I just successfully rooted my HTC Desire HD and flashed the android revolution HD 6.3.1. (Thanks to the author)
However, after booting, I no longer have the HTC start up sound. I have checked a few threads about this with no success. There are many threads on disabling the start up sound, but nothing that provides a fix for my siuation.
Another site recommended going into the media file and do as follows:
media/notifications/bootanimation and rename the andoid_audio.mp3
My situation is...... after notifications, there is no bootanimation or android_audio.mp3
Has the rom flash deleted this file? Is it located somewhere else? I used both my PC and file manager extensively to locate this but I cannot.
I am hoping that someone else has had this same problem and a solution or if anyone might know how I can fix this missing file.
Hoping patiently

We rom devs usually move the respective files to /data/data. If it's there, and bootanimation/sound is not activated at boot, it means there's a missing symlink/improperly mounted ext partition. Ask your dev how to proceed, as the symlinks are usually different for each rom
I flashed android revolution HD 6.3.1
Would you be able to direct me to the proper location to report my problem?
@ Raymond Ebertt
The ARHD is for Desire HD and such , not for HTC DESIRE !! Ask Mike about your problem this is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
My friend why dont u install the stock rooted 3.12.405.1 rom that was posted a few days ago. Ive tried arhd and the stock one feels way smoother. Im on it currently nd it has the stock boot stuff.
@mitzap... My phone is the HTC Desire HD, however, I will follow your suggestion and ask Mike at that thread this evening after work.
Thanks
I tried your suggestion and all my HTC Desire HD does is open the HTC home screen, closes, opens again, and does so for several minutes. No success on that one.....
Raymond, you had better open your issue on the DHD forum. When I answered your query, I was under the impression that your device is a Desire.
Problem fixed. Thanks all for suggestions

Hi
Unprovoked (latest version) tried on the MAC and PC does not root my HTC Desire running Android 2.1. I have tried everything possible and it just does not grant me root access to the phone.
What are my options, what other software can I try, to root the phone, preferably PC based.
Thanks

Good Lord, of course it doesn't. There is no rooting tool known as unprovoked.

Please, describe the problem that you are facing, what steps you have taken, etc.
Don't ask stupid questions (or ask questions stupidly) and expect anyone to be able to have a vision of your problem, diagnose it correctly AND help you solve it.
lol a classic typo, I was provoked using unrevoked hehe I wish I could change the subject title now, and of course meant unrevoked (sorry was too tired after trying it for many many hours) ... i know that many people have had success rooting their phones with this tool.
My phone got stuck in a reboot cycle after using unrevoked on 2.2, so I downgraded to 2.1-update1 and tried unrevoked again but the same problem happened and no root access. Then I took the battery out for a few minutes, powered it back on, and so far it's been stable, i.e. no reboots. This morning I also powered off and back on again and the phone has not rebooted. I just can't understand it.
Moving forward, is there another option, a different tool which I could use which can root Android 2.1.

Yes and selected default connection type to charge only.
Have you installed HtC Sync then removed it? Making sure the drivers are left on?
I tried on both the PC and MAC. The MAC does'nt require messing around with USB drivers.
On the PC, HTC sync was uninstalled with the drivers left installed ( unrevoked modified USB driver ) and then ran unrevoked.
So I now have HBOOT 0.83.0001 and Android 2.1.
I tried unprovoked once more today, and the phone is stuck in a reboot loop.
1.
I take out the battery, and the phone boots and then reboots once i see the multi-coloured HTC background and then goes into that infinite reboot cycle before I can make any changes.
2.
HBOOT is trying to find an image with a name similar to : PB99IMG.ZIP which it can't find so reboots in a loop until the battery in taken out and then returns to 1.
Hello guys,
I had my HD rooted and did S-off according to the guide posted here in XDA. I am now using CyanogenMod 7 for HD and it works completely fine.
However, the problem is that I am still not able to change default fonts. At first I thought that I didn't make it correctly during S-off and then did S-off once again. But the problem remains same as before. I also changed R/W setting on the system folder using Root Explorer and then switched default fonts to ones that I like manually which eventually resulted in endless loop in booting process.
So it will be of great help if someone can help me.
Thanks in advance.
Hey.
Ive done some searching but i just dont know the answer to the question so wanted to check first - Im a new user so couldnt post in the actual ROM thread.
Question. In the install instructions for the HellFire kindle Sandwich 4.04 ROM is says to fix permissions. What is this?
Like i say i have searched that thread and others but just see it referenced as fix permissions. Sorry if im being really dim (its always quite likely!!!)
Look under other in recovery mode it should say fix permissions(at least that's where it is on my rezound)
sent from senseless ics rezound using tapatalk 2
Dammit, I knew it would be simple! Never come across it before!
Thanks for your reply
Can someone explain please what fixing permission does and when it should be done please?

Permissions
Hi. This is a bit late, but in case you never figured this out. Fixing permissions just basically makes sure that programs are connected to their separate parts correctly (that's completely in lay terms, not technical). If there are name changes or lost files (like dll's on a computer), then they are cleaned up using the applications' lists of files that it should be associated with. It also makes sure that your access to specific programs is intact. I use it quite frequently as a tune-up - incorrect permissions are often the cause of force-closes, because the device is unable to find a specific file, or it can't gain access to it because the system isn't recognizing the file or the admin privileges correctly.
Hope that helps.

New problem
Viber can't sync contacs from contacts!
I've installed another contacts apk, but nothing changed
mount2sd doesnt show ext partition
first of all hats off to the fantastic rom and i am excited to see a new soul in HTC Desire codename bravo phone.
coming to my problem
i have a class 10 san disk SD MMC 16gb. i read carefully your partition method and i followed it. and made partitions of 11 and 4 gb fat32 and ext4 respectively(using EXT4 Recovery method).
but
after i installed the mount2sd from playstore it shows
external Not mounted
and not only that in phone/settings/ partition info it says /sdcard (fat) unavailable and same for sd extension.
i am not a techie guy and am unable to proceed further. please help
earlier i used to have AOKP ics4.0.4 rom and used the same card with same partitions and everything was running fine with link2sd.
I've to set up an old Desire and I've installed this rom. Everything works fine except for the gapps. There is no way to install it. Rom, mount2sd were installed in a breath but gapps there is no way.
The flash told me the installation was complete but anything happens. Any idea about that?
Thanks.
[edit] Seems the default browser is not working. As soon as I tap on the icon the app open and suddenly close.
Icon size in power menu
Hi, I have just installed Beanstalk 4.4.4 KiteKat ROM to my HTC Desire (bravo). I noticed strange sized icons in power menu. Icons are very big and hence blurry...
[Solved] I had to set "LCD density" from initial "unknown" to 240. After reboot, problem is fixed.

Correct me plz
This rom is sooo stylish, with lots of controls, every function is really really working; but there's a problem: as a day passes and by installing say 2 or 3 apps which are not huge (e.g. Telegram, Zapya, etc) it becomes so slow that even for unlocking the screen I'll have to wait more than 10 seconds. The cool & weird thing is there's never been a single FC, but it's just so slow.
Should MMI codes run without any config? Because at the last steps of gettingg credit for the phone it says: MMI canceled.
Hello,
I haven't found in this big repository which is XDA any good ROM for HTC desire 620 (single sim), but i found it in other place in internet and i decide to share with you guys. This forum is missing special section for phone HTC desire 620 and i have to write it here in general "desire" section and becouse of "To prevent spam, you must have a higher post count in order to make a new thread in this development section. But feel free to make new thread in the non-development sections like General, Q&A, etc. Thanks for your understanding!" I'm force to write this thread in General Secion. I hope there is not big deal with this and moderator will not delete it rather moving it to right section and let the others desire 620 users take benefits of such good ROM from CM.
The source of the rom is taken from: http://forum.android.com.pl/topic/245169-rom-recovery-cyanogenmod-121/
and i add some my coments to it.

I have a htc desire 620g dual sim, whats this custom rom support this phone ?
Lost IMEI after factory resetting and flashing a ROM (rooted) ! HTC DESIRE 620g dual
Can someone help me with this problem?
I have tried all the methods to repair the IMEI, but none of them worked. Even I tried flashing a new ROM (CM13) and now I cant even enter the ENGINEERING MODE , says that engineeringmode.apk is not installed. But even though I have accessed engineering mode in a different rom, the CDS info option was not highlighted to be clicked on and I couldn't fix it.
Please someone help me with this problem

Where did you find CM 13
Solution for invalid imei on Htc desire 620
If your device is custom rom and showing invalid imei ,then firstly flash stock rom on your htc desire 620 with flash tool in PC. Then note down your imei no.(printed on back of your phone). Root your mobile with kingroot.apk. Install chamlephon on your device. Then type your imei manually on that application.then restart.your imei will be repaired.
If you want to install custom roms then firstly install Mobile uncle tool and select backup and restore IMEI then backup the imei to extsdcard. Then flash your custom rom. And if its showing imei error then root with kingroot.apk and install mobileuncle tool.apk, then select restore imei from extsdcard then reboot.IMEI will surely get soluted. Hit helpfull if you like this thread.
