[Q] Will changing soft, affect simlock? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hiya, I have a question here.
I have an HTC:Wildfire ViginMobile Locked.
I would like to use my o2 SimCard.
I know I can get the code, but they are pretty expensive, so I'm looking for different way to unlock my phone.
Will changing the software of my phone affect simlock?
I really need to get rid of it.
Thanks in advance
CaptainFuSioN

Hey-
Mine is also on Virgin UK and when I downgraded for revolutionary to HBOOT 1.00.001, it prompted me at first boot which network I was on, so it might work if you put your O2 Sim in it, not sure though

Free Unlock HTC Wildfire?

Hi guys,
I plan to buy a HTC Wildfire for my brother but unfortunately, the phone is Network Locked.
Is there any change we have a program or something that would unlock it for free?
I really don't trust the sites a la : www.unlockyourphone.com ... and Vodafone won't unlock it for free.
Thanks and really looking for an answer.
Best Regards,
DH
I bought mine from Vodafone and they unlocked it for free, on the spot. I did not extend my contract with them, I just bought the phone.
P.S: I`m from Romania.

If u are in the uk, get it from somewhere like carphone (all their phones are unlocked and debranded) or sim free from expansys
Did you manage to unlock your phone? I also have a Vodafone romania locked wildfire and don't know what to do about it. Thanks.
Vodafone unlock contract sims for free.
Will only unlock free paygo if the older than 1 year.
You'll have to pay.
I used htccode. No problems.

I am with Vodafone on 30 days contract sim only and I bought my wildfire on pay as you go. I phoned customer services and they unlocked for me free of charge.

Free Unlocking is not possible to get for the Latest Phones,So i suggest you to get the paid unlock code to unlock the Phone from Network lock, that is best than using the Unlocking programs and software......You can get the Unlock code from here
Mobileunlocksolutions.com and unlock this is trust-able source..............

Hi you can unlock your mobile by unlock codes and for codes you can try Mobileunlocksolutions and get codes to unlock your mobile..
Hy guys,
First time writing on the forum. I'm from Romania and i have an HTC wildfire locked on vodafone .
I bouught a code from gsmliberty.net...and and and..nope it didn't work...i spent last 3 days chating with them and leaving tickets to the suport team but not any luck iuntill now.
The thind is that after i insert the unlock code under the sim unlock pin message ..it apears an error message that says "incorrect password".
Now..i'ce checked the security under settings and deselect every password that i found including here SIM pass , unlock password , unlock path...everithing i could...but still nothing
Could enyone give me a piece of advice ?
Thank's in advance
For now i cannot say "Sent from my HTC Wildfire"

Complete lie. Both the HTC Desire and the HTC Desire Z can be sim unlocked for free.
Its a shame noone has dedicated some time as there problably is a free way for the Wildfire as well.
We need a version for wildfire
there is a tool "Universal sim unlock for S-off’ed HTC devices" but it doesn't work for wildfire, maybe a hope for the next future, look at sieempi dot eu blog
Doesn't the HTC dev website give you an unlock code for free?

as far as i know htc dev will only allow for custom roms to be used and custom recovery to be put on. will not remove sim lock, carriers would go nuts if it did.
Yes it says in the frequently asked questions that radio and sim lock are still locked and it will still say s on, sim lock is a carrier issue if they unlocked it carriers would kick off as they wouldn't be able to use they're branding effectively.
And radio still being locked might cause problems for cm7 users.

I heard that you could call your carrier to give you the code to unlock your phone, but 3 wouldn't do it unless the phone was on another network and I was joining them. I'm on o2 and wanted to remove 3'a Sim lock, but no joy. could have tried my carrier to.

i went to a phone unlocking shop and they did it there and then for a tenner. also, if you can get your hands on a xtc clip you can s-off and remove sim lock

help with 2nd hand wildfire s problem

I am on o2
bought a 2nd hand wildfire s on t mobile
bought an unlock code from HTCimeiUnlock which came through.
unlock code seemed to work can use access phone with o2 sim.
cant register on o2 network says "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
Sim works totally fine in my o2 x10 mini pro.
and a t-mobile sim works fine in the wildfire s
thinking it mght be banned from o2 or the unlock code doesnt work
*Tried manually putting in APN detail and still nothing
Hello, I have the same issue, did you ever manage to solve this?
Sadly it seems that you have been swindled. Try looking for a XTC Clip(That S-OFF's your phone and also UNLOCK the SIM lock of the phone)
ok, swindled how? do you mean its not unlocked?? and for a beginner...xtc clip?
XTC Clip is a device that unlocks your phone security (which includes sim unlock), and that would be better than buying any codes from around internet ... You may go find it in some shop, maybe they do unlocking via xtc clip, OR buy a device unlock phone, and then resell it ?

If around where you live there are people in your city centre selling phone cases for about £5 with trolleys ask them if they do a phone unlock. The place is crawling with them in Cardiff.

You need to do it in person. Did you google XTC Clip? It's really your friend...Even as a "beginner".
ok, so im going to go to the shop ( a different one today and try) myself...as for the xtc clip...i had a look but really wasnt sure how to make it work...
i think really that this may be a forum for people who know what they are doing..sorry... but thanks for the help.
Any other ideas let me know but thanks
ok, so here we go...
Went to the shop and they say the phone is unlocked. When i put an o2 sim card in, it does not require a pin when the phone switches on.
It works with tmobile sim, orange, virgin just not o2....
so it is unlocked just wont take o2.....
any ideas why?
Have you talked to 02 about it? Your simcard might just be too old for the phone.....
sent from my android powered tank using xda premium B-)
already have got a brand new 3g o2 sim in ...just got it last week from o2....phone also works with virgin just seems to be o2....
why??? please help..

Stab in the dark this,
try removing sim, Sd & battery....
then hold volume down for 2 secs, and power on while holding it...
You should be at the bootloader screen, see if theres an option to clear simlock, press power button to do so if its not done already, then try your O2 sim, if it does not work im at a loss, I would say its IMEI banned if thats the case.....
ok - ko ka - did as you said, when i selected simlock i got the following...
fat 32 init ok
open mccmnc file fail
open cid file fail
process done, reboot?
when i reboot, it still wont take the o2 sim...
and yes am working through the other thread also

[Q] Unlock code after each wipe

Hello,
I have a locked galaxy nexus and I enterded the unlock code to use it with another network. The problem is after each wipe (reinstall of rom), the phones asks for the unlock code again.
Is it normal. Is there a way to unlock the phone without having to unlock it after each wipe?
Thanks for your help.
It's not normal in the sense that every other phone remembers it's been unlocked, but it's normal in the sense that mine (and probably everyone else's GN) does the same.
ok thanks but if there is a way to avoid this, I'll be happy
(just for info, where are you from)
My desire used to do this as well.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
interesting, I had a desire but it was sim-free so I never noticed
I'm from spain and I got my nexus from vodafone.

do you mean the net lock? I pay money for unlock it
yes I talk about the code I bought on the net.
So there isn t any way to make this code permanent?
Maybe it's a good thing because you loose the warranty by unlocking.
as the unlock code has been provided by my network operator, no, I don't loose waranty. I am talking about simlock, not bootloader lock.

Mine was not provided by the network operator...
I never experienced this on my HTC HD2 but My Galaxy Nexus does it as well but not every time. It definitely does it every time I change the radio. I have stuck the code on the inside of the back cover.
I have a GSM model that I got from O2 on contract and the sim unlock code was provided by them.
Where did you buy the Code (www.???
Hi,
can anyone recommend a Page?

[Q] T-Mobile UK unlock code for HTC One X?

Hi people.
Just bought myself a HTC One X locked onto T-Mobile network.
I want to use it on Orange UK.
Anyone know if the SIM unlock codes are available?
Every site I go to advise me that the codes aren't available yet.
Is there another way of being able to use my orange SIM with the HTC One X?
Thanks
There are people selling the codes on Ebay, and there is a Tread (closed though) of people who have successfully used these services: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613613&highlight=unlock+code
Check ebay though as they are some for as cheap as £4.
Nice one gaiden, I'll give it a go.
Thanks for help.
A novice like me needs all that I can get!!
Aaaah, just realised why I'm struggling. Apparently the phone has to be at least one month old for IMEI to be registered on server. That means the waiting game......
Cant you just phone tMobile and ask them for a subsidy pin ?
ermmm tmobile and orange are the same company.... is the card being rejected out right?, i can switch between orange and tmobile with no problems with my tmobile card, and my wife has a locked wildfire s to tmobile that happily runs a orange card.
Yeah tmo and orange are now the same network. You shouldnt need to unlock for this.

That is the exact reason why I bought the phone, thinking Orange & T-Mobile have merged into one.
The thing is they share their network coverage but they are still two seperate companies. This was confirmed by Orange UK. And T-Mobile won't deal with me because I don't have an account with them.
So I need to find someone who does have one, or set one up (which I don't want to do).
All the official HTC Unlock sites don't seem to have code available and give me a refund straight away. I'm going to try a couple from EBay this morning to see if they're any better.

T-Mobile will only unlock a handset that is registered to the account. I.e purchased with the number at the same time, as imei's are linked.

the ebay unlocking method worked fine for my t-mobile phone,
Unlock codes!?
Am I missing something,
If you flash an RUU rom surely that will unlock it?
I presume using Ebay Unlocking techniques also risk voiding warrenty?

Flashing a custom ROM does NOT SIM unlock the phone. Unlike unlocking/rooting, SIM unlocking does not void your warranty.
I've used HTC SIM Unlock before and they always been to work. They have a money back guarantee as well. Never trust those unlockers on eBay. I've been scammed too many times. http://www.htcsimunlock.com/#oid=1096_1
Your other option could be to get a PAYG sim card and call them from that. They might unlock it for you as you would have an account with them then?
I never thought of that, ie, getting a PAYG SIM card. Should have done that! Anyways, after many unsuccessful attempts in getting the phone unlocked (the number of refunds I got on my Paypal, I had numerous security checks on my card!), I eventually got hold of the person I bought the phone off. He's kindly got in touch with T-Mobile UK, and for £15-32, they'll unlock it for me. It will take between 10-28 days, so I'm expecting it to come through some time this week at the earliest. I know it may be dear, but I also know they will be able to unlock it, as its their network.
Anyways, thanks for all the help guys!
I just unlocked my one x at unlockcode4u.com and as I made a video they just refunded me, so eventually I didnt pay anything.
My HTC one X is the best phone ever

best way to unlock phone

ok so i admittedly have unlocked a desire z a while back but it was a right faff and it was a spare phone,
iv now got a brand new HTC M8
its locked to vodaphone (boo)
and has a vodaphone rom (again boo)
so iv tried to unlock the phone with a paid for code as its a lot lot easier but none off the sites seem to be able to give me a code. they just say sorry and give me my money back.
is it possible to unlock the phones sim lock without S-off?
if not, which is better, S-off or htcdev.? id really like to keep the warranty on this phone as iv got 2 years supposedly and HTC have been really good before
im assuming htc dev will void warranty's since you have to give them your phone details? is S-off detectable? can i turn it back on?
Sunshine app is 25 bucks ... But will unlock your bootloader and give you s-off, without HTC knowing about it.
That's what I did.
Then I think you can Sim unlock. I say think, cause I haven't done it with this phone.
