I have the unlock code from vzw.my ? is if i try another simcard from another carrier do i have to pay something to verizon, because i have a contract with them.I just want to try a zim card from att. just for curious im not going to change my plan, I just want to try a friend simcard.
It should work w/ any carrier's SIM card, no fee to VZW required.

Ok, this is probably a stupid question but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere I look.
I got a SIM Unlock code from TMobile and everywhere I read the only way of entering it is to insert a non-TMO SIM.
I can't find my old AT&T SIM card to do this... So is there any way to get to enter the unlock code either without a SIM card at all or with the current TMO SIM?
I don't want to have to pester my friends to use their SIM cards.
Any ideas?

It has been a while since I did this, but I didn't have to change my SIM card to unlock my phone. It has been several years, and that was an HP phone...
However, maybe you could pick up a cheap one on ebay?

Bribe them maybe? LOL seriously though, you'll need to get your hands on a card from another carrier to make this happen in the TP2, just for a few seconds.
Could you maybe just provide the unlock code you have now to whoever will be using the phone with a different SIM, and let them handle that last step of unlocking?

That person would be me. I just like having it unlocked just in case. Even if I have no intention of switching providers yet.
But seriously, I don't understand why HTC did not implement an option to unlock a phone without physically switching SIM's. Oh well, I guess I will need to do that then.

Did you go over this with T-Mobile customer service? When I got my HP unlocked, there was a sequence I went through that caused the phone to ask me for the unlock code.
I think I just came across it...onslaught86 just posted over in the HD2 forums about a SIMLock app in the windows folder...run that and you should get the same screen you get if you put a different carrier's card in and boot the phone. Full credit def to onslaught...I had no idea such a thing existed

I hope this works, cause I'm in the exact same situation. I used to have an old T-Mobile prepaid SIM that I used just for this purpose, but apparently I've misplaced it. The Tilt 2 is at work, I'll try it first thing tomorrow.
Can i use my HTC Tilt 2 with straight talk or net10, or anything like that.. How?

You can use either one if you have your device SIM unlocked. All you have to do is pop in the new SIM, and you're good to go.

I've never used a GoPhone, or any prepaid service. I think you might need to activate the service on the prepaid phone, and then transfer the SIM to the Rhodium. I think you'll have to keep track of the minutes/units on the website for the service, if it's one of those pay-per-minute/unit services.
Anyway, as I mentioned, as long as your device is SIM unlocked, you should be able to use any SIM card from anywhere in the world in it without any problem.
Well like the name implies, I'm a noob. INC2 is my first smartphone, and it's been a learning process, but I'm comfortable with it. Either way, my service is currently cut off(by choice) there is a billing issue, and unless I stop being stubborn or they give my the credit I deserve I'm not paying.
Anyway it's been cut off a month, and I've still been using it over wifi just fine with 2.99 skype calling and text plus it's been no problem. Anyway, I took out the sim card and it's still working fine. Is that normal, even when I tried to make a call it sent me to Verizon cust. service like it normally does, and it still says in service in the settings.I was under the impression, that once the sim card is taken out nothing could be done with the phone. Can Verizon track what I'm doing without the sim card in? Or even when it is in and the GPS is turned off, can they track it?

To expand on that, your SIM isn't required to use the phone in the US on big red's network. CDMA carriers don't use SIM cards; GSM carriers do. The Inc2 is a dual mode/hybrid/whatever you want to call it because it has a CDMA radio for domestic use and a GSM radio for use abroad.
Sent from my DInc2 using XDA App
I hear that Gingerbread has been patched to support RUIM cards (CDMA SIMs) so with the patch you can run a RUIM. Then depending on whether you are on CDMA or GSM select, switch off, put in the corresponding card into the slot and start.
yea pulled mine out a long time ago...but keeping it just incase...
Is it possible for my friend then essentially to take my phone and throw his AT&T Sim in my phone and he is able to use it on there service? Or is there a SIM Unlock for instance when I'm in Thailand and don't want Verizon to charge me $1,000,000.00 just to make phone calls because normally i end up buying a cheap Nokia and SIM for only 50.00 and it lasts me for about 2 days on minutes when im overseas. I pretty much want to be able to use the SIM and not have Verizon charging me for International use when i'm using a different Carrier's SIM

The SIM is for foreign use for most of us in the US. I went to the UK recently, bought a $15 SIM card which gave me a new phone number over there, phone minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data. I got the unlock code from Verizon before I left. I was able to get the unlimited data by having a rooted phone and selecting my own APN settings.
I'll do the same later this year in Italy. Right now I am using a Virtuous Unity ROM which does not recognize SIM cards, but I'll just switch back to my stock Gingerbread ROM before I go.

The network provider has to give you that info. I got it from the company that rented me the European SIM card. I used iPhoneTrip.com, for what it's worth. Good coverage and no sneaky charges after the trip was over.

Call Verizon
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
Hello,
just out of the blue my phone can't make any calls or texts. It keeps failing on either of those two, occasionally, I could get one text or call to go through and then it stops working again. I checked and there was full signal at the time, IMEI is still there. I flashed leaked jb roms and cm10 and they both have problems. But the sim when inserted into my unlocked one x works just fine. Does anybody know how I can fix this problem?
Thanks,

depends does it read other sims but not yours? does it not read any sims at all? you can break it down from there.
Im new to this phone
So the original carrier is Claro PR. I have succesfully unlocked the phone cause im using AT&T SIM on it and it has signal and all but it wont make/recieve calls, nor text and wont go on the internet.
Anyone have had this happen before on unlocked phone? I was thinking on rootinh it and throwing a AT&T rom to see if it fixes it but im asking first before trying anything that can brick it
Did you unlock it using the free method or by a code?
For data, did you check the APN settings? Under network preferences, did you select auto? Are you sure the SIM is registered on the network?
