Is the galaxy nexus an over-all better device than the one s? Need to know so I can make up my mind over which to buy!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
I think it is, if you like roms then the galaxy nexus will always have better development. I love the nexus I have had lots of high end phones and this is my favorite. I like the on screen buttons and how you can change them and the color. Good luck

Get the nexus. One S is garbage I played with it at the T-Mobile store by my housrle and was not impressed one bit... screen was disappointing. Sense 4 was disappointing... pretty much everything about it was sad. My old sensation was better than it in every way I could think of and my gnex is better than my sensation in every way so make the wise decision and get the nexus

So biased. The One S is a great device. It is snappier than the galaxy nexus even with sense 4, which isn't even that bad.

To be short with words, Nexus! I would juist choose it for the 720p display!

The nexus has better screen size (4.65"), resolution (720p) and development.
The One S has better processor (dual-core s4) and custom hardware (image sense).
So it depends on what you want.
nexus vs one x i would understand. but why go one s unless you really want a smaller form factor.
honestly... i like most high end androids. but its always the nexus for me. stock android is the best... in my opinion at least.
id still take my galaxy nexus over the galaxy s3 or the one x. heck.. i never got tempted to replace my nexus one until the nexus s came out. but i finally jumped when the galaxy nexus got released.
if you like sense.. go for the one x. if you like smaller phones then go for the one s. go get the galaxy s3 if you can wait for that. but look at it this way... would you want the next iteration of android the soonest? if you wanna get jelly bean this year then there is no other choice but the galaxy nexus.

Well, this is the Galaxy Nexus forum. You should've saw it coming.
Sent from the future.
I have both the galaxy nexus for a month on sprint and the HTC one s that I got like 3 days ago from T-Mobile . And I got to say I was surprised with sense (haven't used it since Evo 3D) and is not bad Camera is much better and screen well it depends on you the one s screen you can defimetely see pixels (specially after having the Gnex) but the look of the phone is nice (really nice and thin) and the gnex screen is beautiful (If you don't keep starting at white backgrounds ) is hard deduction I'm selling my Gnex to get money to buy a GSM version ho only cause of roms and that's what it comes too rom community on Gnex doesn't compare to htc one s and I don't think it ever will so yeah . Good luck !

Not being biased when I was mainly comparing it to my old sensation. Nexus aside. If I were going straight to tmobile for a phone I wouldn't see the advantage in getting the one s over the sensation. To me the sensation screen looks better feels better in your hand and the one s cones in silver/grey with panzy blue trim on it. It was snappy but not an improvement over previous HTC models. Just disappointed with the one series is all. Nothing but hype

Thanks, im leaning torward the Gnex. I really want a next gen. display and nfc but i also want solid build quality and a good camera, so does the Gnex feel cheap in the hand or whats the camera like compared to the one s? Thanks for your comments. It really helps!

No Gnex does not feel cheap it feel like a great device specially with the on screen nav buttons camera is not bad but ain't great and the One S I think it has a better camera overall specially woth moving shots(with tryig out with my 2 year old and pets ) . one s feels better after a while the unibody design and thin part makes it look good. I would be happy with etheir one but the best options for rooters is Galaxy nexus IMO for other might be the one s

I would choose the GN over the One S. Tue ability to stay contract free appeals to me. Also, the bigger screen with better resolution is a no-brainer to me. The One S feels nice in hand and high quality. The GN is no slouch either. While it is plastic, it feels nice and has good heft. Just my .02.

I would rather use both the phones and buy the one which I feel like buying.
I'm getting horrible macros on this camera, it might be just that I'm used to the htc amaze's camera. Any tips to get overall better pics I'm on aokp
Only thing I miss from the Amaze is the camera......
You need to play with camera settings a lot to get better results with this camera,.and even then pics are not a good....
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Yeah that's the only thing I miss about it too I was looking to find maybe a camera app on the market that could maybe make the images come out better

Have you guys tried UCam.. its a good camera.. I use it a lot.

I don't think it is the software as much as it is the camera that is the main complaint. My wife has the HTC Sensation and the camera is loads better than the GS II. We both upgraded same time, that first night we were out and took pics with our phones and her shots are by far better than anything I took on my phone and this was out of the box without changing any settings. Her phone excels in night shots where mine looks super pixelated.
Htc cameras are the best around. I find using procapture to be best at macro shots. I think there was a discussion on this awhile ago in the themes and apps section. There was another camera.... But i forgot which.. Oh Wells I stuck to procapture, but night shots still suck.

Hey everyone I currently have HTC one x. I'm thinking of switching to s3 before doing so I have some questions to ask.
1) how's the performance of the s3 compared to your one x?
2) does the battery last for a day with heavy usage?
3)The camera is amazing on one x. Just wondering if it's the same for the s3
Have a great day everyone

I have both.
The s3 seems faster (I hate sense soooo much), battery lasts longer and the cameras are comparable.

Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
The gs3 battery is significantly better due to the screen being nowhere near as bright and it also has the larger battery. If screen brightness is important to u ie outdoor visibility, stick with the x. The us version gs3 is leaps and bounds better than the one x BC of that extra GB of ram.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Also, the camera is better on the s3 in my opinion, however the software on the one x seems to be better and easier to use.

It's being developed as we speak.
Anywho, I switched from the one x mostly because I figured the development would be better and sammys are easier to work with in that regard. No need for fastboot flashing, no s-on troubles, no locked bootloader Yada Yada Yada. An example of this is the new att update for the one x that contains a new bootloader, which is further complicating development over there.
Also my one x in particular would lose radio signal fairly frequently, and im not the only one with that issue. Drove me nuts.

He means camera software. It has a dedicated imaging chip called ImageSense and can do real time photo manipulation and such. I still don't like One X photos because they're too saturated. GS3 photos are more realistic looking (funny how it's the opposite of their screens!).

The phone i had right before this was the rogers one x... simultaneously owned both for about three days as well swapped back and forth and stuck with the s3.
1) Much much much better on the siii, touchwiz seems to be a lot lighter than sense. I barely ever get lag on the siii vs the regular homescreen /launcher lag i used to get on the one x. Htc might have toned sense down in ics, but its still lags like a ***** compared when compared to other phones like galaxy nexus and the siii.
2) definitely, i find that the battery is on par with my one x (i had the rogers dual core version btw)
3) i find that the cameras on both devices are about equal in terms of quality. The one x has the edge in the better camera software though.
one major thing that sold me to the siii surprisingly were the ergonomics. i know a lot of people say the s iii looks cheap and whatnot compared to the one x but how the siii feels in hand is AMAZING, like the phone has such a large screen yet feels so small in hand. It is so much more comfortable to hold than the one x, the one x is thicker and feels more blocky thus it feels much larger in hand than the siii.
The one x has the edge on actual quality with its polycarbonate, but imo to me the ergonomics of the siii really won my heart. seriously if you havent had the time to see one, hold both the one x and the siii and youll notice how much easier the siii is to handle, while with the one x i had to stumble a lot to handle the device.
my $0.02 :good:
are there any issue with the s3? software wise. Please be honest! =)

I can only speak for myself, but after a month of use, I haven't had a single hiccup with the S3. No FCs, no reboots, nothing. Battery life is fantastic. I've also got the One X and I think they're both great phones. I do like the louder speaker on the S3 better and, for some reason, the camera is much better for me than the One X. I wish I could figure out what I'm doing wrong on the One X camera because I just can't get shots nearly as good as the ones I take with the S3.
But yeah, this is one solid phone. I'm extremely happy with it. :good:
I was referring to ImageSense actually. The refinements made by HTC to the stock android camera layout/software.

Ditto to everything you listed... especially the ergonomics. The SIII simply feels so much smaller than the screen size would make you think it would feel. I can easily access the whole screen one handed with my thumb.

Sounds very bias. Mashable probably got paid lol.
My friends with iPhone 5 were jealous of my camera. I'm not saying that our phone is better. I think iPhones cameras are nice, but never got to make a side by side comparison personally. But from my iPhone 5 friends reaction to my camera, i doubt that their camera is that much more superior as this article is pointing out

I think theirs is better but the ios6 prolly holding the camera back as well.
Gizmodo, a predominantly Apple-friendly site says the S3 has a superior camera to the iPhone 5.

Hello Community,
After having my nexus 4 for several months I have decided that the camera sucks tremendously compared to HTC Sense Camera. My biggest gripe is the lack of a great rapid shot like on the HTC One S or X. Is there anyway to get that camera ported over to the N4? IF not, any other camera apps out there that are worth a shot? Ive tried some of the ones in the play market but they are just a bad.
The HTC camera ist just awesome. The n4 one isn't.
Don't forget do downsize the picture to 4 MP / 3 MP on the nexus 4 that speeds up the camera heavily. If you use focal you can achieve a quite high speed, but the quality isn't that nicely

Remember that what makes camera quality on a phone is not only the build but also the guts of the camera. HTC has a great camera because it uses a camera sensor chip created by HTC. You can't just port over the camera and get the same quality. Graphic quality on s camera has a lot to do with how well the megapixels interact with the sensor itself. Sony, HTC and Samsung have all used a specific set of chips allowing for crisp clean images. LG prob didn't include a great sensor on the N4 so that the price wouldn't be so expensive. I mean phones like the HTC One, One X, GS3, S4 and Xperia devices run at 500$+. Remember our phone was priced at 300.

The stock camera is just horrible, but I noticed that the MIUI camera is very good with our N4, very crisp picture quality and UI is nicer.
I also found the Moto Camera to be better than stock camera, the photos it takes are much more focused and are just generally better.
Have you tried Focal App? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.xplod.focal&hl=fr :cyclops:
This is the camera I have on my nexus4 more or less the same the HTC one

I have to get over it I guess. The hardware is not to par with my expectations and experience with HTC camera hardware. I really like my N4 but miss my One S camera. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions guys
Just get the n5 I hear the camera is gonna be really good on it

I used to Have HTC WildfireS and when I flashed cyanogenmod rom the quality of the photos decreased (same for other HTC devices my friends have (the flagships not cheap like mine) so I think the HTC framework as a whole plays a big role in the quality. But again you need someone to port the entire framework of the camera and the camera (which is hard to impossible ?)
