I dont think that would work, I think it's built into the framework.apk on the SGS2 so i dont think they're compatible, just wait till ICS update of PLAY it has a native task manager built in. on top of the one already on all android phones (manage applications, running, (click on app), force close)

I used to use Adao Task Manager but on EB13, it seems that the autokill function is broken. I tried Auto Killer from the market and was told that didn't work either. Anyone have a preference on a good auto killer that'll increase battery life greatly?
Thanks

I think in 2.2, auto-killers have lost their touch, so says the changelog in Adao Task Manager app. It's harder for task managers to kill tasks on Froyo than on Eclair due to some system changes... i think...
I just use advanced killer for froyo

Adao task manager still works for me on EB13. I'm careful to set certain things to ignore, but with that taken care of it seems to be working... unless some other black magic is occuring...

I do the same but it seems seconds later, programs seem to pop up on their own. If I wait a minute, its as if I never killed the tasks in the first place

This is because of code changes in Froyo. I keep a widget(process monitor widget from market) ans set it up the way i like it(excluding and including) then if it says an app is running i click the widget, click the app, click settings, and it takes you to the Manage Applications part for that app, then hit force stop. The widget is useful, but the app is useless now.

I assume FroYo automatically kills apps then?
I'm using atk without a problem

Now this is a handy wee app!
Check this out. Before installing this app get your hands on taskxp from the market (don't set it as your default launcher make your default what is already was). Reboot your device then click taskxp to check what apps have started (a lot!), also see the amount off free ram you have. But the app below actually works
Download the app from the link below. Disable user apps, and whatever system apps are starting (compare/check with taskxp). Reboot then check what apps have started, nice eh?
It took me just a couple of reboots to get it set up nice.
Note, stay away from installed apps all that does is uninstall.
Try it out post here what you think.

Nice app, but not really the same thing.
Startup Cleaner is simple and it does what it says on the tin. Personally I am not into task killers and that type of thing at all.
I just mentioned Taskxp so people can see what is happening on startup...

Autostarts is the business!! Have been using it since i got my SGS and still using on my SGS II - after wipe/new rom, it's the SECOND app i install after TB!!
I prefer Gemini App Manager, because there is not one, but different kind of autostarts with different triggers and each can be modified by the Gemini app (together with its task killer widget and it's ability to freeze apps (although I have Titanium Backup) it's nearly perfect)
when i play a game and i need to press my screen a lot for some reason the app just closes on me..what is the problem here?.can you guys help me?.the games im playing are defender and the world of magic..
if you are getting a lot of force closes you may need to fix the permissions on your phone (you can download an app to do this, I use Rom Manager app), that usually takes care of all the FC's i get, another thing to consider is that it may be the app or game itself and you need to update the apk, also you ram may be bogged down try freeing up some memory and if your rooted with an over clock kernal you can try to OC when playing ram intensive games
there are a few threads about this already...games dont force close, they just quit...has something to do with samsungs built in task manager

idk...but i wouldnt do it, its a very efficient task manager, and its built by samsung. I think its just a little to agressive
i was under the impression that the random closes were caused by the "soundpool" bug affecting all GSII devices. if removing the Samsung task manager fixes it, I'm sooo on it. I'm running naerok's bare bones rom and task manager is removed by default but i added it back. will reflash tonight without it and see.

I tried the naerok rom and it still closes on me..
thanks for trying it out anyway. saves me a flash. figured that was too simple to work. i really hope Samsung fixes this issue. i miss my gameboy roms.
Just installed CM10 for my frist time. Like it but a few features I liked in stock are gone. Specifically you can't kill all open apps in the task manager at the same time and you need to manually remove each open one... Huge pain in the ass in my opinion.
I searched the play store from some third party ones but it seems like most of them are designed to work with Gingerbread. Can someone recommend a good solution that will kill all open apps at once?
Thanks kindly

8.Backup -Titanium will do that for you instead [MUST]
9.Riptide
10.Polaris Office - Replace it with Office Suite or any other app [NOT A MUST]
11.Music - Replace it with Winamp, Poweramp or any other music player [MUST]
12.File Manager - Replace it with Total Commander, Root Explorer, etc. [MUST]
13.Movie Studio
14.Sound Recorder - Better don't uninstall it, might be useful sometimes
15.Clock - Replace it with another clock widget [MUST]
16.Gallery - Replace it with QuickPic or another application [MUST]
17.Weather - Replace it with another widget [NOT A MUST]
18.Me Widget
19.Huawei Home - NOT RECOMMENDED but you can replace it with another Home Launcher [MUST]
20.FM Radio
21.Power Manager - NOT RECOMMENDED
22.App Installer - You'll have Total Commander or Root Explorer to do that for you [install apps] [MUST]
23.Street View
24.Calculator
25.Permission Manager - NOT RECOMMENDED
26.Downloads
27.Notes
28.Help Center - NOT RECOMMENDED
MUST = It means that you MUST replace the removed system app with another app if you want that function to work properly. For example if you delete Gallery you will not be able to view photos unless you install another app to perform that function for you, so that's a MUST.
NOT A MUST = It means that a system app can be removed without installing another one to replace it, for example you can remove Polaris Office without installing Office Suite, let's say, but you can install another app if you want to open files that need that kind of app to perform that function, the same you can do with Calculator, there is no need for that app, only if you want it there,so that's NOT A MUST
great thanks

No problem. Anytime.
With Clean Master, you can uninstall system apps, and it tells you if the app's important or not. Just an idea

I must ask, why is HuaweiHome not recommended to be removed if you have installed another launcher? Does it have any ramifications in other apps?
thanks

Huawei Home is optimised for our P6 and is really stable. Other launcher MIGHT give you issues. I always keep a backup launcher on my phone

It's always a good idea to keep at least two Home Launchers, just in case, the stock one and some other one you like best. That doesn't mean that you cannot uninstall the stock one completely, you can do it if you want, I just said that don;t uninstall the stock one unless you have another one. If it bothers you, uninstall it. No harm done. But be sure to have another Launcher.

I'm waiting either for a fully functional KK with gapps and everything working or for the stock KK
Wait for the official release. It will be better.
Why can't Power manager be removed? If stock android has it's own methods, and you can use a app like greenify, for a coarser battery management (the system should still run the soc cores in the right management, per Governor setting). Is power manager somehow too integrated in the system, hardware? Or has no one tried?
