Tmo does take out the included HotSpot Tether (easy work around for us here tho ). This + the iPhone5/LTE (hopefully for Tmo's sake) + HEAVY marketing (including improved network toting & great prices) will bring new customers in droves. Tmo needs this combo punch for the holiday season.
Also, does anyone know how to only test the 1900 HSPA+ band on the GNex instead of AWS/1700 HSPA+? Tmo has been working on HSPA+ over their 1900 band for some months now, and I want to see if any towers in and around Seattle are enabled yet.
Have not been this excited about something from tmo in a long time. Still waiting for a catch, but damn this will be epic. I get unlimited through my dealer line anyway, but will be awesome for my wife.

I noticed this as well and I have taken advantage a few times already. Comes in handy when I am on the phone in the car and I also need to fire up Navigation to get somewhere. That would not work on the Evo 4G unless I was connected to Wimax.

A little late to the party. It's called SVDO, which allows devices with CDMA radios to simultaneously use voice and data.
My understanding is that only the S3 and EVO LTE have the radios capable of doing this, whereas the Nexus LTE may not.
Gs3 and the Evo LTE has two radios antennas. One for voice & one for data. So I've heard. Let me know if I'm wrong tho

It's because they don't support SVDO on all towers and during high volumes, data is less prioritized so you may only get voice.

LMAO I wouldn't be surprised. I don't even bother going into their store to ask questions. Only to look at phones and when I'm approached by someone I tell them I'm fine because 99% of what they say is misinformation or flat out ridiculous. Last time I went I overheard one of the guys telling this lady who obviously knew nothing about phones that she should go with the Epic Touch 4G because the Galaxy Nexus "wasn't that good." Really? It was hard holding my tongue at that moment. Anyways sorry to get a little off topic but just had to let it out.
