Thanks for putting this up mate!
*sighs* Well, maybe one day Google will support non-standard screen densities! Until then...
very speed :O
Downloaded it, installed it, and not sure what the changes are. Got a change log for this?
Changes which I have noticed are:
1. Items are separated by a thicker border.
2. Promotion video is included in the screenshots column.
3. A little bit fast and a lot smoother scrolling.
4. Explore yourself....

Changelog as per RCMIX blog:
"This all new update ropes in small visual changes wherein the setting for automatically addition of Widgets to your home screen has been bundled. The best part of this update is that this all new Android Market Place dubbed as 3.4.4 supports both the tablets as well as the Android smartphones. To a surprise, it also supports the latest Honeycomb 3.1 powered Google TV which is also known as Logitech Revue. Last but not the least when we talk of new in this version, then this version also comes with the minor stability fixeswith which this works fluently even in slower data speeds."

and another new feature is in the screenshotsbar are now the video preview, you can see it by the "Appartus"-App
thanx alot for this gonna try it now it on ics and see if that helps with my download issues oh yea and on my logitech revue since that market is pretty slow and crappy
Tried it for a few days now, to me it seems quite a bit smoother and loads faster too. Doesn't lag as much as previous versions.
mine updated by itself??
i have all of that stuff without even downloading anything.
might of been ics rom gapps.
maybe i don't know??
I canĀ“t see in this version any isntalled apps.

Presenting FroydVillain 1.1.1, TeamVillain's Froyo ROM (Android 2.2)
FroydVillain 1.1.1 INFO & Release Notes:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
REMEMBER the ROM will only be at peak performance after it's been rebooted a couple of times, and when you've opened your apps once prior.
adb install won't work on this ROM, until you tick "Unknown Sources" in the Menu > Settings > Applications menu.
This appears to be a new security feature. Similarly, apps pushed to /data/app won't work either. You might not notice the issue, but the app does not get any of its permissions it should have, meaning that it is probably useless, and might FC constantly or whatever. So remember to tick the Unknown Sources box
The stock camera doesn't work properly - it takes photos OK, but it doesn't do live preview. The app "Camera Magic", which is free on the market, works fine, so we recommend that.
RELEASE NOTES:
Fixed in this release:
Multi-touch restored to improved touchscreen driver
Applied workaround for akmd running at 100% cpu utilisation (Thanks alankila)
Fixed GMail app resolution
VillainROM Updater now works
Compcache enable/disable script fixed (compcache on by default)
HTC Sense ringtones added
Issues outstanding:
Camera
Notification and chargeLEDs
Autobrightness (only dims when screen is turned off)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Coming from FroydVillain 1.1.0:
Do a wipe of data and dalvik at least.
Coming from any other ROM (Including FroydVillain 1.0.0):
Do a Full wipe, preferably including EXT.
DO NOT POST SUPPORT REQUESTS WITHOUT DOING THIS.

Enjoy, and be sure to leave any feedback
Thank you,
The VillainROM team.
dam gonna have to try this!
Sounds awesome. Just out of curiosity, is the fix for the camera live preview planned at all?
Mind making a quick list of the differences over 2.1? and is flash 10.1 planned for the near future? i remember getting it to work (pretty slow mind) with a .apk someone made.
Thanks anyway, great job guys!
How does the apps on ext work? Do widgets and apps stored on ext show on home screen? Been using the test alpha as this problem occurred in full alpha.

Nice. I've been waiting for a fully working froyo port. The camera issue was the last big problem for me. Will probably try this out tomorrow and report back (it's late here in the uk)

Thought that with the official 2.1 out and most ROMs being based on that, I'd thought that that I would stop playing around with new roms for a while...
Well that's gone for a toss now - thanks Villain team - downloading now...
Jep TeamVillain did it again, they make my heart beat faster! Thanks again guys!

Anyone have a mirror that isn't being battered?
great stuff, worked fine off first boot, coupel more, ran even better ..
one thing ...
the phone, when a call comes in, no slider for pick up/ignore ??
you have to use the phone hard-button to pick up ... how do you ignore call ? aside from turning volume down?
aside from that, camera magic is amazing, much better than stock camera anyways, even supports burst photos... amazing!! ...
but, if an update is made, a slider on the calls coming in woudl be sweet!
love this ROM so far, very snappy, and much better than the ezhero ROM's i've been using ... although, ezhero is 2nd best .. so no offence xenoside ...
i'll defn' donate when incoming calls have slider
worth downloading this ROM ... really well done, thanks villainrom.
Are my eyes deceiving me? Holy crow 2.2 for my Hero? DOWNLOADING HELLO!
just about to install after wiping everything fingers crossed!!!
So how do you feel in general after the update?
- Was it worth it?
- Can we say that our Desire got significantly faster?
- Are we happy now after 3 days of refreshing and checking for updates?
not happy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741566
Hell yeah i am happy.
This will give the Chef's a better base for their custom sense rom's.
Now we only need the sourcecode released
Overall Im happy, my phone performs just as well if not better (some videos played through RockPlayer are also smoother), and the new features are nice, on top of personally having had no issues.
Obviously would still like another update with the promised xvid/divx however, and preferably if they decide to call it a 'media' update; it'd be nice if they extended codec support to h264, aac etc.
So how do you feel in general after the update?
- Was it worth it? - Without doubt!
- Can we say that our Desire got significantly faster? - Yes, also scrolling and animations are smoother but that's not everything that's good about FroYo
- Are we happy now after 3 days of refreshing and checking for updates? - Hell I am!!!
Really happy with the update, the phone flies, I just tested ChromeToPhone and it is amazing !
Well done HTC and Google.
I'm happy with the update. I think is because my phone is working well and stable. Plus I like the feeling of original.
However, there are still some rooms for it to improve.
such as.......If I can call someone by voice dialing over the bluetooth headset....

Not Happy - camera failing.
Yes all happy now, I've actually unrooted and installed it after a deep breath. I waited to see if the general opinion was and went for it. Got fed up of flashing my phone twice a day cos of some issue or other with custom roms. All stable for me at the mo, will see how it goes.
I pressed update on my phone but says no updates available... im from the philippines...

Am I happy? Yes and no. I'm happy that my phone has a speed increase and all the other features, but I'm not happy that out of the 39 apps I have installed only 4 of them can be moved to the SD card! Making my months of waiting for a way to get more space on my device totally wasted. Epic fail by goggle by not making the option built in to the OS and not the apps.
Rooting the device is looking more attractive to me now, pitty I cant now I've upgraded. Here's hoping they get it rooted soon.
is support for wiimote controller removed in froyo sense too?
Happy to have some new features to play around but really frustrated for not being able to voice dial via bluetooth. The most useful feature to me is not presente without reason.
I am quite happy. Have moved most apps to the SD (via the greencodeblog app) and have about 140 apps installed. Only Tunewiki and TagToDo had to be shifted back because the widgets didn't work any more.
Yes very happy!
- Faster
- apps2sd works like a charm
- nice new apps and widgets
- overall feel is faster and more smooth
- camera performance is faster
I tested apss2cd with a 10 mb app. it moved about 8mb to the sdcard.
small prob:
- some apps i bought in the market place i deleted before the update. They don't show up in the market place anymore. Not with downloads, not with searching (Raging thunder 2 for example)
To be honest it's not a very noticeable upgrade (hence only the .1 increase probably) but it does feel snapier and brings some extra functionality. What makes me happy is that HTC has treated the Desire as a flagship and has delivered Froyo to us just 1 month after the Nexus One (and before any other manufacturer). This gives me confidence that we will benefit from further upgrades in a timely matter. Well done HTC!
One happy HTC customer.
Yes very happy!
The adaption of the newly released VegaComb / honeycomb 3.0 for our tegra2 brothers (advent vega and Adam) and is getting to a state where its usable and the latest alpha4 release for Vega is working quite well on Folio100 as well. with a few modifications of course...
I cannot take full credits for the intensive work done on this honeycomb 3.0 , that is primarily done by NotionInk Adam and Advent Vega developers , which are: MrGuy , newbe5 , corvus , HomerSp I added some kernel changes and image adjustments to support A7.
Download A7Comb 0.2a patch update here
installs like any other "Update.zip", rename the downloaded file to Update.zip
Download A7Comb 0.2 full image update here
installs like any other "Update.zip" (extract the Update.zip from this downloaded zip file) and make sure you "wipe" / factory reset.
Alternate kernel, with original softkeys enabled can be downloaded here
this is also used when you change density setting to 130, so you get the "gingerbread" launcher running instead.
Rename this download to Update.zip and copy directly to sdcard. no unpacking for this is required.
So what is status on a7 port.
- Wifi works, you need to reboot the first you enable it, and it will scan correctly.
- touchscreen seems 100% ok. (did not test multitouch apps)
- Adobe Flashplayer blank (just keep pressing upper left corner like normal to get fullscreen and it works)
- too many apps in the apps list makes them go outside screen.. one solution might be to change density. see build.prop and maybe try 110 instead of the current 120.
You can write whatever status or reported finding, but please check, its not already in the advent/vega issue list, as it share alot with their image.
I will do what is possible to bring it to a better state, but i cannot promise anything and maybe patches from vega/adam might actually work on A7 depending on what they change. (if its a patch)
v0.2a
- Increased 2d/3d performance
- polaris office fixes
- brightness control fix
v0.2 updates
- using newest updates from VegaComb (Gmail and other googleapps now shows correctly)
- Market can now be used for login with an Googleaccount.
reserved for me
I did get bigrushdog to take a look into making us a kernel he is the one who has been working on them for the xoom.
And its online.
Thanks for HC dexter I am testing it now...
Been playing with it for a few hours. touch on the screen is hit or miss at best. Market is a non-starter. Titanium Backup is crashing every other app install. Unable to load Amazon App Store anymore (just stuck in a non-ending registering cycle) But on a good note looks great in landscape, Portrait not so much. Wifi started right up after restart and found my network just fine. Will play a little bit more.
Google Apps working now!!
Ill post the new image later on.. and "Books" now stays (was automatically removed before)
Had to revert back to 1.42, no soft key work. Will wait for new update..

softkeys disabled.. Honeycomb do not use them anymore
Look at the bottom left, thats your control buttons.. thats pretty much what as example "motorola xoom with honeycomb 3.0" looks like now.. so its no error , i disabled those on purpose..
problem is that you got half the screen size of a "certified" tablet, so not much room for pressing buttons and resolutions very low.. so you're missing alot due to the lack of space.. and thats pretty much why A7 is never getting a proper honeycomb when minimum requirements are 1280x800
Soft keys were removed If I had read correctly due to the fact HC has them and dex seen no reason to have two of them. I like the idea of not having them means you don't have to worry about hitting them on accident

no, i used StreamTVNetwork's released source from their website..
you cannot use other devices unless you once again try to adapt the drivers to the kernel, which is a big one, since no one did, you can imagine how much work it takes..
you modifiy the existing kernel you got for your device, which the git changes where possible into your existing code, and update where it requiress it.
So we could maybe get the 1.5Ghz update, but im not sure if i can extract and diff it so we can implement into the a7 kernel.
I wasn't meaning did you use that kernel. I guess I could have been a bit clearer. What I meant was seeing how that kernel is adapted to be used with HC could that be off benefit to a dev for our a7. Using it as a guide to some degree
This may be a silly question but...with a dedicated gpu could not the ROM resolution actually be resized to fit the A7? I mean this is not a case of trying to increase resolution (at its native resolution you can't get more than it can reproduce) but down converting it. In other words (This may be a bad example) a standard 720p television that can receive a 1080p signal but down-converts it to 720p.

with the next update, im uploading in some hours you can use Market, then download the "Density" app, which can change density (not resoluion) but everything becomes smaller and its harder to hit the soft buttons in lower left side, so you know (as i tried it)

no, basically a7 is stuck on in 2.2. a 2.3 release still require a formal 2.6.36. kernel which vendors do not adapt drivers for, so if any 2.3 arrive, it will be like this one, using a 2.6.32.9 kernel. maybe with a few patches upto 2.6.32.34 or so, but still using the old drivers vendors delivered..
the guys found out several "libs" of 40MB+ were not needed at all, so i removed them as well..
Weird, Upon first install i recived " Installation aborted" Due to some E:Can't find entry for META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary. Any ideas? Trying install again from fresh download.
Update: No go 2nd time around..... ?
I don't mean to irritate the community, but if I asked this on any of the GB thread, my post would have been lost and I think a thread like this is needed for us that are like "meh" about this and we would only like to know the changes.
So, please list only the changes on the 2.3 version compared to the latest 2.2
Thanks.
From what I read so far:
Gingerbread 2.3.3
Sense 1.9 (Few tweaks here and there but nothing special) (as Zane detailed, fastboot mode, reboot in power menu)
Facebook apk removed (can be downloaded from market)
teeter apk removed (can be reinstalled from provided APK)
flashlight apk removed (can be reinstalled from provided APK)
Most Wallpapers removed (can be saved on to sdcard)
HBoot upgraded
Runs on branded software (so will remove all the branded junk, effectively debranding your phone)
Slight partition size changes (around 19MB removed from /data)
Performance upgrade (as Zane mentioned below)
Newer Flash, gapps (gmail, maps etc.) - as mcgon1979 pointed out
Sorry if anything above is wrong.
Fastboot mode
Reboot in power menu
Performance upgrade
Saw this on the developer site:
*Will this release remove the ability to send SMS / MMS like in the disclaimer?*
Only certain regions, specifically the ones listed below, will have some functionality removed. For the majority of regions, there is no impact to your SMS / MMS functionality.
*Why is this only for developers?*
Due to the complicated nature of the update we suggest only expert users proceed. We have provided the update in as user friendly way as possible and also included the instructions in the download file but we were unable to provide the update by our usual over the air method.
*When can I download the upgrade for my phone?*
You can still access the download at http://developer.htc.com for the upgrade for your phone, unless you are in the regions listed below.
*Will HTC issue an over the air (FOTA) for HTC Desire update to Gingerbread?*
No, this downloadable RUU is the official update to your phone. The update required that we conserve space by removing customizations and wallpapers, we had to release the update as a downloadable update.
I have to give my NOOB feedback on this upgrade. I just finished setting up my phone again after upgrade.
The upgrade is great, because I now have 90mb free with all the same applications installed, I had 18mb free before?!
First impressions...
123mb free internal after upgrade
The "move to SD card" funcitons ALOT better now.
Many of my applications take up even less internal memory than before. It seems they can move more of the app to the SD?
Latest Flash already installed
Latest google maps included
Latest youtube app included
Latest gmail app included
(all these installs I had installed separately before and they took up 30mb at least)
keyboard has nice zoom feature when editing text, but do install Stephen Lins gingerbread keyboard. You still keep the text selection and updated zoom feature.
without question its noticably faster scrolling around.
I cannot understand the complaints. I could not have asked for it to work any better IMHO.
Are there also noticeable differences between the leaked gb rom and this final version?
Can someone who already upgraded his/her phone advise...
1-sense version (1.9 or 2.0 or 2.1)?
2-is there second tab for quick settings available in notification area.
3-is the new GB keyboard with trace function (or whatever it is called) available in this Desire specific fw?
4-slow scrolling issue in web browser solved, or improved for better performance?
5-the camera app renewed and still supporting 720p recording?

Almost nothing change in the Sense interface. It's still the original Sense from the Desire with small tweaks, which are almost not noticeable.
Is it my imagination or the transition between home screens is less fluid than before? Less frames of animation. With static wallpapers, where it was flying before, now it doesn't feel so smooth.
I noticed also that transition of homescreens aint smooth

The transitions between screens and menus are super fast and fluid on my Desire. I have nt seen them this fast on 2.1 or 2.2 in the past.
Some small icon changes on sense. gmail notification icon. power settings icons. etc. other than that its the same sense. but some menus (such as the browser settings) are much smaller so you can view them on one screen which is much nicer.
I'm not sure what HTC did with the storage thing but its much much better. I cannot say that enough. I had 18mb free internal before, and now with all the same applications and contacts etc I have 85mb free now!
There is a nicer "storage use" option in the Manage applications settings section too.
The upgrade comes with latest flash, gmail, google maps, youtube etc. so I did not need to update or install any of those apps to internal which saved at least 30 or 40mb!!!
The update is actual aswesome. I never expected sense 2.3, but I just wanted some small improvements and faster UI. I got that. It's much faster, loads more internal space, few nicer UI touches and latest android version. I am very impressed and happy.
Any questions about the upgrade etc please ask and I'll check on my phone or tell you .

again, I have just checked this a few times now. I cannot get a single stutter or lack of smoothness. It's 100% fluid and perfect. And scrolling through applications page is smooth too. not a single stutter. In my opinion its definitely smoother than it ever was. ?
should I be doing something special to see this slow transition? cannot repro it here.

@mcgon1979 - are you sure that the memory increase is not due to not having to install flash, the new market etc.?
I figured I can ask lol without harm, but with the announcement of JB 4.2 when the AOSP is released we will definitely get upgrades to CM10/11 or any other AOSP/AOKP build around here correct? Alot of the new features sounds kind of enticing lol.

Learning from android's website, in 4.2 they improved the keyboard (now with swipe gestures) and made a new camera app from scratch. They also improved google now, they added the abillity to share a video or photo wirelessly, they added an idle screensaver and that's about it...
Of course, if there is something changed at its core, they will never put it on the website. But i don't think 4.2 will be so much different than 4.1...
