Am I the only person who has no idea what this is? So what is it?

It is an alternate way of referring to CWM backup.
CWM backups are images of your phone (Kernel/ROM/Data) used to make full restores. Think "Norton Ghost" for PCs.
I have been flashing for years now not once have I done this. But why the renaming wouldn't cement backup be less key strokes?

Ok so most of us by now know how to back up our wimax partition and or keys. My question is now that we have this back up mine is in form of wimax.img what are actual steps to restore this in case our wimax gets ruined?

Keep the good wimax.img and put it in the nandroid you want to restore, overwrite the old one with the good one and then proceed to restore, make sure amon ra is 1.8 or higher

Has anyone had an issue where you performed a backup using cwm and it seemed to lose some of your sms messages? I lost half of mine.

Exactly as the title suggests my phone randomly reboots during a MyBackup Pro backup. If it narrows it down any, I was backing up APKs and data. I'm also on a stock rooted EL29. I don't think that root has anything to do with it since I've backed up with the app after I rooted and all was fine. I searched through the forums and I can't find anything that mentions this issue, have any of you ever had this problem?
I have this problem, I just let it boot and re do it and it works the second time

Thank you for the response and I'll have to try to redo it after it boots up and see if it will work.
No problem, if not just try using the backup settings in titanium backup

Do i need titanium back still even after i made a nandroid back up?

Not really, but depends on what you plan on doing

Titanium backup is to back up apps and data or settings that you like. I wouldn't recommend restoring a backup to a different ROM. For example let's say I'm on wicked right now and I made a backup with titanium backup. It wouldn't be wise to move to darthstalker and restore it. It will most likely conflict with other Roms. As long as you keep track of what ROM the backup goes to you should be fine.
